Welcome back, Ann, glad you enjoyed your time away, it is always over too soon, don't you think? Seems ages since we were away but only three weeks ago we had spent our first weekend there and now it is long gone!
Love to all and hope this week is a good one for everyone.
I have an apptmt with my doctor and the asthma nurse Monday, today, but forgot to book a double apptmt, as I have a lot to talk about with her. Haven't got round to sorting out new apptmt with counsellor but must be out of sight, out of mind as she hasn't chased me up either. Will keep you posted re Beating the Blues etc if doc can put me on that.

Well I am back from holiday.

Elaine, my thoughts are with you and with your OH I am praying that all goes well for him and that you will soon be a little less anxious.

for our holiday, the weather was mixed, not too bad the beginning of the holiday when we were at Sawrey, staying in our daughter's apartment for three days, and quite good on Thursday and Friday this week. In fact Friday we took a Freedom of the Lake ticket for the steamers on Windermere and went from Lakeside to Bowness, then on to Ambleside where we got off and walked up into the town, back to the boat and a trip to Bowness where we again got off and walked up intot he town, htis time for lunch. then back to the boat and a final trip back to Lakeside. There was a cold wind but the sun shone and it didn't rain. the weather was horrible on Saturday when it rained hard all day and was windy and cold. It seemed much colder up there than down here and one day was only 9.5 degrees according to the car outside temp reader. A couple of days we had the electric heater on and three days we had the gas fire on all evening. still the gas bill was only £2 and the electric £10. I had a lovely facial on Tuesday. We ate in the Fishermans bar of the hotel four times, twice we had fish and chips as we met our friends Brenda and Jean on the first Friday and went with them, then went again this friday as it was such good value, just £4.75 but we had to order before 7pm. Luckily we had no problem with petrol so that was one thing.

We knew we had a problem when we arrived to be told they desperately needed rain and had had none for ages. The river was so low you could have walked across it, the ducks were walking on the gravel at the bottom. But by this morning the river was flowing well and the level was high. The pair of swans have got 9 cygnets and a lot of the duck pairs had babies, one had 7 tiny ducklings.

We didn't do much walking as the wind was so cold but visited paper warehouse, Hayes, Lakeland, Colony candle factory shop, Hawkeshead, Ambleside, Bowness and Grasmere GC and spent money in each place.

I will go and read through what has been happening this week on this thread now.

Thinking of Elaine and her oh, hope everything goes well (sure it will).xx

Also Gail, off flying to be with her daughter xx

Had a bad night last night at ten to two our house shook! Woke oh and I up. Lots of doors slamming and shouting from the house joined to us. It was the 21 yr old son, having a row with his girlfriend. Someone shouting call the police then! The two of them stormed off down the street, to come back half hour later. Then at 20 to three the phone went!! Oh 's mate ringing to tell him "We are the champions"!
Could do without him starting that when he is drunk!
Tonight the woman next door seems to be having a ladies party! Loud music, screaming and shouting. Never rains ........

Well hope you all have a good weekend. xxx

Mary, I am very light on the coke as do not want to get too tipsy, and I know it is the coke that does it and not the bourbon. So am also watching my bones.

hello everyone,
just to say that I am managing to keep up with my outings--so far,so good.I am going little and often which I think is for the best ,rather than longer gaps and longer journeys. No full blown panics,so think I'm doing it the right way.

Hi Gail - enjoy the R&R, be good to YOU.
You're question re bourbon and coke made me giggle. I LOVE Coke - but haven't had any for probably a year. Since I discovered that fizzy drinks leech the calcium out ofm your bones, and I am making efforts to keep my bones strong, and since the children can no longer have any cane sugar or colourings, we no longer have anything fizzy in the house. (except between my ears LOL).
I'm getting quite tan frombeing outside so much recently, which gives the impression of excellent health, it's all an image and the tan was free LOL.
MiniMary and Emlyn are taking the afternoon off school today so they can attend Mummy's award ceremony, they are SO proud of her. Mary was here at 7am, worrying about what she should wear as she didn't want to "look wrong" and embarass her Mum. Bless her.
I'm heading outside between rainfalls, picked up 4 new small hostas yesterday for $2 each - one is called "Peace", that HAD to go in my garden!!
have a safe and happy day, thanks for the pm's which have made me feel warm and fuzzy.
love
Mary

Am back.......

Here begineth the first lesson, as promised.

I typed in ..www.beatingtheblues.co.uk..entered my given activate code number and started the programme. Obviously you need speakers and a printer to enable full utilisation of this course and feedback for final assessment.

It talks you through sections of 34 statements about how you have been over the LAST WEEK, a bit like multiple choice but asking what applies to YOUR situation and state of mind. e.g.
How you have felt about yourself. Have you had support when needed. Has talking to people felt too much for you. Have you felt overwhelmed by problems. Have your problems been impossible to put to one side. Have you felt panic and terror. Have you thought it would be better if you were dead, and so on.......
Depending on your input you are assessed weekly, and given a print-out Progress report after each session which are based on Anxiety and Depression, each of which are rated between 0 to 8. You are also given a print-out Problem diary, Monday to Sunday, each session. This you fill in each day with positive or negative things that take place........the next question being is, will I be asked to forward this written problem diary to my clinical assessor or will I be asked to fill in the info online at my next session?

There are 8 computer sessions which can be repeated if necessary and done at your own pace.

Our mood of the day is related to the number of positive and negative activities we do, the more pleasant the better we feel....so Joyce is off to the stables this afternoon to do some 'horse whispering', just hope my daughter's horses like me otherwise I will be in big trouble..lol.

Tesco's van has just pulled up and is about to drop off my weekly shopping so must love and leave you.

Any questions? just aim them in my direction, okay.

Hi again.

We are all going to stay at the cottage, my OH is driving there next week.

Daughter has a heart murmur plus other health issues and docs want to play it safe with a hospital birth. It was her first wish to have bub at home, but live too far from a hospital if things went wrong. Hospital is set up for water births if she wants to do that, she is going to use the water part and see how she gets on.

I have had great fun shopping on the net for baby, have purchased a few really nice things, but mostly basics like nappies, nappy buckets bunny rugs and blankets and a car seat. Plus set of scales and a SIDs alarm. Daughter used to stop breathing when a baby as premmie, and did not want to have to worry with her bub, great these things are available now.

Daughter does not have access to internet and waiting on a dish to get connected. That way they can send me picks and going to get a web cam as well.

Cannot wait to give daughter a cuddle, so much excitement.

Good morning to you kindly folk out there xx

So Liz you have found yourself a few leaders on Beating the Blues, brill and best of luck when you see your doctor on Monday.
Jules, all the paperwork and feedback for me to take part in this computerise therapy exercise is issued by the South Essex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, as mentioned before my own doctor initiated my taking part so the availability is out there for everyone. My own 'helper' who I interact with during my sessions mentioned three areas taking part, one being where I live, the other Castle Point, the third one...sorry I have forgotten Jules... but interesting to note that the whole concept of this interactive healthcare product was the brainchild of researchers from London and Newcastle universities together with staff at the specialist CBT department in Chelmsford.... talk about being right up your street Jules..
The whole concept of this on-line educational and awareness programme was to help people to learn to cope with anxiety, depression, stress and insomnia, then findings to be forwarded to one's own doctor, if in agreement. It also allows the GPs to offer non-pharmaceutical treatments and reduce waiting lists for cognitive behavourial therapy.
Also on a personal note it certainly takes the stress element out of facing a total stranger e.g. councillor, who may or may not ask you the right/wrong questions, cancel appointments, even not showing interest and lacking understanding.

Most GPs rely on their Primary Care Trust to arrange services like Beating the Blues for them and you may find that the PCT have not yet bought it for them to prescribe, so get chasing if you are interested.

Am away for a coffee break right now but will return in a little while to update you on my first computerised session.

Hi Gail, hope you can get RR - it is tried and tested by many folk and very safe.
What a wonderful place the holiday cottage sounds to relax before the big event, will you all stay there till things start to happen or can baby be born there?
Hope all goes well.

So glad you have got your Dad organised so you can relax a bit, and hope that flows as you have planned it. Hope he is better now he is home and among familiar things.

Enjoy the special experience coming up and hope everything goes as planned.

Hi all, my nerves are in tatters, excitement and apprehension (fear) all rapped in one.

Liz shopping is a problem where I live, usually go shopping every couple of months. Will have a look at destination for rescue remedy as will probably need it through the birth also for my OH and baby's father.

I have been very busy on the phone today and YES we have respite for my dad for up to a month. I am over the moon. Have also been organising his appointments for next week and someone to take him to them. At least my brain still functions.

Daughter and her OH are at the holiday cottage and relaxing before the birth, which is really great for them. It is right on the beach, as daughter is a real water person she is loving it. The whales pass by along the coast this time of the year as well, so we are all going to do some whale spotting. OH and I went last year (whale watching) and it was brilliant. We also got to see a baby whale with its mum.

I will be back.

Gail
