Eileen, my condolences to the family but a relief for her from pain. Yes it is a horrible disease, we have a good friend going through it at the moment. Please come back and see us, don't leave it too long.

My daughter's m.i.l passed away peacefully this morning at 5 am. She will be cremated on saturday, something she wished would happen on that day, as it is the 'easiest' day for everyone, i,e, no-one having to take a day off from work. Typical of her to think of this, bless her. Cancer is such horrible disease, so unfair!!!

Must go, lots to see to.

I was talking to a friend this morning who has been on Citalopram fro 2 weeks. Obviously it hasn't started to work yet and she doesn't expect it to for a few weeks. But she is getting a burning sensation all over her skin, under the skin which then makes her overheat. Has anyone else experienced anything similar. Her doctor doesn't seem to know what causes it.

Well done Ben, it sounds good.

Coombs is a notable West Country name. And the names of this Georges parents and my George's children and the date of baptism fits well.

I have extensively researched London registers and ruled out any George Coombs born 1780-1795 there. In 1841 his widow Sarah living in Marylebone said she was not born in county. I dont think my George came from London.

You dont have to have a reason to make a leap from one county back in many cases as London was a magnet for people from other parts of England. And the surname is mainly found in the west of England.

AnninGlos Report 13 Nov 2011 17:56

Hi Ben, Did he have a connection to Dorset? What makes you think this is your George. I am not saying it isn't but I am interested as to how you made the leap from London to Dorset. My Gt Gt Grandfather was a coachman in London, he was born in Hampshire then moved to London, he died about 1832 but can I find his death??? No I can't. I do hope you have found your man. Good luck with it Ben.

Hi all

I may have found the baptism of my ancestor George Coombs after 7 years.

My George was a London coachman. He died in 1831 in Pancras aged 41. So born about 1790.

His first son was called Matthew George Coombs. His first daughter and only known daughter was called Margaret Coombs.

A George Coombs was baptised in Bincombe, Dorset in January 1790 son of Matthew and Margaret Coombs.

Thanks Ann for thinking of me.

Hazel, the twins have grown so much I could hardly believe it! They look absolutely gorgeous. Just received a pretty pic of ours today in their coordinating coats, they are talking now and such fun. For the first time one of them asked where their Grandpa was - a memorable moment! Hope yours stay well over the winter months, I shall say one for them this evening. x

Thank you, Carole. I'll see how I feel on Friday. I did write a little email on Sunday but haven't heard anything back. It always irritates me that in society generally one normally gets a response back from an email within a day or two but not so with anything connected to mental health. We are obviously not considered worthy of a line acknowledging receipt of our letter :-(

Claddagh Report 8 Nov 2011 19:45

Thank you once again for your kind words Carole.

I have never really liked being in the limelight, fbut this year, it seems quite wrong somehow to be clebrating it, when my s.i.l's mum will be put on a special drip on friday, the beginning of a longish journey,It could take days before she dies.Horrific for them all to sit there watching her slipping away.My s.i.l went straight up to bed at 17.30 when they got home from hospital. He is very upset, needless to say.
His mum lives here in Holland.Daughter & her husband moved fromFrance last year to Ireland, as did their two eldest & their kids, and now their son moved there a couple of months ago with hs girfriend.I suspect their last child will move there soon with her husband too.

We all just want a peaceful, painless passing for s.i.l's mum.

Since I came up here to use the pc, the mobile of s.i.l has been ringing on and off.Probably their children calling.

Will try keep in touch more often.

Good night and sleep well everyone.

Eileen what ever is happening anywhere life goes on we can't stop that. So let your family try to make a little fuss for your birthday. It will most likely be a little light relief for them with
the terrible choices that await them. What country is sil's mum in? My she pass peacefully.
Eileen pleased you got your computer back. Mine is slow I wonder if it's all the stuff I have on the memory? On here the error's with posting are a nusance.

Ann like you say computers are great when they are running okay!

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 8 Nov 2011 15:39

Hello again Eileen, What a sad time in your family for you all and what a decision to be made.

Computers are great until they go wrong aren't they? then they are sooo frustrating.

Your SiL's Mother is obviously a very courageous lady and it is good that she has at least had 12 years of life after diagnosis. She is now facing the inevitable with even more courage and it will be her family who will suffer more than she does when she eventually decided it is time. I shall be thinking of her family and you at this sad time.

whether we like it or not be can't stop birthdays arriving so try and enjoy your birthday tomorrow for your daughters' sakes. many Happy returns. <3 <3

It took ages to get on here, ket getting a message saying 'error'etc. GRRRR.This happens all the time.

Am waiting for my daughter and husband to get back from hospital, quite dreading the news....

Thank you Carole & Anne for your 'welcome back' message. I am afraid I have been very lax in posting.a lot to do with BIG probs with this pc,even though it has been at the pc doctor twice ion a couple of months, nearly 4 weeks altogether, but also because of very sad, traumatic probs of a private and family reason. Sooooo sad and difficult.

Wish it wasn't my birthday tomorrow, I honestly don't want to distract anyone from the enormous probs going on, and because I know my daughter (s) want to make it something special, in spite of me telling them I HONESTLY don't want to celebrate it, as I did in previous years. No big deal as far as I am concerned. My g.son Douglas came along to pick up some things so he could give my old banger a small 'service'...this means more ot me than presents!!!!!! Her ex-husband came from France to be with her, he never stopped loving her. It is all so extremely sad.

Thank you for the support Anne & Carole. Must go see to a meal for daughter & her husband.

Eileen x

My s.i's mum is still the same as yesterday. none of us know when the terrible descision will be made.
