Hi gang

Did my usual stint at fhs yesterday so didn't get a chance to come on .

I am nominating myself as idiot of the year !!!
Came on pc earier and shock disbelief I had no internet connection .My live box was very dead not a blink from it . Major panic how do I survive without the internet !!
Phoned the expensive help line and got some man who I couldn't understand ( probably in India ) I had already checked all the cables but all the wires looked like spagetti junction .For 10 minutes we attempted to understand each other then I noticed the socket on the wall was switched off !!!!! Didn't admit that to him just muttered that I had an electrician in yesterday and he must have done something .
Fortunately the electrician called later other wise I was about to accuse him of causing the problem .
So people when any thing electrical won't work first check it is plugged in then make sure it is switched on !!!!!
Off now to hoover up the mess the electrician left yesterday while fixing my heating .

love to you all

Thanks everyone, there are some headphones somewhere but the lead isn't long enough so you have to sit on the floor, and I would never get up again lol, hard enough getting up off the sofa these days lol
I don't have a problem sleeping, just finding time to watch things I have recorded lol This tv is an old one his Dad gave him when ours had just packed up so not sure it will have a socket for the headphones or such, it isn't very sophisticated. It was only supposed to be for while he decided which new tv to get but here we are still stuck with it.
Will see if the headphones can be used with this and then get some with long wires.
Take care all, lots to do today before he gets home, have a good weekend all.
love and hugs

Eileen
I have a pair of cordless headphones but they are heavy on my head. I have surround sound from the TV with a speaker by my right ear so all I need are the subtitles for the soft bits I miss. I don't turn th tV up too loud because my OH has very sensitive hearing - he could hear a pin drop in the next street. well a bit of an exaggeration but you get the picture.

Lovely day here today.

Liz and Ann, I bought special head phones which could be plugged in to the t.v, so that my aunt could hear what was being said.I came home once, parked the car in the parking bay, could hear the t.v blasting away from about 100 meters. The plug had fallen out....Had to stop using them because the flex ran accross her room,so I was scared she would trip over it when her condition got worse. There are cordless head phones apparently, in the shops.
Sleepness nights are dreadful, your mind does tend to go round and round, like a hamster in a wheel.Night times are so awful when you have problems on your mind, see no way out of them.
Deanna, hope you are all feeling much better today. Mary, I will have a look at the garden center to see if they have that chocolate mint.Don't think so, as it is not a very inspirational place at the best of times.
To all of you who are feeling low, for whatever reason, take care.

Liz, have you tried watching the tv with the sound down and the sub titles on? Most programmes have them, with my hearing problem I use them all the time (except on news programmes when they ahve a delay and are annoying.

Hi Shaz, sorry I missed you. It is awful when you can't stay asleep and things start whizzing round in your head, and makes it all much worse. Hope you have found a good prog to watch on tv. I can't do that cos o.h. is in the bedroom above and the stairs at the side of the room are open plan, so if I want to be able to hear the programme properly it is a waste of time when he is asleep.

Ben, well done, keep trying to ignore those feelings, keep yourself busy and hopefully the ocd will disappear into oblivion.
There is a programme on tv next week about women hoarders lol, they didn't ask me, I wonder if I will recognise myself on there. Wish I could find the strength to get rid of things and get sorted out.
To everyone who is worrying about their loved ones, my thoughts are with you and hope things get better for you all soon.
love and hugs

You are doing OK Ben you admit that you know nothing bad will happen if you don't do the rituals, that is half the battle, well done.

Deanna, maybe we're not eating enough apples!!!

Elaine, wonder why they extended bail until June. could be because they have not found enough evidence to bring a case.

Hi

I am doing really well with my ocd lately. A few mental rituals but am resisting the urge to self harm, ie press hard on my neck pulses.

I am trying better at resisting the horrible rituals. I still worry that if I dont do one, then something bad will happen even though I know it wont.

Well everyone, I am too tired now to type too much.
Came on this morning and typed a big e-mail to a friend.... and deleted it.
But that is only because I am a genius....
However, we watched a really good DVD this afternoon and I came back on to re do any bits I had wanted.... short of course!
Now tea is almost ready, so I'm off.
I have read some of your messages and we are all a little under the weather this week, but keep smiling... it is the very best medicine.
a laugh a day keeps the doctor away... Well I wish.
We do enough laughing don't we?
SO... why are the doctors still in business?? ;-0)

love to all,

Hi Eileen, it smells like a chocolate mint sweet, a bit of each. The leaves are very similar to the 'common or garden' mint but with a brownish tinge. Smells so good LOL.

Good afternoon all,
Have not been on here for a while.Things are still definitely 'not good'.
Caz, I was shocked and sad to read about all the awful pain and discomfort you are suffering. Some people seem to get it all....very unfair. My heart goes out to you.
Gail, I am pleased that your dad is improving, albeit slowly.
Mary, have not heard of chocolate mint.Does it actually taste of chocolate or mint?
To everyone else on here who is suffering, mentally and/or physically, I wish you peace of mind and hope your sufferings ease soon.

Gail so pleased to hear that your Dad is getting better. Lots of positive thoughts winging their way to him
Liz, 11 hours! don't think i have ever slept that long but you obviously needed it.
YCaz, hope today will be a better one for you and that your pain will lessen at least a little bit.

I have minutes to type up from a meeting on Tuesday. Why am I happy to type away on here but it is a real effort to type up minutes? note to self *stop procrastinating and get on with it!!!

Hi Gail, good news that the crisis is over and your dad is improving, albeit slowly. You need to make the most of today and rest, put your feet up for once. Sorry I haven't pm'd you for a while I have had so much to cope with but we will catch up. I have a pen friend, 25 years we've been writing and I have not written to her since just after Christmas, used to be twice weekly. Trouble is that the smallest thing takes me so long to do that I always seem to have a full day of doing nothing.
Take care and enjoy your rest.

Update on my dad. He is improving very slowly. He has shingles very bad, in the eyes and mouth as well as face and head. He has started to get some sight back in his left eye. They have had him on morphine and are now weaning him of slowly. They had major problems getting a drip in as he was so dehydrated, but the fluids are helping.

I am having a break from the hospital today, only because he is improving and I am very worn out. It is a blessing that they kept him in the nearest hospital and did not send him away. They are so good to him there. Dad has been through so much and I have been there with him, this is the first time I have felt I may loose him. He is still hanging in there though.

I did not know that shingles could be so bad, I mean life threatening.

Dad said he can bear all of this to just see his new great grandchild. At least the new baby is giving him something to hang onto.

Will keep in touch and let you know how he is getting on. It looks for now that the crisis is over.

Gail
