Deanna Report 28 May 2010 17:26

I apologies to the friends I was not here to greet.
I have been staying off as I was found to have an infection, those who know me... know where!
Dragged me down a bit, but it also made me feel good just finding out what was wrong!!
A dose of fantastic *ANTIBIONICS* as they are called in our house... and I am already feeling a bit better.
What really gets me, is the fact that when we are ill we try to disregard any changes , as if they are only the next step in the illness!!!
Or is that just me?

Carole, I am so happy to hear some GOOD news for you.
And keep yourself warm/cool... whichever you need at the moment. XXX

Joyce, I am so sorry to have missed you but lovely to hear from you at ANY TIME, XXX

Thanks Stephen, we are quite proud of our little *self help group* started by Carole. thanks love.
Join us ... it is often great fun. We have many diverse problems, but the one thing we have here is AS YOU SAID.... support.

Well folks, I made the mistake of asking my lovely husband if he would like ME... to make a salad for tea....... The B***** said.. "ooh yes please!!"
I will learn to keep my mouth shut .... EVENTUALLY!! ha ha ha
Bless him, he does all the cooking for me, and a salad I can manage without the risk of burning myself.
Better start washing and chopping then.

Love to all,
See you again, now that I am getting better.
Oh yes, and I will be able to go to the pictures next week now that I am better.
What an exciting life I do lead!
I actually love my life... in spite of the problems. I am quite a ;lucky girl..... girl she says.... ha ha ha .

Am going to a high tea/astrological consult on sunday.Should be fun.Another daughter and a friend are organising this.Just a try out for now.

The weekend is at the door, hope you all have a peaceful one.

Hi Stephen, don't feel like an intruder, and please keep reading this thread, it may be that one time you might be in a position to offer advice or support to someone who needs a listening ear.

Morning all, thank you for your messages, and for being behind me all this time. I really am lucky, I woke this morning thinking yesterday was a dream, but of course it wasn't.
Colin the chemo is still shrinking the lesions, I don't know how it will affect the cancer in my bones, my collar bone is twice as thick on one side as the other so I have a visual check.
Two trips out has been too much for me but I still have the laundry to do at lunchtime, as you may know we have set times so we all get our washing done. Hubby is at home so he is going with me today, I will have to use my wheelchair as I have rubber legs today.
Wow I still can't believe it, I was talking to a lady of 96 in the waiting room, she has exactly the same as me and the same treatment. I felt so sorry for her as she said all she wants to do is go to sleep and not wake up, I know the pain gets to us but she must feel awful.
The pain from my other two illnesses is bad this morning, so much so that I groan involuntarily with every step, but what the h**l, we have beaten the b****r once again. I wish you all could feel as happy as I am this morning.

Love and hugs to all.
Caz xx

We were surprised here at how fierce the sun is from 5 -6 o'clock. So if it has been a cool day and the sun comes out.we find ourselves putting sun screen on even early evening

Caz, that is wonderful news for you I am so pleased. Now if only you could find a good painkiller.......

Mary we share your excitement and look forward to your dogs.

Gail, glad MiL is better.

Joyce, I am sure your neighbour appreciated your help and you will be able to share the bees and butterflies from her garden and enjoy the results of your labour.

Sydneybloke Report 27 May 2010 09:10

Good news for once, Caz- I am so pleased. I guess the chemo is a precaution.
Hello Mary, staying out of the sun completely seems a bit extreme. Let's face it, some of us down under know all about sun and skin. The message here is slip/slop/slap, a silly reminder to slip on a shirt (a light one will do, as long as it is long sleeved, slop on some sunscreen (see below) and slap on a hat. To me, if you have sensitive skin, sunscreen is probably best avoided. The clue is to stay out of the sun during the middle of the day. Here, that means 10 to 2, or 11 to 3 if daylight saving is in operation.
Having said all that, when I was a baby the advice was full sun for at least half an hour a day. I think the idea was to build up Vitamin D naturally, rather than cod liver oil supplements,
I spent many hours at the beach, swimming and even teaching children to swim. Now I have hundreds of what are called solar keratoses. Not cancerous, but I get a full dermatologist lookover every couple of years.
Hello to Gail and Liz, also J of P- nice to meet you.
Take care, Colin.

Hi my little sis, tis brilliant news about your scan results and I am thrilled to bits for you... best news I have heard since sliced bread lol.....
I have always believed that our prayers can and do work wonders when we send them out into the great divide, for and to those we hold most dear xx
Over the last few days my next door neighbour and myself turned a rather pitiful patch of her front garden into a hopefully colourful oasis for the bees, etc. all my compost and most of my plants have been utilised so am keeping my fingers crossed that our time was not wasted...saying that it is raining this morning which is brilliant news for the gardens and humans alike....yes Caz a bit like you I do not like the excessive heat and tend to hide indoors..even Toby prefers to sit in the porch where it is cooler but does venture out especially when the postman comes to call, poor postman lol..... but Toby did come up trumps when digging needed doing, if I hadn't stopped him I would have been hugging my son in Oz and taking tea xx.
My daughter S has to have keyhole surgery on her knee for tendon repair! on the 11th June, and yes she is looking forward to it because she has been in such agony since last October and only now have they managed to fit her in, what a wait.....she still goes to work, walks Toby etc and just grins and bears the pain like most of us do.....depending on the recovery time her and Toby's visits to the stables will be curtailed which will not amuse him, shame lol......
Mary, I would love to be present when your 'working' dogs arrive at your home and to see the expression on the children's faces...I came imagine there will be a instant bonding between animal and human, such a natural instinct of recognising and understaning the need for each other, miracles at work, yes xx.
Right Caz, time for me to shake a leg (not the wooden one lol) and get showered and dressed, shopping is being delivered around 9am so need to be suitably attired.....look after yourself my bonnie lassie and say hi to Cocky for me and tell him to behave himself, love to P also....
To all you other lovely folk out there, especially you Deanna xx...have a lovely day...
Lots of love

Oh dear Caz I am so thrilled for you, what a ray of sunshine to brighten your day. Just know we are in your corner, holding you tightly.
We are sweltering the past 2 days, I cannot believe we've also had some snow this month!! We went in no time from being too cold to work outside, to being too hot to even go out the door. How am I supposed to ready the garden for our open house on June 6th????? It actually looks much better in spots, but the overall picture isn't anywhere near what I'd like, but when I stop to think that my developing shade garden was a rubbish heap, full of broken bottles, beer caps, diapers, tins and loads of other mess 2 years ago, I am making progress. Patience is a virtue I have yet to achieve.
My dermatology checkup was fine yesterday, though there are several types of lesion present , all appear to be harmless as yet. How does he expect me to stay out of the sun, silly man, I can't garden indoors.
Off to bed now, just wanted to check in, we are getting excited about the arrival of the service dogs next Tuesday. Lots to do, not enough time.
Hugs
MAry

Caz some good news and I for one am just so excited for you today. I know that you are still in loads of pain and wish I could do something to take that away. So good news for a change. Have they fixed the heat problem in your unit/flat yet? Coming out of a very cold winter to a hot spring/summer is a big change, takes a bit to adjust as well.

Hope everyone is well or feeling better.

MIL had fluid around the heart and blood pressure sky high, she was in hospital for a week until they got her meds right, so all meds now changed and she is home and getting back to her old self, a social butterfly.

love and hugs

Hi Carole thank you, sorry to hear about your son and his girlfriend.
Well the news is good, the doctor had a smile on her face as she waited for me to walk down to her waiting in the door of waiting room. She said she is 'very happy with me', the scan showed up no new cancer and the lesions I had are inactive. My blood is also 100 % clear. I have a new course of chemo to start on Saturday as she is keeping me on it.
I know how happy you will be for me big sis, I might even ring you on Saturday if it is ok.

Love and hugs to all.

Hi all, thanks for your thoughts for me, got back about an hour ago and had something to eat now I'm off to bed as I'm exhausted. They couldn't get a vein to get the die in so did it without, it should show things up but there was nothing else they could do. They told me not to drink for a while as I am full of puncture holes, lol.
Forgive me Joyce but I will get round to writing I promise.

Love and hugs

Hello all, why are we on the fourth page? Deanna I will swap you flats, it is roasting here and all on top floor are complaining about the heat.
I would just like to ask you to send some positive thoughts for me tomorrow, I am going for a CT scan to see if the b****r has spread to my internal organs. It's affecting my eyes now as it is behind both so I don't post much or indeed put computer on, but I always look to see what you are all up to when I do.
Fingers crossed for tomorrow.

Love and hugs to all.
