Hiya Ann... I love ribbon, and was a bit upset when every glue I used either didn't stick it, or showed through... so I tend to either hide it with an embellishment.... or use pretty brads to hold it in place. I have scoured magazines to see how others do it... and they do the same... some even staple it in place... I used flowers with glitter brads on the last page I did, that had 1 1/2 inch gold mesh ribbon, with wired edges, and I used it as an extra wide border along two edges.... it seems to have worked well. I think it has, anyway!

Daff

Or pleat it in a wave so that it symbolises a snow drift.....

Thanks daff. I stick ribbon with double sided tape, it seems to work. You should know me, not enough room for snow drifts on the page - One large photo and 7 small ones!!!!

Shall leave it to rest until tomorrow now then look at it again.

Think I am catching it off Daff, just put glitter all over my snow photos!!

AnninGlos Report 25 Jan 2010 15:19

Finished the page, all snowy and glittery, very pretty!! Not a lot of journalling, not a lot you can say about snow. I have listed the birds we had in the garden though as there are a couple of bird photos.

Have just started scrapbooking :-) OMG addictive or what - I thought mine were preety good but then I look at other sites!! it took me a few days to have the confidence to actually stick something down then I did 3 pages one after other :-))

Scatty (is that Jan?)

Scrapbooking is very addictive but you don't have to be put off by what other people do. You have to do it to please you. I read a lot of the scrap book magazines and think, yes that looks great, but when I come to do my pages I realise that one photo is not enough for me, I need more than one photo to tell my stories.

~Hi Ann yes its me Jan from Bristol ~~~~~~
We have just becamme Grandparents so you can guess my subject lol and also my reason for getting into scrapbooking. I am actually attempting two one for our Grandaughter (I love that word) to match her baby book so its themed and came in a bundle with papers/stickers etc (Guess how much I love you theme) have now done two pages on that one which im pleased with . The other is my keepsake of her on which Ive also done two pages the first page is lovely the second page am not so sure on , theres not much room left but there seems something missing if that makes sense.?

AnninGlos Report 26 Jan 2010 15:50

Yes it makes sense Jan, What have you got on the page? One photo? or more, journalling? Title, date etc? Maybe it is missing something to draw you eye to the photo. flowers maybe? Colour?

Oh and congratulations on the birth of your granddaughter.

Thanks Ann
there is no journalling on it, the first page is mainly a poem with embilshments round the second page has two photos , her name going across center (Felicity) then there are various stick on tags and 3 tags that i made thathave ribbon through them with dob , weight etc there are also a couple of embilshments, looking at it now , I have her name meaning printed out that might just finish it off.

The name meaning would be good. The important thing I think is not to scatter embellishments or your eyes wanders over the page. You need something to centre your eyes on the photo.

Congrats on your granddaughter Scatty and a great reason to start scrapping.

I've spent most of the past two days tidying my hovel/craft room having reached the conclusion that the mess was not helping my creativity. Still got some stuff to sort but have done enough that I've been able to pick out some photos to scrap and make a card for the docrafts/cancer research campaign. Got a load of photos I need to get printed too but I think things are going in the right direction

Well done Sarah, my room is badly in need of a clear out too. So many interests, so little space

SarahSalopianScrapper Report 26 Jan 2010 18:13

scary thing is that I got rid of a lot of stuff that I knew I wouldn't ever use late last year and even without buying much it still seems to grow.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 26 Jan 2010 20:19

Actually I think it breeds in the drawers. What I want to know is why, if I have got so much stuff, do I have to buy something every time I go into a craft shop?

MrDaff

MrDaff Report 26 Jan 2010 20:38

So that's what happens, Ann, do you reckon R will fall for it? lolol... I have two drawers just full of cardstock.... and a big box.... my stuff really is breeding well, lololol

I am like a little magpie.... I just have to buy anything that looks cute, glitters, velvet, feathery.... well, anything, really. You never know when you might need it. Well, you don't, do you?

Jan use Stickles, little bottles of glitter glue that you can buy in Hobbeycraft. They have a very fine nozzle so that you don't put too much on. Crystal is white but put on coloured paper etc it takes on the colour of the paper. In a centrally heated room takes a couple of hours to dry.
