I am looking at 30 spools of ribbon here and in the drawer are quite a few sheets of stick on ribbon edging but two days ago I want a broadish purple and I didn't have it.... Why????

I read some of these posts out to R last night. He laughed.... said it sounds just like me.... I had to go out for red ribbon just the right colour... couldn't find it but managed to fill my basket with other stuff. I did put a rhino gripper (or something) back, as I wasn't sure if I would use it...... but now I think about it.......... mmmmm

I already have two shoe boxes full of ribbon... some I had already, in my sewing box.

And sorting through some blouses and stuff.... I saw some very pretty buttons on one of them....... lolol

I have just cut the buttons off two old shirts...... anyone know of a project for using those? I have zillions, lolol

Love

I have seen loads of pages in scrap book magazines using buttons en mass.

Talking of scrap book magazines, anyone any idea why I have not been able to get hold of a Scrap Book Inspirations magazine for a couple of months?

Scrapbook Inspirations has been cancelled Ann. Last issue was before christmas with no mention in it that it was the last one, I only know because it was mentioned on the uk scrappers forum.
They are apparently going to bring out idea books from time to time instead under the scrapbook inspirations name, that must be going ahead because a lady I know describes herself as a member of the idea book design team.

Daff if you have some all the same size, they look great as an edge round photos, or as borders, bottom and top of pages, you can also make a flower with them.... or spell out names.....unusual ones can be a feature on their own, I look out for very big decorative ones....I did one it was a large antique one,so I put it in a corner of the page, with ribbon coming from underneath looked very good....have a go..... you could glitter plain ones....lol....

Do not encourage her Jean!!! Glitter!!

Sarah, thanks for that, it will save me looking. what a shame I loved that magazine, preferred it to the Scrapbook Magazine. And it always seemed to sell out so must have been popular.
Not really a fan of the American style idea books.
Still it will save me money I suppose.

Jan, if you find out what it is let me know. *thinks, does daff have any Rhinos to grip???

I have not used buttons and have a large tin full so had better get my head around that one.

Does anyone else have my problem. I am doing a page and tried to do it with the photos diagonal on the page. Now this works for other people, why doesn't it work for me. I have to have them straight!

Scatty Report 5 Feb 2010 13:48

The only rhino gripper I can see is to do with rugs or something - I am so not starting rug making lol Rick would def divorce me.

I like using buttons in the centre of flowers but have also been known to use them as I would any other embelishment.
I have almost as many buttons as ribbons. I have little glass jars with them divided by colour and a large tin of vintage buttons mostly bought as a job lot on ebay. Reminds me of being small and playing in my nan's button tin.

And I've no idea what a rhino gripper is either the mind boggles LOL

Ann, like you I couldn't understand why I couldn't get Scrapbook Inspirations, it's a same about it not being published anymore, as I really liked that magazine.

Jean I use bottons on some of my pages, I like the ideas that you have just given Daff, they sound great. Thanks for that.

I haven't done any pages the last couple of days, like the rest of you I haven't got the right shade of ribbon to get on, so it will mean another trip to Hobbycraft or some other craft shop.

Speak soon. Sallie.x

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 5 Feb 2010 17:48
