Morning Ann, and everyone, I am at last back doing my scrapping, its such a while since I did any, I have to find stuff again.... I have just bought some pom-pom knitting wool, dont know if anyone has seen it, I want it to make scarfs, I first saw it on our local market,. it looked so classy made up, but its a nightmare to cast on, I managed to google it andthere is a video on you tube, so maybe it will come clearer....just wondered if anyone has used it....

Hi, to all the folk I havent met before, lovely hearing about all your crafting....

Daff, no stopping you now....lol...so we can all expect hand made cards next christmas????

Happy crafting ...Jean x

Glad you found us Jan. I decided to start the thread when the boards got a)boring and b) contentious knowing crafters wold all get along, it sort of runs parallel to the cardmaking threaf.

Jean, I've looked at the pompom wool and love how it looks made up but have to admit that I have always wondered how to start with it. Could have asked the ladies in our local wool shop but they always seem to unapproachable. Knowing I could find something on you-tube i might be tempted to buy some especially as the shop is shutting down - boo! - and they have a sale on.
Starting one knitting project before I start another would be a start I think

Take your camera then Jan, lots more pages. I know how you feel, our Grandchildren are older now but we do miss seeing them regularly, have always lived an hour and a half to two hours away from them

And I blame Daff!!! Just been to the Glos Dunhelm and found the craft bits, not a lot but still managed to spend £14. Did I need it? No! Did I want it? Yes. But Daff got the blame.

OH received an email from Martin Lewis's Money Tips and it recommended a papercrafting site....Mad About Cards....a family business.

There are certainly plenty of bargains to be had however on the downside there is a £15 minimum order plus p&p. I found many items that I would have ordered but not to that amount...which is a shame,

Anyway I just thought I would pass it on.

Thanks Linda, worth knowing.

Thanks Linda. Got to say that minimum order levels that high put me off.

My day crafting hasn't gone well so far. I'm having more hassle with ebay over stuff I've listed for OH and the LO I need to get done today for a challenge isn't coming together.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 14 Feb 2010 15:31

Not a good day then Sarah, does your LO have to be finished today? Can't you leave it until tomorrow? If not leave it for an hour and come back to it later.

Evening all..... hubby loved his card, lol..... and I have completely finished my very first Military page, plus I have layouts for 2 more, lol, just from the offcuts and scraps... that is the beauty of Military stuff... formal, anyway... you are limited to what you can do. But once you have got the colours right for stable belts etc... they come together very quickly afterwards.

I didn't use glitter... used three glittery brads, two holding olive green ribbon (gro grain type) folded in the way they fold ribbons for cancer charities etc etc... a couple of the guys in the photo are no longer with us.... and one holding the matching ribbon in the little journalling tag I have tucked behind the main photo, then twelve brass brads in various spots on the page... very restrained, lolol

Hubby is so pleased with it... he is busy scanning, journalling, etc as I type, for more pages.

And no glitter. Not a spot.... very good, I was, lol!

Wow, brownie points for Rick, that is some valentines gift Jan!!!

Daff, so pleased that R liked his card and also the page, well done.

MrDaff

MrDaff Report 14 Feb 2010 17:19

Ooooh you lucky girl you.... I have, very very casually, hinted rather broadly that a crop o dile would be extremely useful for the manly military pages, lol.... but I have to say, he is not always very good at picking up on hints!! And this month I have spent more than I ought, so have to wait until next month..... *sigh*... I would have got one the other day, too... but they didn't have them in and I spent the money on other stuff, lolol

I have just found this you might be interested in having a look at as well.... it makes using it look so easy!

Just had a peep Daff, seems a very versatile tool, but I dont think it would be easy to use if you have difficulty gripping stuff, I have a problem opening cans, so wonder how easy it is, but thanks for the link it opens lots of other craft sites..... your card was a great success I see, and the pages too...
well done...enjoy your rest....

love Jean xx

I've done the LO. And it has been uploaded in plenty of time for the challenge deadline of midnight.

I'd picked the range of papers I wanted to use, my photo etc I just couldn't figure how to do it. I went away as you suggested Ann because OH wanted help sorting his drawers and when I came back I started moving paper and got something I like. OH hasn't seen it yet and it's his photo I've used, the theme of the challenge was basically love and the papers I wanted to use are romance themed so although I pulled out the blues and greens from them there is also quite a bit of pink and red LOL. Oh and no glitter Daff but I have used a swirl of black gemstones.

Have fun with your crop-o-dile Scatty I love mine and wouldn't be without it now even if I wouldn't have choosen to have a lime green one, I prefered the pink or purple versions but it was a really good price so I took what I could get.

Jean if you can find somewhere or someone to let you have a try with one. I've a friend who suffers with Arthritis and was convinced that she would be unable to use it, she tried mine at a crop and by the end of the week had bought her own.
It takes a lot less pressure than you'd think and it is even possible to use it with a hand on each handle with practice and everything lined up

Sarah, thank you for the advice I will ask around my crafting friends to see if anyone has one,
