Cheshiremaid Report 12 Apr 2010 00:54

I live in mid Cheshire Ann. The garden centre is one of a large chain of garden centres, Strikes/Klondykes, here in the North West and Scotland however from what I can find googling not all of them have a craft shop so we are one of the lucky ones.

Pleased to hear you are feeling a bit better Sarah...don't do too much too soon. Dare I ask exactly how many distress ink pad shades are there please...with the 3 bought yesterday and the one in the QVC Tim Holtz kit...I have the grand total of 4 lol.

My dear OH bought me a Cuttlebug for Christmas the year before last along with a couple of dies and embossing folders...I am sorry to say that I have not used it. I can understand it being great for card making (not a cardmaker) but I am at a loss at how I can use it for my scrapbooking. Any tips gratefully received as I hate seeing it just sitting there in the cupboard.

Best wishes to all

Linda you could emboss paper for matting your photos, use dies to cut out flowers and butterflies etc to decorate pages.

I did get three cards made over the weekend but I have shingles in my arm which makes it painful to do anything foi long. Made a one year old a four year old and a Golden wedding card so feel quite pleased.

I've made some cards today, a set of ATCS for a swap and done a little more on an altered book project.

The main thing I use my cuttleug for with my scrapbooking is for cutting letters for titles. I have a bit of a thing for alphabet stickers but always find myself left with a shortage of vowels which is why I got the bug in the first place. I've got two of the cuttlebug alphabets which will even cut thick cardboard/chipboard and then I've also got some of the sizzix sizzlets alphabets (all picked up in sales or on offer).
Actually used an embossing folder on sister in laws birthday card today. It's got butterflies and flourishes and I embossed it onto coloured core card sanded it a bit sprayed it with shimmer mist and added a diecut butterfly - really pleased with how it has turned out.

Glad to see yr feeling a bit better Sarah.
I havent managed to do anything as the house is upside down as we are getting all the rooms ready decluttered, spring cleaned , fresh paint where needed ready to put house up for sale - My promarker order should be with me any day so when they arrive it may be a different story as of course I will have to try them out ;-))

Are you moving locally Jan?

Scatty

Scatty Report 13 Apr 2010 21:46

Yes Ann staying in Bristol - found a nice house in Thornbury but Mags told me thats to far from her lol - we are looking for a certain house if that makes sense a house that suits us , we have a lot of wishes for our move so it could be sometime lol

I think you know if a house is for you the minute you walk through the door, as if it has been waiting for you. Good luck, I hope you find what you want. Or it finds you.

Thanks Ann
we went to look at two that were very nice but they were too near busy roads - We couldnt stand the noise and we have 3 cats, although they dont travel very far out of our garden when we move they will probably explore so busy/main roads are def out
We are in no hurry to move which is good :-)))

Many thanks Ann & Sarah...gadgets and I don't usually mix lol...I will have to have a look for extra dies and embossing folders. I did buy a folder of a Christmas tree earlier on last year thinking that I would try my hand at cardmaking and then I didn't get round to it...too busy scrapping photos of our latest grandson born in the November.

Sarah you mention Sissix...reading your post I am presuming you can use these on a Cuttlebug however do you use the dies and embossing folders exactly the same way as using the Cuttlebug dies and folders please?

Good luck with your house hunting Jan...I agree with Ann you will know as soon as you walk through the front door it is home. We decided to move from our home town to some 50 miles away due to my OH's work...the travelling was a nightmare for him and I was pregnant at the time. It took us six months to find our ideal home. By the the time we moved in our youngest was exactly four weeks old and it was our first home with central heating...absolute heaven! That was 30 years ago and still here...where does the time go lol.

I have been reading the threads about the unmentionable meet Daff... it seemed all went well lolol. Perhaps I may pluck up the courage to go to the next Chester meet...if there is ever another one sometime.

enjoy your pro markiers Jan.
Linda, you can uses Sissix dies in your Cuttlebug. You may need to put an extra piece of card in if the die is thinner than the C dies. I think it says in the C instruction booklet that you can use alternative dies.

Shame they stopped selling them in their store, used to buy quite a bit there when we went to the Lake District.

Many thanks Ann...I have looked at the instruction booklet...why didn't I think of that doh!! For using other brand thin dies you replace one of the B plates with the C plate so it says!

I have been doing a bit of experimenting tonight I am trying my hand at stamping and powder embossing. I bought a Versamarker pad and a couple of Cosmic Shimmer powders last weekend and I have incorporated an embossed design on to a page I am doing at the moment...I am really pleased with the result.

I bought the Craft Stamper magazine yesterday...I have been dipping into it today and I have found it really good. I will definitely buy it in the future.

I hope you have enjoyed using your promarkers Jan...something else I have to try. Am I the only one who is overwhelmed by all the techniques and the ever growing list of products that are available on the market these days lol.
