l am trying to find a John Fegan...born between 1918-20. Place unknown. He worked in the Royal Ordnance Factory in Pembrey, Carmarthenshire in 1937-1939. He is on the electorate register of 1938....living in Burry Port. Because of the nature of the factorys work then no details of workers can be found. He left in 1939....and l can't trace him after that. Any ideas or help would be appreciated. He owned a car...unusual for that time...but couldn't find any details from the DVLA.

How have you got to his name ? there must be some family background to him.

The name is strongly Irish so he may have returned to Ireland .He would have been old enough to be conscripted in the Forces in WW2 too

Only information l have is that he could be English or Welsh....not Irish. l had looked at that one...but thank youI Yes...l did think of forces...but working in the bomb factory he may have been exempt?

If he was on the electoral roll on 1938 he had to 21 or over at that time .

So would make his birth c1917

On FreeBMD there are only two births 1915 and 1918

Both born in the Liverpool / Toxteth area.

Liverpool had many Irish immigrants so his family could still be Irish

How have you come to his name .you must have some family background to want to know more about him . If not how would you know any info found is for the right man

Well.....my mother-in-law went out with him. Basically....she only told my husband a few years ago that he was his father. He could be dead for all l know.He grew up thinking someone else was his father....but wants to know if he has any other family out there. He went when she told him she was pregnant!!! l think he sounds terrible...but there you are. l put a post in a online site for Burry Port....as someone may have known him....no response....but as you can appreciate/////have to be subtle as its a sensitive area......her family never knew. She is alive but has dementia....so no help really.

Yes can see its sensitive . But without further info on the man then it would be difficult to know who he was and realistically very delicate to ask anyone if they or their dad was the father.

From what you have said that he walked out when MIL was pregnant then the likely thing is he never told anyone about her .

Three possible deaths on FMP, but, as the man is unlikely to have told his family about the child, one hesitates to post any info

According to this, building on the factory didn't start until July 1938 and it didn't open until Dec 1939.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ROF_Pembrey

If he left before it opened, he must have been involved in the construction of the building and didn't actually work in the factory.

l put needle in haystack because l know it is. Have told my husband that its very unlikely that he will ever know.He just keeps hoping that someone will know him from working in the bomb factory before the war....he may have told someone stories about it? Someone may recognise them.

Ah thats interesting.....yes...must have been a builder then. went to the National Archives and they had nothing relevant to that period....still said it was secret!! Cant see why if he was just a builder though.
