I found out couple of yeare ago my dad and step mum had a child unfortunately he knew nothing about the child till many years later, I have since found out roughly when he was born, town where he was born, I know my step mum name dont know what else todo any help appreciated, please :-)

so was the child born before they married ?

If you know the town and step mums name then look on the births for a child with her maiden name

Yes child born before they were married I found a birth her name and town but nothing else

well if she was single when she married your dad any birth will be in her maiden name with mmn the same

Hi misty my stepmum passed away in 1990, I do know what her maiden name was, I know my brothers birth name and I know she was in an unmarried mothers home when he was born I also know the town where he was born but im afraid that's where it goes cold as they say I cant get any further than that, we never spoke about it much while she was alive as she used to get very upset, all I know is the above what she told us, oh and I did find out he was born september 1970 but nothing else . my dad also only knew what I know now. :-(

When did your dad and step mum marry? How long before this was the child born?

If it was quite a while before the marriage can you be sure that your dad was the father of the child? If they were together before the marriage wouldn't your dad have known about the child?

Sorry that seems a lot of questions. Just trying to sort it out in my mind.

If you know his birth name and when he was born you should be able to find his actual birth cert

But you won't be able to know his new name.

You can look on members trees under the search heading above to see if anyone has him in their tree under his birth name

You could also add your details to the national adoption contact register

No kath my dad did not know about his son he was never told as when my step mum found out she was pregnant he had joined the army, and yes I am 100% positive my dad is his father too, my brother was born in 1970 and I was born beginning of 1973, they got back together many years later which is when he found out, plus my step mums family have also confirmed he was the father, my step mum And dad never stayed in contact once he joined the army.
