Did you see the point Jan made about contacting the library closest to the cottage to get the names of the people who lived there from the electoral roll? |

Do you live locally? It might be worth checking out the electoral register to see who was living there. The idea being you might be able to identify her parents & maybe siblings, and from there pin down her birth. Or even track down other relatives. |

Sheena, you have marked my reply as 'answered' - this will indicate that your query is dealt with, which of course it isn't (it's an annoying Genes feature, not being made clear what it means!). |

If Holland was Elsie May's maiden name there are only a couple of options for John's birth within Cheshire- a John W born 1941 Wirral, and a John A born 1943 Hyde (Hyde included Stalybridge until 1974). |

I am looking for a John Holland born possibly in Cheshire to an Elsie May Holland who lived in Gorstage near to Weaverham at the time. We believe he was born between 1938 and 1941. John left the area aged @ 10 years old with his mother who we are told married a man with a foreign name? John was the son of my father-in-law John "Jack" Beech of Weaverham Cheshire. John paid maintenence until John was of age but had no contact that we know of. Stalybridge could be connected. A cousin recently said he had contacted John and that he did not want to know the family but his half sister Christine is very keen to meet and know him as the children did not know about his existence until very recently. We believe the cousin who acted without the familys knowledge may not have approached the situation well. Thank you |
