Trying to find any info. David Lawrence Walters was born 1966 at Nottingham. I think he was born Tarpey and his surname changed when he was adopted |

According to the birth index David Lawrence Tarpey was born in 1967. There is nothing on the index to indicate that he was adopted, although he could have been. |

Normally we'd suggest that birth relatives register with the Adoption Contact register and hope that the person has too |

There is a possible birth of a child with the forenames David Lawrence born in the last quarter of 1966 who appears to have been adopted (there is a "/s" at the end of the page number on his birth reference) but the birth is in Northhampton rather than Nottingham. |

Great that you have found a more likely birth Dave. I didn't have time last night to go through extra years. |

Surely if it is the police and coroner's office appealing for info they have confirmation of his dob - from bc (or adoption cert), passport or employment details/NI number? None of which would have his birth name if he was adopted - and none would list his adoptive parents. They claim he was born in Nottingham, this must have come from somewhere surely they wouldn't pluck that out of thin air. |

Just to point out that free bmd has not transcribed lots of the records for that year - if you look for all births in Nottingham for December 1966 there are a lot of Hills and not much else. |
