there are no public records by which you could trace him in Canada (not even the passenger record) ... privacy laws prevent access to birth, marriage and death records for any relevant period

the name is so common that your task is very close to hopeless ... from his birth record he did not even have a middle name to help you

I don't suppose he had any children before he emigrated? just a chance of a more uncommon name, a younger generation maybe more likely to have an on-line presence ...

there are a dozen D Grahams in Toronto (no David w/o a middle initial listed)

http://www.canada411.ca/search/?stype=si&what=d+graham&where=Toronto%2C+ON

... and that is assuming he remained in Toronto

... and even then, that he is in central Toronto and not in one of the adjoining small or large municipalities (you can see on a map)

the big toronto newspaper is the Toronto Star

you could try placing a personal notice with details :-)

you could include a gmail address for example

or just send letters to all the D Grahams in the telephone directory on line! nothing ventured, nothing gained ... and the chance of him or anyone who knows him in Canada seeing this message is about zero unfortunately

he had no brothers or sisters in England who would be in touch with him? it looks like he had 3 brothers (1 younger) and a sister

Have you tried looking for his siblings ??

They may have a current address for him ,or can give info on him and his family now

Presume your dad is one of his brothers ????

Shirley I linked to the Canadian white pages

http://www.canada411.ca/search/?stype=si&what=d+graham&where=Toronto%2C+ON

as I said, a dozen D Grahams in Toronto proper alone :-)

I did think that Jennifer might have acknowledged the help and suggestions

rather than the terse 'had two brothers' (how does that help anyone help her??)

and 'could be in Ontario' (well yes Toronto is in Ontario and canada411 shows ... 521 results for D Graham in Ontario)

but who knows, maybe David will see this message some day :-S
