It was requested in the first link that you stick to one thread and not keep posting new threads about the same thing, it isn't fair to people who try to help, who have spent time 'finding' you things you already knew

I mean you say here that she was born 'approx 1939' when you know quite well that her birth was registered in early 1940 because you have been given the birth registration details more than once in the past, if you didn't already have them (and you will only know when she was born if you get that certificate)

if that thread was yours you have a new account, which seems kind of pointless

if you had kept the same account, all you had to do (and all you need to do now) is click on 'My threads' over on the left to find what you have posted, and add a message to it and it will return to the top of the list

or follow the advice at the bottom of this post :-)

it is frustrating for other members when this happens

by the way, how do you know of the marriage to Mr Ali? when did you last know Mary, and where?

Anne, if you get Mary's birth certificate you can search the deaths index using her exact date of birth, in case she remarried or they did alter their surname.


note to others now that I have read all the other threads:

the search is on behalf of one of Mary's sisters so presumably tracking down siblings will be no help, just in case someone was considering giving that a try

I wonder whether "Sandagar" is a result of a slip twixt certificate and index. It doesn't seem to be a name.

"Saudagar" is a name, and we know how easy it is read some handwritten 'u's as 'n's (and vice versa).

... yes in fact that is how familysearch has the name, and the name Saudagar Ali is fairly common, according to google results.

That doesn't seem to help much but at least you know better what to look for.

I wonder though whether he might have anglicized his name.

Yes, that is the name I got. (Couldn't remember how to spell it!)
II cannot find a death for Mary or Sandagar. I just wonder where they are?

his name is Sandagar Ali

Thank you Shirley. Right lady, she married a chap named S, Ali in Stepney 1961 and since then, no trace.

The only way to know if it's the right marriage is to get the cert to see her age and father's name on the certb

Her birth is reg mar qtr 1940 mmn Jackson

Try looking for siblings and the parents marriage

Have you looked to see if she is in any members tree ?

Mary was born in Keighley approx. 1939. Moved with her family to Lancaster Lancs.
I think she married in 1961 in Stepney, London.
Any info would be gratefully received. Thank you.
