You could see if Sarah would tell your mum when and which adoption agency/Social Services were used. You could then contact them and ask if they would hold a letter on file to pass to 'Louise' if she ever accessed her file. It might turn out that it was such a traumatic time for Sarah that she'd rather not open old wounds.

Apart from the Adoption Contact Register as posted earlier, it is possible to find Louise's birth registration entry on the subsciption site Ancestry under both her father and mother's surnames. That site allows users to leave 'Additional Comments'.

Assuming you don't have a sub, you can normally access the site at a UK library for free. You could leave a message to the effect that Lloyd birth family would welcome contact, and give a generic email address such as @gmail, @hotmail etc etc.

Its a long shot, but worth the risk.

If you use the "Search" facility on this site - which can be found at the top right of the screen in the second line of bold writing. Click on that and then click on "search all member trees" In the search box that comes up put in the name Louise Lloyd, birth year 1988 and click search.

There is one person called Julie Lloyd who has Louise in her tree. You can then click on "Find out more" where you are able to send a message to Julie. Be aware though that you don't always get a reply straight away (if at all), because Julie could have stopped using the site or changed her email address since she first registered with Genes. If she still has the same email address then Genes will notify her that she has a message from you.

Your uncle should know when this happened as he would have given his permission for the adoption.

Perhaps she was adopted by Sarah's new partner?

Welcome to the boards Mike.

The first thing you should do is register with the Adoption Contact Agency so that if Louise tries to find her birth family and also registered you can both be put in contact with each other.

You should add Louise's birth name to your tree on here so that if she starts looking for information about her birth family and registers on here then she will find you.

Hi all,

my Uncle Steven Lloyd had a daughter with a woman called Sarah Baldwin in 1988 called Louise Frances Lloyd who was born in Middlesex hospital, I have found details on this site about her. Sarah and my uncle split up when I was about 7 years old in 1989/1990 and she took Louise with her and I haven't seen her since and neither has my uncle. I have recently found out Louise was given up for adoption (not sure when) so I'm a little stumped on how to try and get contact (unless she is registered on here of course :-)) of course her name would have been changed upon adoption or given her age now is 28 she maybe married.

can somebody help me???

Thanks

Mike Thorburn
