Two other Yockneys casualties in WW1:

BURCHELL, JOHN YOCKNEY Private 260310 27/08/1917 20 Worcestershire Regiment United Kingdom Panel 75 to 77. TYNE COT MEMORIAL

LANE, LESLIE YOCKNEY Rifleman R/41818 25/09/1918 22 King's Royal Rifle Corps United Kingdom IV. O. 10. BELLICOURT BRITISH CEMETERY

Is there any reason why James would be more likely to be a connection?

His birth is easy to find on FreeBMD, I can find him as a lodger with the Williams family in 1911 but not on 1891 & 1901 to check his parents.

There is an article in the Western Mail dated 26 December 1892 about a 10 year old of that name from Cardiff who was given 1 days imprisonment and birched for stealing a coin and chain.
