I am wondering if anyone can advise me. Family folk lore says that an ancestor was in the Black Watch and I have found Helen Marriott who was born in Edinburgh in about 1861. She has a brother John also said to have been born in Edinburgh so am assuming some truth in what is said. However Mother in Law couldn't remember any names. |

I don't see the birth of a Helen / Ellen / similar Marriott (or alternative spelling) (or Vincent) anywhere in Scotland 1850-70, per ScotlandsPeople. |

Where have you "found" Helen and John? |

This James Vincent is a tailor in Glastonbury, and married to a Mary - but it's 1841 - 20 years before Helen's supposed birth, so I assume this is not the right couple ? |
