I am trying to find out about a Ronald Albert Cudmore. He was born in Exeter in1917 and died in 1997.
Family say he served in Burma but I can find no record of his service career.

Records of service are held by the Ministry of Defence (MOD) and The National Archives (TNA).

Apply to the MOD first. If they do not have a record, they will pass it on to TNA.
Be prepared to wait.
My first application 13 months......still waiting for the second.....

However, if he was a POW there are other records that may be available

Thanks everyone have applied to the Somerset L I museum for details. At the moment it is a bit of a waste of time contacting TNA as they are working on the Army stuff that was sent down from Glasgow and say they wont be done until 2027..
