Her marriage to Brennan was in Ireland as DOWNES

I don’t l]know what makes OP think the man named on his birth certificate wasn’t his father……..

No sign anywhere that Melita married that one

Does anyone remember Mary Melita Downes/ MacKenzie /Vandenberg.

She was in the WRENS (45602) in Portsmouth between 1942-44

She lived in Beacon Cottage, Beacon Lane Southampton in the late forties. Also in Holly Hill Lane, Sarisbury I believe.
