Sue, that's what i thought at first as per my post above but i think it has more to do with the discussions on the home page if Terence does not come back to this thread we will never know for sure

I have just done a search and clicked on the first thread shown in the results and the word i used was found using the "Find on this page" facility in my browser the word first turned up in a post half way down the page, "7th post/reply" i did a word count manually and lost interest after 70plus words

I think I know what Terence means.

The first six or eight words of your comment appear as well as the title.

If you are browsing the latest chat topics you can't always tell what a posting is about even from looking at the first half a line & the title.

Arrrrr Jax It all makes sense now, (I think?)

discussions on the home page

That would be the none discussions that we have been trying to get GR to remove because of the time wasted and confusion it is causing for members

Is this got anything to do with the discussions rubbish that is mentioned on your home page?

Or is it something you would like everyone to do from now on for your benefit?

Not sure what your point is?

are you specifically asking for the into on the community boards?

if so each board has it's different purpose so the topic can vary,

also each request can be for different types of records and by adding info to a topic can help attract helpers with the specific knowledge/resources to help with that request,

not all requests are for look ups for people

May be you could clarify just what the problem is from your prospective

hmmm I kind of disagree actually :-D

As long as the name of the person/s, date and place is clear in the post , I don't mind that it is not in the Topic header...after all some of 'us' particularly like to help the ones who have been going round in circles the longest...more of a challenge ;-)

Edit: though it would help if "Irish", "Australia" etc were in the topic where relevant, just easier to avoid if you don't have access or experience of those areas . :-D

I wish you would kindly ask all Members to clearly write the name of the person or family and date that they are enquiring about in the Topic column, AND NOTHING ELSE. When scanning the hundreds of entries that's all we want to know at first, not chat like "I am going around in circles, please help me", with no mention of the subject.
Please ?
