Community Advisor Report 3 Sep 2013 10:03

3rd September 2013 – A round-up of the latest suggestions from the Suggestions Board:

• Adoption register details on the Find Living Relatives boards – can GR not provide a link to adoption agencies at the top of the board?
- At the top of the FLR board we have written an introduction to the board which has a link to a separate page which has further advice and links to adoption agencies.

not much else they can do, I think!

As PP says, we have to rely on people to read things first :-)

AmazingGrace, I see where your coming from and their is only so much info that can be included in the board header without putting people off but to be honest If people are looking to find their adopted children of their birth parent/s then they must realise that a certain amount of research is required and so reading up on the subject is the first thing they need to do so following the links at the top of the page shouldn't be too much trouble, Problem these days is everyone expects someone else to do it for them.

You can take a horse to water but getting it to drink is another thing entirely

I guess people just don't read...maybe it needs to be re titled specifically as adoption...maybe then people who reply to a post could attach the link to the relevant thread?

Just trying to think of ways the process could be improved for all parties ...

The info for adopted persons is actualy their on the FLR board if people would only read it and follow the "links" at the top of the board the info ends with "please see our guide" here, the word (here) is the link

If you click on that link it takes you to another page with furfure info and 2 more "links" and yes one does take you to the government web site where you can access the adoption registry web site

Apologies if this has been asked and answered before..

Just curious whenever I look at the Find Living Relatives board a large number of requests for help are in connection to an adoption.

Usually someone kindly provides a link to the adoption registry and advises the poster to register their details.

Could GR not have a sticked post with advice regarding adoption? It may help a lot of people who do not know where to make a start etc? I'd imagine if I was in that circumstance and saw a thread with information about adoption, who to contact etc, it would be valuable.

What does anyone else think?
