Hi Everyone

Welcome back Sylvia,we have missed you glad to hear you had a good break.

Anne I do not know how you do it to yourself ,I hate getting out of bed in the morning to early,8am is my idea of a good time to rise and I try to go to bed about 10.30.pm.
I have not yet needed a Nana nap in the mid afternoon as do a lot of my friends.
Mind you today would have been a good day to start...we have been out in the forest today getting wood with the Sister in Law and her husband ,they are really nice and so easy to get along with.
It did rain a little today but it was fun ,I was so warn out when I got home but I have perked up a bit in the last hour of so getting my second wind .
I know I will sleep well tonight.

We are watching Aussie Rules Football at present but our team is not doing so well,I hope they pick up soon or the OH will be in a mood.

Robert it is nice to hear from you again ,I hope you are doing well and keeping out of trouble.

Cynthia
I agree with Anne ,just let them get on with it ,I have helped the same women three times and she still can't get it ,I found myself worrying about a perfect stranger,I don't do it anymore .

Well I am going to poor myself a nice glass of Cab Merlot, it is a Rosemount 2008,really looking forward to it .

Love to everyone <3 :-)

Well back in the office - at 5am today - hurrican in NY seems to be giving us a lot of work & headaches.

Nice to see you are both still afloat Robert

Just signed up to 3 x 5am starts next week - i knew I was mad but this has now proved it - OH will be even grumpier than normal - i keep telling him it pays the bills.

Cynthia - go & have a lie down dear - don;t know how you deal with it all on the boards - some of them leave me frazzled & i only read them .

Just been checking my emails (as out yesterday) 89 in one day & they knew I was out.

Never mind only here till 1pm today phew

Show last night was great - funny little theatre & not many people - but we had a good laugh & OH enjoyed him self - its called "See How They Run" its still finny its the 4th time I have seen it - last time was back in the 80's so good to ahve it back again. If you need a good laugh go & its in your area - pop along.

Well need to check everything else out & see whats been going on.

Hugs & waves to the missing ones ((((((~~~~~~))))))

Take care all <3 ;-) <3 ;-) <3 <3 ;-)

It must be eating all that porridge Robert which keeps you hardy Robert.

Nice to see you back Sylvia and glad you had a good time without any unwelcome visitors.

Theatre? You are so lucky. I love going to the theatre but don't really get the chance. I suppose I could sort myself out though. We have a very good Little Theatre and I used to help there until my OH developed Parkinsons.

I remember prompting for several nights at their production of the Anne Frank story........each night it sent shivers down my spine as I sat huddled on a chair with my eyes glued to the script and a torch in my hand.

Have received some very odd pm's today from people I have sent messages to. Quite a lot of people struggle with how to use the Community boards and I am frazzled through trying to talk them through the process.........

It's been a long day so I will send my love to all - especially our missing friends.

Hi all
xxx

Congratulations Sue!

we got back yesterday evening (ie, Wednesday), but am still trying to catch up!

We had a good time, but boy, it was cold at night!

The lowest overnight temperature was -4C (yes, MINUS), the highest was 11C. All the others were 1 or 2 degrees either side of 0C

The days were quite pleasant at around 18/19C on most days.

But it did mean we had the fire lit most mornings, and most evenings!

Good job we found our winter flannelette night wear in the box labelled "cabin clothes" ...................... the bed was lovely and cosy, but, oh, it was cold if you had to go to the loo at 3 am!

We had had no invaders, of either the 3- or 4-legged variety

we're going away again for the first weekend in September, staying with our best friends on Vancouver Island for the holiday weekend.

Hi Everyone

It is very cold here are the moment so the fire has been going ever since we got home last Saturday.

We need to go out to the forest again for some more wood we will be doing that tomorrow.
The Oh has just got home from work ,I think it is taking him a bit of time to get back into it again ,he is coming home a bit grumpy.
Still we can't be on holidays all the time ....I can't afford it for one and I hate being away from home for too long.

Anne we had our children young as well so we have grown up with them really ,our Grandchildren came early too so we are all young having families young ....we all get along well too.

I for one can't wait for the new baby to get here but we have a long wait to go yet,I still can't believe it.
I love having the kids around me ,I did babysit all five of my Grandchildren while the Girls worked as it help them get on there feet and buy there own homes.
I did not find it too difficult as we all went off on our bikes for a ride most days that kept them busy and not too board, they also loved the movie the Poseidon Adventure with Shelly Winters ...do you remember that it was the original one ,I had to keep playing that over and over.

I miss the kids as they are all grown up now the youngest is 15,they don't need babysitting anymore but they all do come over to see us very regular.

The Hubby's side has all been visiting a lot lately from the big smoke so I am all inlawed out for a while but we do all get along well.

Oh is beckoning me to go out shopping so I had better get at it ,the cupboards are a bit bare and he need his bits and piece to watch the football tonight.

I need to figure out what to cook for dinner too.
We seem to have lost a few lately, hope the boys are OK.

Morning all its 5am on a very dark morning - but quite warm still

I agree with Cynthia - I think the old style prams are making a comeback - but they are the devil to try & get on a bus - they don't fit.

The new ones seem to be very clever & so many different styles now - let alone colours

Sue its nice you are young enough to enjoy the Great Grandkids when they arrive.

John's parents are in their late 80's - one 90 next year & find the little ones a bit noisy & busy for them now as they are 2 x 7 & 1 x 5 - It wasn't too bad with the first GGchild as he is 14 now so they were a bit younger then & could cope with a baby around - also he was a very unusal child - he just liked sitting quietly & being cuddled on a lap for hours or read to. So MiL loved that so did SiL.

They didn't know what hit them when the girls came along - i never realised just how noisy children were at 6am in the morning or how demanding. We did a few holidays with them all.

We booked a shared cottage for the week - not too far away from home as the kiddies don't travel very well.

Perhaps I have strange ideas & they are the normal people - I will leave you to let me know.

My idea of a family hoiday together is that at least one day you all go out together - so you can enjoy being with the children as well - oh no - everyone went their seperate ways until the evening & then you were expected home for tea by 5:30.

We went out somewhere for the day just the two of us - Family went their own way - Sil with parents on their own - all to different places. Very occasionally we bumped in to the in laws but never stayed together. We tried to suggest we join the children one day as I would have loved to see the children enjoy themselves outside the house - but the nieces hubby was not very happy with the idea. He wanted them to be a family unit when they were out - no outsiders or Grandparents around.

It was always a home cooked meal in the evening as my SiL either came back early or stayed behind to cook a decent meal for the children each day, I really don't think she enjoys holidays. J's neice always did a packed lunch for them & the children each day as she didn't trust any food out.

Both her & her mother insisted on disinfecting the childrens rooms, kitchen & all bathrooms daily, if not twice. You never know what kid of germs you get in these places !!!!!!! They were forever getting the wipes out & cleaning the surfaces where the children were playing.

We had a meal out one evening as it was a treat to be away from the cooker & they were all really miffed over it - we had told them not to cook for us most evenings as we would get something lunch times, so it wasn't as if they had a meal waiting for us. They wanted everyone to sit & eat togehter as a family!!!!!!!! :-0 :-0 :-0

We even dared to bring fish & chips back one evening as we passed a very busy chippy on our way home most nights. It came recommended in the guide book - so we thought why not - & we had told them not to cook for us. My SiL was most upset as we obviously preferred take away to her cooking. It was spag bol that evening & OH hates it. :-P ;-)

Well we gave up in the end & In laws said they were too old now - so nieces family now go caravanning - but never eat out - she always cooks & they only travel at most 4 hours away from home now, as the youngest one was very car sick when we went to south Wales.

Two yrs ago they took the eurostar to Disney for 2 days & the youngest was travel sick both ways. The children wern't that keen on Disney as it was too noisy & busy - they went on one ride each & wouldn't try any others. The Niece was most upset as they woudln't let them take their own food in the park either - so she made the children eat a lot of breakfast & went back to their room lunch time for a snack & then back to the park. The ride they did go on had to be wiped first & the children had to have their hands wiped when they came off the ride - because of germs.

Well dawn seems to have broken & I have had a few calls already

Love to all the missing ones <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 come back soon

Will see if I can pop in again later today - only working till 2:30 today as tomorrow is going to be a long day.

Take care all :-) ;-)

Hi Everyone

Cynthia I remember those prams ,I used to take my Aunty Phillis's baby for a walk in one it had a conopy over the head of the pram to keep the sun off the baby and it had tassels hanging from it .
I would live to get one of those for my Granddaughter but I have not seen one for years.

We are both very excited I love babies and we are still young enough to enjoy them being around us.

I don't think they have any names yet as she is only a couple of months along ,I can see her with a girl but we don't really care as long as he or she is healthy.

I finally finished my washing today and got it all dry ,there are a few rain free days to come so I am going to do some blankets as well.

It is nearly time to do windows again another of my pet hates.

Anne we got two last divisions last week on Lotto it paid enough to do this week again. one day I will crack the big win, then I will do some serious shopping.

I am off to bed now ,still following Evelyn's thread ,her mother is very hard to find ,I really don't think that is her correct name..she does not appear to have been born anywhere I have searched.

Night Night everyone ....Boys are quiet aren't they.

Cynthia - sound a lot healthier than doughnuts

We had lots of fun here in the office with guessing baby names - the one with Meadowsweet already has three little girls - Bluebell - Daisy & Buttercup. Not sure how they will feel when they are older - at the moment they are all under 6 - so its all a big adventure.

Can you imagine them when they are older - wonder if any will want to change their names.

I have to admit I love the name Tabitha but don't know if i want to do a permanent change - quite happy to have a psuedo for now.

Anyone else fancy a name change?

I have just received a lovely message from Evelyn - things are a bit of a struggle for her at the moment - i sent her some more Virtual hugs & good wishes.

Take care all <3 <3

Cynthia Report 24 Aug 2011 13:20

What lovely news Susan.....I can well understand you being very excited. There are such beautiful baby clothes around these days but they can be quite pricey.

Do you remember 'proper' prams as I call them. You know, the Silver Cross carriage type. They may have been big and a bit cumbersome but, they were so comfy for the babes and you could rock them beautifully. Actually, I saw one the other day but it looked quite modern......wonder if they are bringing them back???

What an assortment of names Anne! Meadowsweet? Reminded me of the actress Honeysuckle Weekes. Do parents ever think about the child coping with some of these names when they are older???

Mind you, when you look at some of the names on census returns you wonder what those parents were thinking too!

I've been buying Victoria plums this week.....I think they are the best plums of all. At our last house we had a Victoria plum tree so I was in my element. Yummmmmmmy.

Hoping all is well with our missing friends....I think Sylvia is back this week. Not sure about Frank. Love to all. Cx

Morning all 4:45 on a very dark - but humid morning on the South coast - it was a dullish day yesterday but warm & then damp

Doing early shifts again for a couple of days

Congratulations Sue - when is the new baby due? its so exciting planning for a new baby - are they going to find out boy/girl on the scan?

We seem to be in a glut of expectant mums here - i think we have had 15 babies in the last 2 months & we have at least 8 more on the way. Funnliy enough mostly boys. Lots of different names - we have had a Noah - Charlie x 2 - Jack - Samuel - Oscar - Ashton - Harry x 2 - Chase - Florence - Honey - Stella - Meadowsweet - Phoebe Skye

All sorts of names floating around for the new ones. A couple of the mums from this time last year are due back soon - but don't know where they will go as they want to do part time - but our area is all full time.

Cynthia - hope the doughnuts haven't added too many pounds - its years since i went to an ag show. I did love the ones in Texas & Oklahoma when i lived over there - they always seemed very exciting - loads of cowboys around & the odd few native Americans - happy days.

Well back down to earth & the reality of life at the moment.

Its a lotto rollover tonight - so keeping my fingers crossed for a nice big win - just enough to give us a bit of a nest egg & I don't have to do OT to live & keep a roof over our heads. It would be nice to have the extra cash to have a holiday instead of it all going on the bills.

Hugs & waves to all the missing ones ((((((~~~~~~~~~~)))))) <3 <3 <3

Take care all - have fun ;-) <3 ;-) <3

Glad you had a good time Sue. Hope you feel better for it. Mind you, it is difficult to sleep if it's hot...I think I prefer a cold night because at least you can snuggle down.

Anne....don't tell me you are going to have a bit of a rest....??? About time too......take it easy when the opportunities arise. You deserve it.

Have been really busy today and am tired now. Went to the local Agricultrual show with my daughter and granddaughter. It was very busy but we watching the cattle being paraded and the shire horses etc.

I ate far too many doughnuts but don't tell Frank....shhhhhhhh.

Hi Everyone

I am back all in one piece,we had a wonderfull time and it was nice and warm.

I tend to like the bartering in Bali and I did get quite a few good bargains I might add.

Josie we did have the New Zealand snow on the TV in Bali ,I used to love it in the UK when I was a child ,we would play for hours in it even though we were freezing cold.
I really hope you enjoyed it but it was very strange for it to snow after all those years, maybe we are reverting back 50 years ...that is my way of thinking anyway.

We are all into this global warming thing here and it is going to cost us a packet but what is the good if the rest of the world does not follow suit as well, everything is going to go up more with it .....AGAIN !!

Must get off this soapbox now.

Very hot in Bali and I am a little sun burnt,we got home at 5 am in the morning so I have not had a lot of sleep yet but I think it might be an early night for us .
We did not spend as much as I thought we would as going out for dinner every night is quite cheap there so are the Taxi's , you can get a driver to drive you around all day for $20 and he just waits for you while you shop .

I need a bit of time to catch up on the gos so please bare with me and I will read all your post's and get back when I am not so foggy headed but I just wanted to drop in and say hello to you all .

Sylvia I hope you are bearing up OK and everything turns out well for you .

Dorothy it is lovely of you to pop in again please feel free to do so anytime .

I will talk again tomorrow .

So nice to be home ,I missed my computer.

Love to you all.

Well looks like a nice day down south today

I am in on OT all day today - hope it stays peaceful - too much work to do on my own duty for this as well - but the dosh comes in very handy

No S**W down south - wonder if Josie is S****d in in NZ

Our office looks like its been in a storm - we had a hotel visit yesterday discussing autumn promotions - they brought loads of leaves & wellie boots. they left the leaves behind - poor cleaners are having a hard time clearing up after them - I think its bad when the suppliers don't do it themselves. Good job they wern't doing X**S promotions as we would have had a blizzard in the office & fake S**W as well.

Well off to get started on some work aaaaaaagh another four letter word.

Trying hard with Evelyn's thread - if anyone has any ideas....please join in. The more the merrier. All we need is one little break!

Am still waiting for the gas man to come and fix my cooker. I have managed to use my oven by placing a short garden cane on the ignition switch and wedging it against the washing machine opposite.

Sometimes I amaze myself.......... :-D

Haircut day tomorrow so I should be quite lightheaded afterwards.

Here I am back in the office at 5:45 am

Bon Voyage Sylvia - have a good time up in the cabin - I love reading your other thread.

Nice to see you pop in again Dorothy

Cynthia - Evelyn's thread is looking really good - it took ages to read & catch up yesterday - you seem to be going at great guns - shame nothing can be sorted out.

Josie - great to see you on the movie thread

Josie - don't tell Cynthia - I love the show when it starts & love walking around in the snow flakes & the blizzards we have had for the last couple of years. Its the 2 or 3 days after when it all freezes thats when i hate it -

Its so quiet when its snowed & looks lovely all white & sparkly it was fun. My street looked like wonderland all crisp & white - occasional cat paw prints - but the hedges were all sparkly in the moonlight & street lights.

When I was in the Middle East & Jeruslaem had snow - the first time in 40 years. Everyone kept telling us how lucky we were & i have pictures of the Dome of the Rock all snow covered. It was fun watching the camels trying to walk on this strange stuff & skidding about on the ice poor things.

The kibbutz I stayed on had never had snow - it was very high in the Judean hills - hell to get up the slopes in the evening. It was built into a hillside the 3 lower ground floors - looked out across the valley. My room was on the 3rd floor - however after the snow storm - it looked like I was on the first floor. You couldn't see out of the windows on the 3 lower floors & at the back the ground & first floors were missing .

It was very strange - i have some fantastic photos of the events - when we were in Haifa there was a tropical storm & the poor palm trees were being blown right down nearly on the ground. Then you have the snow photos - then we went on to the Dead Sea where it was so hot & we were on the beach.

Not that you can see it in the photos but we went on to Jericho & had an earthquake - tried to take some photos of the stones rolling down the hillside & cracks in the dry ground. It was certainly a journey to remember.

I would so love to go back one day - i enjoy the Middle East & the people

I loved every moment - we were a strange bunch of people - a few friend but mostly single people - 7 of us formed a little group & stayed together through the time we were there - it was nice because it was just the right size to fill one of their taxi's - so travel was always quite cheap.

Well will place that memory back in its little box & get on with the day ahead

Better get on with some work now I am here

Will pop back again later to see what has been going on during the morning - oops nearly forgot - won't pop back in lunch time as we have a team lunch today as one of our new ones is off to get married on Friday.

So I will pop in again on Wednesday at some point. Working early on Thursday morning. then we have our trip to Canterbury on Saturday & sunday i am in here again - i start at 5am on Sunday till Midday.

Monday I am in London for most of the day visiting a couple of restaurants - Marcus waring at the Berkeley (been there before - really lovely - afternoon tea is amazing) he makes little cakes in the shape of Jimmy choo shoes & fashion handbags - really unusual.

Then we are going to Gilbert Scotts the new restaurant by the eurostar - that will be unusal as they have a strange menu - not sure how much of it I will actually eat. I wish it was the Spice market - but beggers can't be choosers can they.

Take care all :-D ;-) <3 :-) :-P <3
