Susan Report 3 Aug 2011 09:34

Hi Everyone

Well I seem to be having a really bad time of it lately.

I woke up yesterday morning with terrible pains in the top half of my back and it radiated through to my chest .
Dr is three doors away so I got in to see him straight away ,already on antibiotics and I had a chest x ray this morning.

Dr thinks with this cold I have had for about three weeks has either given me a touch of pneumonia or I have pleurisy.
Only the results of my chest x rays will tell me ...I must admit though I already feel a bit better today,antibiotics must be already doing there thing.

Anne I talk to myself all the time I don;t let it worry me I am mad anyway.

Reece I loose interest in my tree from time to time ...with more records coming on all the time I get back to my brick walls to check if anything has come out about them and sometimes there is ....more so with Ancestry.

Cynthia what a lovely thing to happen to you ...I love babies and can't wait to be a Great Grandmother.

Weather here is still terrible but I won't complain because we need the rain so badly to see us through next Summer.
Doing a Curry tonight that should warm us up.

Love to everyone .

Hi all

what a lovely experience C!

Reece ............ I think we all lose interest in our trees. That's one reason why I help others so much! I hope your family enjoy their holdiays

It seems strange that summer is almost over! Schools etc go back here no later than the first Tuesday in September .......... the first Monday is Labour Day, and that is traditionally the end of "summer". Some schools in certain areas even go back in mid-August!

I was only saying to OH this morning that I still think in terms of the "school" year ........... September is the beginning of the "new year" as far as I am concerned!

Take care everyone

Anne ..... Like C, I find I get sensible replies (or replies that I want) when I tlak to myself :-D

Anne, I talk to myself a lot! Well, at least I get a sensible conversation
:-D

Sorry you lost your internet connection Sue......we had a power cut last week and I felt as though my arm had been cut off......lol

Hasn't it been stuffy today Reece? So humid. We had a sharp shower for about 10 mins and that was it. It cleared the air a little bit but has gone warm again.

As for losing interest in your tree, I think that happens to us all now and again. We get to the stage where we can't find anything else to add so we leave it and then, suddenly, we have a bright idea and off we go again. I have just been adding some photos to my tree which has been quite interesting.

Had an exciting event on my shift at the hospital today.......a baby was born in a consulting room because the mum couldn't make it to the delivery suite in time!!

The birth took place in the eye care centre and all the staff were rushing around looking for pillowcases etc.etc. It was a little boy and I saw him and his mum and dad about 15 minutes after he was born.

It was a lovely start to the day I must admit.

Love to all. Cx

Hello Anne,

Yes, I'm here - just waiting for a friend to bring her grand daughter's wedding photos to show me!

Please don't start talking to yourself! I try to resist the temptation! My keyboard is talking to itself and adding lots of letters that I haven't typed (I'm sure)and leaving out others that I have.

Did you ever find your Bourn(e) relative or was she really a Brown(e). My Jones family are elusive still but I have a Will of grandfather's which adds a bit more to the puzzle but also sets up even more!

It is so hot - I would like to go into the garden but feel cooler (!) indoors with the fan on.

I'll bet Robert is cool up there in his shell and Frank cannot be enjoying the climate in Scotland. Even though Susan is enjoying that rain it sounds a bit wild to me, Susan - any hail?

Love and best wishes to Evelyn and Ron - thinking of you.

Good to hear from Josie, Sylvia, Cynthia and hoping all is going well.

Family have gone off to the south of France to visit relatives and then to Italy for a camping holiday. I won't see them until September now.

I'm losing enthusiasm for doing my family history - is it the weather?

Sue lovely to have you back again

Lovely day here

Busy yesterday did all my washing & spent most of the morning watching horrid black clouds hover over it - then after lunch - clear blue sky & sunshine - got the washing dry anyway & finished off the ironing at 6 am this morning.

I have to admit I don't like these late mornings feels like the day is halfway through

Well off to have a rummage through the boards & threads

Take care all :-D <3 <3

Hi Everyone

My Internet came back this morning and it is perfect I don't know what went wrong .
I am putting it down to the the storms we are having at the moment .

We have had so much rain ,very good news really but it does put things like the Internet at risk.

The bottom of Western Australia has just got High definition TV and we had 17 new channels come on ,this is so good as we only had 4 until Friday.
I can now get Coronation St ,I started watching it when I went back to the UK for my Aunts Funeral in January.

Sylvia , Happy to hear your friend is on the mend ,she sounds like a very lucky lady but Chemo will be no fun for her .
I hope your biopsy goes well for you.

Evelyn a very happy belated birthday to you and best wishes to your OH ,I hope he is doing OK.

Josie good luck on the job front ,I too like decorating cakes .
I did my kids Birthday cakes every year,My second sister and I did them together ,I think we surprised ourselves with how good we did do.

Glad my Internet is back as I felt lost without it and I was the one that said I would never have a computer as I did not understand how they worked.

Silly me .

Going to get dinner on ,still have to read a few more posts to catch up .

Nice to see you all again .

Sylvia - hope it all turns out well - at least you had a lovely time at the conference & with the family.

Reece - i do have one day off if I can - if we could win the lotto I would be a lot happier. Trouble is no OT this week so will have to try for extra next week to make up for it.

Frank i agree with you - no idea who the bloke is but how nice they married in Scotland.

Susan hope the Internet is back now at least your noisy neighbours have gone & you have Bali to look forward to.

Robert lovely to have you back with us

Cynthia hope you had a fun time at the garden centre

Well off to do some work on the family tree

Take care all :-) <3 ;-)

Hi all

Evelyn .... belated birthday wishes. Love to you both xxx

We got back on Wednesday. Then spent the day with himself unpacking the cases, and doing the washing! My back was very painful ........... I'd managed without too much trouble for most of the trip, but there was some quite dreadful rocking on the train on Tuesday which I think was the final straw. Plus the fact that I could't do one of my exercises, which was actually one of the most important ones (or so the physio told me on Thursday!).

We had a wonderful time

One week with J, M and MJ. MJ has really grown, is on the verge of walking and has 2 or 3 words. He takes his time to accept people ..... although I did get a smile on our first morning. It was another 3 days before he would sit on my knee! However, we went back to the house on the Thursday evening before leaving on the train, having been away since the Sunday (so, 4 days) .......... J stopped at the day care to pick up M ................. and he broke into a broad smile when he saw us in the car!

5 days at the conference, which turned out to be much more interesting that I had feared. Several of our good friends from across the country were there, so it was great to meet up with them.

There was one rather worrying time .................... one of our friends, a woman of around 50, was "not right", and got worse as the week progressed. She was hesitant, then gradually became more and more disoriented .............. by Wednesday, about 6 of us were very worried about her. She is in the middle of moving to a new job hundreds of miles away from where she currently lives, so we thought fatigue, dehydration, even medication not working properly.

Anyway, she eventually got home on Thursday, but slept in all day on Friday ............. her husband took her to emergency on Friday evening. Within an hour she had been transferred to a larger hospital in a nearby town. She was operated on on Sunday morning ......... the cause of the problem was a large tumour on the left side of her brain. The operation went well, but she is still in Intensive Care, and we are waiting anxiously to hear how she will be.

It seems that we in Halifax were the first to see any symptoms although the surgeons think the tumour had been growing for quite some time. So the whole episode from showing symptoms to operation was 7 days!

Her husband thinks chemo and radiation will be in the cards ...... as well as rehabilitation etc.

Then we had the 6 days on the train ................ it was much busier than when we do it in the winter, but, as usual, we found a congenial group of people, and spent most of our time in one of the dome cars talking and laughing!

I have been to physio on Thursday, and he tried to work out the kinks in my back.

Friday was the biopsy day. I had to lie on my side pinned into a mammogram machine. They had to find the site (or sites) of the calcifications, then get a sort of tiny knife in there through a tiny incision, and take very thin slices. They took about 5, then went away and examined them under ultra high power magnification. Luckily, everyhting went fast, and was only pinned there for about 30 minutes.

I am now bruised and sore!

I have already made an appointment with my Family Doctor for August 10, and hopefully, the results and specialist's recommendation(s) will be there by then.

Although the radiologist did say that she might be recommending that another biopsy be done by a surgeon ................ just to make absolutely certain that whatever is there is benign.

One very interesting thing ....... we met up with our old friends from university days while we were in Halifax .

They were in Christchurch when the NZ earthquake hit last September.

They were staying in a small hotel in the cente of Christchurch, which was next door to a tall hotel (the Grand Chancellor) that started to collapse, but ended up leaning on the smaller building beside it.

Their belongings, including passports and money, are still in that room as no-one is allowed in until the Grand Chancellor is stabilised.

They decided to continue with their holiday to Australia and New Caledomia .............. even though they only had the clothes they stood up in, his wallet, and a small amount of money that she had taken with her (she'd left most of it in the hotel room).

He didn't buy himself any more clothes ........ he said he had a shirt that dried in an hour, he could wash out his underwear, and he washed his socks then attached them to the end of a hairdryer, turned it on and so dried them quickly!

Belated Birthday Greetings Evelyn, so sorry your day was so dreadful.

I notice you complaining about your summer weather Frank !!
I would rather have your 18c and rain than the 6c and sleet with a wind chill factor of-3c that we endured last Monday Today the sun is shinning but the temp is only 10c.

Mind you it is the middle of winter here.

So glad to be in our new house as it is insulated and with a lovely Log Fire the House stays very warm.

The House was sited to take the advantage of the sun and the area we are living in is much closer to sea level so is 2 to 3 degrees warmer
and we are not constantly buried in the Mist like we were in our old house.

Was able to get 7 weeks work in a Cafe in the Shopping Mall 20mins walk from our place,
To morrow I have a job interview for a local Supermarket working in their Bakery section icing and decorating the cakes and slices.

Cake decorating is a hobby of mine and finnaly I have the opportunity to do something, I enjoy as a job, if I get the Job. The only thing is I will have to start very early horrors!!!!
even after years of having to get up at 6am to get my OH off to work I do not like getting up early .

But I suppose one can't have their cake and eat it to. ha ha ha :-D

Cynthia I hope you do not have to wait too long for the Biopsy results and that the news back will be good.

~~~~~~~~~~to all of you.
Take care catch you all later, Josie :-)
Sport? Fed up with sport. Too too too much of it on tv :-(
Reece? It's a good job some of us are on the ball isn't it? ;-)
Have you noticed how Frank's concentration goes sometimes????
It's good that you and your friends were able to be there for your mutual friends funeral. It would have been appreciated by the family I'm sure.
Re your family history query.....I suppose it is possible that someone has found the info via Google. Apparently that is always happening.
Oh Evelyn, belated good wishes for yesterday even though it was rather horrid for you.
Well off again.......Love to all. Cx.
Hello Everyone,
Just popped in to say I had my birthday yesterday ( 79 ) worst birthday ever. Ron has had a few bad days but he is brighter today, hope he will be well enough to have more Chemo on Thursday.
Ron,s brother has been in today to mow the lawns for me, we have rather a big garden far too much for me to manage but at the moment that is the least of my worries.
The weather here is wonderful , see its not all doom and gloom.
Much love to you all my friends, I often think of you all
DOOOOHHH........ cricket.............RUGBY...........cricket..............RUGBY........ :-S :-S :-S
Sorry Reece,
When I hear English, I just get this picture in my head of 1966 and cricket players being knighted for winning a game and yes, I do tend to get my odd shaped balls mixed up......... :-S :-S ;-) :-D
TV licence holders are probably fed up hearing the BBC's excuses for their innability to purchase the broadcasting rights for sports events but you may be sure they will be out with the begging bowl soon for an increase in the amount we pay.
At this very moment, they are most likely sending their best people off to the far corners of the globe to give us full details of the tiny, poor little villages that supply the competitors for the Olympic Games in order that we understand the tremendous efforts made to qualify for these events.
The reporters along with their entourage will of course enjoy top class travel and entertainment all at the fee payers expense before advising the government that more money is required for similar broadcasting events in the future. :-S :-S :-S
Beautiful day up here with a temprature of 63f already and it's only 11.00am.
Off to watch the cricket, zzzzzzzzzz :-D :-D
Reece Report 30 Jul 2011 10:26
Hello everyone,
Firstly, thank you all for waves and good wishes.
Anne, I am wondering how long you can keep up this punishing routine - time for a break gal, time for a "catch my breath" moment or two. I had one this morning, enjoyed watching a blackcap (bird!) eating our ripe greengages high up at the top of the tree! He sat on the nearby branch for about 10 minutes - I think he felt a bit
tipsy! I'm waiting for the ringneck parakeets - I hear them and see hem flying over but they haven't arrived in my garden as yet.
Sylvia - sending all good wishes for your results - it is a worrying time for you.
As Cynthia will know I am sure - Frank - the groom today is a Rugby player and a Yorkshireman! (Not a cricketer!) He apparently will play in NZ in the Rugby World Cup - I got this from my serious newspaper this morning! I think it is the first morning I've read the second page of the paper this week. Why Edinburgh - why Holyrood House? Her Majesty, the Queen holidays in Scotland - seems to be the connection.
We said "goodbye" to our dear old friend on Thursday - so many memories recalled, old faces sadly grown all too old, happy pictures of our children playing together as toddlers - (they are now middle-aged citizens!)and the walls of her house covered in her prolific output of paintings of all kinds, including one exhibited in the Summer Exhibition many years ago. We were all missing, so much, our wonderful, kind, feisty, clever and loving friend.
Now, I've made myself very sad all over again.
A question: My brother-in-law has found some of my family research work from GR and a Welsh family history society on ancestry.com - how did it get there? I am not pleased!
Love to you all.
Well here I am again 5:45 on a saturday morning
No early morning OT next week - will miss the cash - but get a lie in for a change - will probably still be awake.
Frank - sorry i can't fit in the baggage - perhaps next year. Can granny go in a golf bag?
Well peaceful at the moment -
OH very angry about the F1 moving to sky sports - I think the BBC should abolish the licence fee now as they are making us pay & then we get charged by SKY for watching the sports we want to see. Diabolical.
I think this should be raised in paliament - first they take away the Cricket & then its F1.
If it was the Olympics or Wimbledon i wouldn't worry they can have them - but No BBC need them apparently ****** the F1 loyal fans. I for onw will be sending a very strong letter. Bernie Ecclestone shpuld be fired - preferably from a cannon over a very long distance.
End of soap box - back to work & bang a few things awound on my desk.
Will try calm down & pop in again on sunday if i can.
Waves & hugs to all the absent friends ((((~~~~~~~~))))
Take care all <3 <3 <3
