Hi Everyone

The OH had the day off today so we went out to the forest for wood again just to keep the stocks up before it rains so much we can't go out there.

We did get a very good load again,a bit of rain but not to much.

Sylvia what a lot of rats steeling all your belongings,I would be furious but I guess if it is in the bush it would be very tempting to break into ,do the mounties keep a look out at all or is your cabin just there on it's own.
It really does spoil your holiday when people do these sort of things.

In Busselton there are some holiday homes that get broken into when there owners are back in Perth.

Evelyn we are all here for you when you are ready to check back in,are thoughts and prayers are with you both.

I am off for a nice bath for my sore bones.

Love to everyone

Welcome back Robert,I don't mind a good malt Whiskey but I don't know about the Haggis....but I have never tried it !!!..one day perhaps.

Hi all

we came back a day early ... Monday instead of Tuesday. The weather was pretty bad, and it was chilly. We had the wood stove lit for a lot of the time!

OH picked up the computer from the computer hospital yesterday morning. They found a few nasties on it, cleaned them out, cleaned out some programmes that were no longer needed, installed a dvd player and burner .. and it seems to be working faster! Thye also installed a couple fo new things, and changed some things .... it's taking me some time to learn the new things!

Weather here is beautiful ............. sunny and hot!

Re the weekend, and the cabin

no invasions from pack rats .......................

............ no attempts by bears to get in the cabin, or to play football with the water collector

BUT

some 2-legged animals did get in

They left all doors wide open ........ it must have been quite recently as there were no sign of any animals having got in (ie, droppings or "nesting"), and no soaking from rain.

They left all the cupboard doors wide open, but didn't do any damage, or leave much of a mess around

And they chained up the farm gate after leaving

Very strange, and weird!

They stole, among other things:-

one Camp Lantern (Coleman white gas kind)
one 15 m extension cord
3 tarpaulins
6 floor runners (very cheap and on their last legs)
1 large plastic box containing among other things ............ 6 battery operated closet lights, 3 battery operated mosquito swatters, suede leather fire gauntlets (for loading wood into the wood stove) and 3 sun hats and 1 ball cap about to be thrown out.

We don't leave much of any value up there over winter!

We had to go to bed early on Friday night 'cos we had no lights

We then had to go back into town on Saturday (60 km each way), to report the break-in to the RCMP (ie, Mounties) ......... he had the same idea as me .................. it looked like someone trying to set up his own cabin or for camping

................ and we also had to buy replacement lantern, lights, tarp, mosquito swatters, etc

Not covered by insurance of course as the cabin is so remote that the cost is prohibitive

We had picked up our brand new generator in the town on the way out to the cabin, and had the trailer filled with boxes containing mattresses, sleeping bags, etc etc ........... and would normally leave those up for the summer

............ but they all came back home with us!!

OH was not too happy ........ he'd planned on also leaving the trailer up there, and on having some space in the basement here to sort out other stuff!

Ah well, it's the first major break-in since we bought the place in 1997.

Reece .... I hope you have recovered from the shock of the break-in at your neighbours.

Looks like I am going to have to talk to myself again..... (sad face).

Have been quite busy but coping if you know what I mean. Nothing exciting, just trundling around Tesco's, cleaning bathroom and bedrooms and picking up grandchildren.

It's quite funny now that they are growing up. They sit in the car with their i-pod thingies singing away tunelessly to whatever it is they are listening to. Sometimes I manage a conversation with them but they seem quite happy bopping away in their seats :-D

We were told it was going to rain but I've managed to get loads of washing done (happy face).

Love to all. Cx.

Not too sure about your menu Robert, but it's good to know that you seem to have had a good time.

Stornoway! That's where we have been searching for Evelyn's mother! You didn't get a sighting of any records of her did you??

Good to have you back.

The Old Man waves to all and is pleased to see that you are behaving.

Just got back from my cave in the Cairngorms where I was well fed on black pudding (from Stornoway), fruit pudding and haggis all washed down with a local single malt whisky.

Happy days!!

Cynthia Report 21 Jun 2011 14:05

Golly! A whole day has gone by with no visits from friends.....:(

Glad you are feeling better Sue - I keep forgetting that it is your wintertime!
Wrap up cosy and keep nice and warm.

Anne, you must have had very long hair to have had so much cut off! Have to admit I find short hair much easier to cope with and I suit it more too.

Haven't heard from Ven Robert for ages.........hope he's okay. Maybe he could give a little wave now and then so that we know he is keeping his eye on us :-D

I think Sylvia is back sometime this week after her short break. Wonder if she encountered any more wild life?

Hope Reece has recovered from that horrible shock last week. It would shake anyone up. Do let us know if you're okay Reece.

Nothing to report in my neck of the woods at the moment but saw two beautiful baby boy twins this morning. So tiny, as they had been born prematurely. Got all broody!

Well we seem to be up and running - lovely blue sky here today - sitting looking out over the Thames Estuary - waiting for lunch.

Al working well with the internet (at the moment) OH will be putting the 3rd coat of stain varnish on the patio door this afternoon as its lovely drying weather.

Just got back from the hairdressers - had over 6 inches taken off my hair at the back and graduated round to the front where 9 inches came off and she has straightened it (which I don't like & OH doesn't either) I have it now curling around just under my chin at the front.

When it gets washed it will go culier again & I will be happier.

Reece what a terrible thing to happen - do you have a neighbourhood watch? Please take care - don't let anyone in unless you know who they are.

Years ago we all use to leave our doors unlocked and people popped in & out - you can't these days - you never know who is lurking about.

Well we had a very eventful trip up here as there was a crash at Dartford Tunnel & it took us over an hour to drive a couple of miles - good view from the top of the flyover though - horrid weather - it threw it down.

Well will pop off for now as lunch is nearly ready.

Take care all <3

Hi Everyone

The OH and myself have had a bit of a cold of late but starting to feel as bit better today ..it is cold and wet and has been for the whole of the weekend so a bit miserable really.

Reece how terrible for you to have that happen next door to you,I would have been terrified especially if I was on my own,I do hope you keep all your doors locked.

There are so many undesirables around these days ,no different in OZ we have all the same happening .
People being robed for drug money makes me worry for my Grt Grandchildren when they come along.

I worry now when my Grandsons go out with there mates ...so many fights ,you don't need to be doing anything wrong to be set upon it is done for kicks these days.

We just stay in now don't go out much these days especially at night.

Anne have a nice visit with your inlaws.

Bettre get the dinner dishes done.

Love to all

Reece, what a dreadful thing to happen and what a horrible shock for everyone concerned, it will leave you all unsettled for ages I bet. I hope your neighbours get some support in coming to terms with the burglary and the loss of their belongings.

Oh and by the way, you made perfect sense and weren't at all incoherent :)

Hi Evelyn, and glad to know that you think Ron is improving. Moving about would greatly improve his circulation and I hope he understands that. I have to come down heavy handed with my OH sometimes just to make sure he doesn't sit for too long. With Parkinson's, it's pretty essential to keep moving.

Anne.....have a lovely time...... :-D

Getting late now so had better disappear. Love to all Cx

Evelyn & Cynthia - now I am sure that I have!!

Reece

Reece Report 18 Jun 2011 22:18

Hello everyone,

Not sure if I shall sound coherent - neighbours were burgled this afternoon about 4.30 -5.00 o'clock. I heard banging and something heavy being dragged at the front of the house, looked out of the window to see a strange van parked in their driveway and by the time I got downstairs to the front door they had gone! Another neighbour saw them drive off and phoned for the police, who came promptly and took it from there. The house was ransacked and they dragged off a heavy safe containing many valuables. Family are in shock, I know how they feel although it is over thirty years since we were burgled.

They may well have tried here yesterday as a strange man rang my bell with an odd request and saying that he would be coming to work at their house today. I went in and told them what had happened but they said they had only put in a request for an estimate and were not expecting anyone to come today.

To say that I am feeling nervous is putting it mildly! All the while I was struggling to master my new printer, too and thinking that the children were having a great game next door! It was pouring with rain as well.

Evelyn, sending all good wishes for Ron for a return to better health soon.

Cynthia - think I've also joined 'confused.com'!

Best wishes to you all -and take care.

Love
Reece

Hello Everyone,
Nurse is still calling daily to change Rons dressings, he seems to me to be recovering well but according to him he is not at all well, I think he should get out of his chair more often and nurse agrees, she told him if he doesnt use them more often he could use the use of his legs, maybe that will shock him into some action.
The weather here is very mixed poured with rain this morning but the sun is shining now.
Going to do some shopping and call at the bank now ,so excited, hmm.

Hi Everyone

Anne I used to let my Mother in Law do that to me too but I am older a wiser now she has mellowed a bit too and goes along with what I want.

It is difficult is'nt it because you don't want to make a fuss...you could choke them at times .

The move went well we got home at 8 PM last night but she is all set up ...her mother and I even made there bed up for them .

Its a bit quiet on here at the moment ,we do all get busy at times .

It appears Genes have sorted some of the glitches out of the system but I still have to sign it every now and then.never used to have to do that so often as I do now .
My computer is running fine on all my other sites but Genes has been bad lately.

Oh had lasagna last night sorry to say it was a bought one he said it was nice so he did not have to suffer to much with the moving thingy.

Cooking a roast tonight .........feel a bit guilty.

Check in later.

Happy holidays Sylvia - hope the cabin is as you left it

Hope the computer gets better soon

Enjoy the moving experience Sue - have to admit we did it that way too - Set wedding date - find a place move in after wedding etc -

Tomorrow the 17th would have been my 33rd wedding anniversary if we had still been together (highly doubtful) With this one - It would have happened - Next week on the 24th is our 13th Wedding anniversary.

I have to admit that due to circumstances we did get together and move in & then get married when we could - it felt like we had been married anyway - i think its because we were both older and happier.

Next year we will have been together 20 years - it only seems like yesterday - where have all the years gone & what have we to show for it. We should be on the edge of retirement - whereas we are on the verge of working into our retirement years to clear the mortgage.

I really do need to win the lotto.

One more day in the office and off for a whole week - my Mother-in-law and sister-in-law are trying to organise our week off for us.

Typical conversation on the phone a couple of nights ago " now then dear i think if we go to Dover on Tuesday we can do the Graves visit on Thursday and we can do another visit on Sunday - now I think you should book your appointment for Friday morning and then we can go out for our meal afterwards"
Well we were thinking along the same lines - very dependant on the weather - - except the appointment I want it on Monday at 9am pref then I have the rest of the week for them to do what they want..

My answer "Well Friday would be a bit late and i would rather go on Monday - No dear you don't want to go Monday - Friday is better - no Friday would be a rush as I may be late for lunch and we need to get going straight after lunch - No you really don't want to go on Monday - 10 mins later - well i will leave it to you to book it but I still think Friday would be better"

Aaaaaaaaaagh I have now booked it myself for Monday at 9am - then it doesn't matter how long I am

Well after all that waffle - i need to finish lunch & get back to work

Take care all <3 <3 ;-)

Hi Everyone

We are flat out at the moment ,the Grand Daughter and the boyfriend are moving in together today so we are loading and unloading furnisher .

They have done pretty well but in my day we got married first before we moved in together.

I am off will another load so will get back on tonight.
Fingers crossed the rain stays away.

Hi all

a lovely sunny day, and quite warm ...... after several very cool ones!

Off tomorrow to the cabin ..... hoping that we haven't had visitors over the winter!

My computer is going into GoGo Geek hospital in a couple of hours, for them to give it the annual check-up while we are away. I'm not sure whether we will be back early enough on Tuesday for us to pick it up, so it might be Wednesday before I get back on line.

take care everyone
