Aaaaaaaaaaaaaah lovely doggies

Evelyn listen to Frank

Frank thanks for the info - appreciate it - is it worth it to change it ? will give then a call tonight - Does your Belkin plugin work with the BT Hub? If so all our problems will be solved as we have a newish Belkin plugin already. Stupidly i thought Belkin would only work with a Belkin wireless hub (even though i was using on Virgin Broadband dooooooooooooo)

I think i am having a mental breakdown somewhere.

Just been to one of our events - I was given a small box of luxury chocolates, managed to get another USB memory stick as well as a neck pillow (always useful) - a virgin Mug with a spoon in the handle , a little vigin plane which flashes its lights & makes wiring take off noises when you press its button, a virgin A5 notepad (I can use for all my family history data) - some jelly beans. I could have had loads of pens and chocolate and cookies and cakes. Did i tell you we were given a 2 inch thick slab of chocolate - took ages to get through as it was 7inches by 5 inches like a photo.

I could go on and on but won't. I did nibble a few of the luxury chocolates they had while i was there - probably about £5 worth in money - only 3 in reality.

Well better go back to work

take care all

Good heaven's.....it sounds like you've all run amok!

Poor Frank must be run off his feet with all these probs. Mind you, the exercise will do him good.

Evelyn, I've sent you a pm.

I'm getting used to altering my pics but it usually takes a couple of tries before I get it right.

Not a lot happening here but thought I would pop in and say hello to everyone.

"Update Profile"

Don't panic girls................. and I use the word loosely although I wouldn't suggest that you are loose women.

This is simply an invitation for you to update your profile if you wish and to put your mind at rest, mine says exactly the same and yours says send message.

In the same vein "Send Message" is an invitation to.................. send a message. :P

I have moved from Virgin Broadband which did not have wireless to BT Wireless Broadband on my desktop.
The BT hub is simple to set up but I have a desktop which meant that although I got wired broadband, I could not get wireless as you need either an adapter, a wireless card to "broadcast" the signal as far as I can see.
Also had trouble loading the BT software as the Virgin stuff seemed to get in the way and block it.
Got an adapter (plugin Belkin thingy) and installed it but hadn't actually plugged it into the USB when my daughter arrived from USA and she connected wirelessly with her laptop to the neighbour's wireless !!! and also to BT Fon which is a sort of wi-fi share from BT broadband.

I'm afraid I did not have time to check it out while they were over here as we don't have a wireless laptop but I did notice a lot more settings had appeared after installing the adapter.

Check out this website about the BT Hub........

http://www.productsandservices.bt.com/consumerProducts/displayTopic.do?topicId=25746

I am going offline as I'm going to rub out everything and start again with my computer as that may solve my installation problems.
With a bit of luck............ I'll be back tomorrow. :S

Evelyn,

If you are on Internet Explorer then top right on the internet page, you should find "TOOLS".
Click on tools and make sure that from th drop down menu, you have FAVORITES ticked.

Bye all, see you sometime........... :O

Hi

Sue ................ you can only see Update Profile on your own posts, everyone else sees Send Message

Update Profile is there as a shortcut in case you want to make any changes ........ like a different photo, or to add Research information

The other way to make a change is to go into My Account

I would suggest that you do nothing re your board name

Reece is so far as I know the only Reece on here, but there are quite a few Susans using only Susan, and several more using Susan+ a qualifier (such as a number or word).

If you tinker with your board name, you will have to change it to Susan + qualifier.

Very heavy rain overnight ........ sounded more like November than May!

Well mine still says "update profile" even though I ahve done several times - i give in

Bit of a grey day here today - feeling down in the dumps - not feeling valued at work etc everyone around me is feeling miserable - think its catching - didn't win the £85 million either

I need something exciting to happen

Will wonder off now as don't want to blacken the mood of the thread.

Take care all

Hi Everyone

Can someone please tell me if my posts says Send massage under it or Update profile .
I am seeing update profile at all times .

If it says Send message then I have done it properly.

Why do they have to change everything all the time ,don't they realise there are a lot of elderly people on here that struggle with these things .

Well I do anyway !!!

Still no rain only a few little showers so far ,the big winter rains are very late.

I had a day of shopping in the big smoke yesterday had a very nice day ,did not spend to much.

Reece we had a dog like yours when I was a child his name was Lassie of course we loved him very much so gentle he even slept with the ginger cat mum had ....could not tell the dog from the cat.

Waiting for criminal minds to start my favorite show.

I have got my spellcheck back don't know where it came from but I am happy about it.

Love to everyone

This is Darcy - faithful friend and companion to us both for 14 years and the last of three rough collies who all enriched our lives.

Anne - I am on BT but have an Apple Mac so don't know if that will make ay difference. I remember BT sent a man to install their system when we started l but I don't know if there was a charge for this or not. You can but ask.

I had a reply from the Support team on GR which said "If you enter your name in the message name box on your My Account page, the system can only tell that the name is already in use. It can' t tell that you're the one using it though!" They sent apologies for any confusion. So I am just going to leave it as it is and not do any more and can only wait and see what happens next..

Evelyn, sorry about you laptop I know how you feel. I sometimes wonder if we really are in charge or do they have a mind of their own? Mine is not happy printing any "t"s and I am wondering is it me or it?

I've just today found another connection to my Tizzzards and always feel so amazed when this happens but terribly pleased, too.

I noticed when looking at the parish records in Dorset that the word "alias" was sometimes used but couldn't work out why. It would be written underneath one of the surnames of a couple. Did it have a different meaning then, do you think?

Went to a concert in another local church on Sunday evening and enjoyed it very much.

Love,
Rx

Lovely photos - love the two little girls aaaaaaah and the doggie

Couldn't put mine on here - would be snivilling too much

Lovely day here today - reqsonably warm too.

Getting use to the new GR - May change my photo but i do like it as it is
Its how i would like to be.

In the process of trying to change my internet provider - don't know what is worse - keeping what i have or trying to change it - getting really fed up now.

Anyone on BT? Frank i have a puzzle for you.

How do i know if my computer has a wifi connection avail - i am so going off the idea of changing suppliers.

BT said they can provide a hub & you plug it in the back of your main computer. I know the laptop has wifi as i can use it with the one I have at the moment. However OH computer in his office has to have a plugin Belkin thingy to be able to share the broadband service.

According to BT he cant use this to access their hub he needs a wireless card. I do not want to have to take the computer to pieces -go to PC world to buy one - go home find we have bought the wrong one - go back to the shop - do it all over again. aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaagh

Any clues Frank

Well better get back to the phones & problems

Take care all.

I'm going for the faithful friend aspect Frank.......this is our first dog. We got him via the dog's home in Oxford where we were living at the time. He died in c1979. Very loyal and faithful.

I think we had 8 over the years and, in the 90's we had 4 at once. I adored all my dogs.

More will be revealed over time!! Cx

I'll make sure they don't get any cushions. ;-)

When are we going to have some more of your delightful pictures, I mean we have Anne all slim and fairy like ...................... :S

Cynthia

Cynthia Report 9 May 2011 20:55

Beautiful little girls Frank. You must be very proud of them. No doubt they will get used to you!

I think my next pics will be of one of the dogs we have owned over the years. We really miss not having any but, circumstances being as they are, it would be really feasible .....sigh.

Reece.....maybe you have a double?? If your name is still not accepted, how about Reece1 or Reece in............wherever? Hope you sort it out soon.

Anne, we watched Vera last night and it's quite good so I won't tell you who did it!!! I think watching a new detective series takes some getting used to though. They each have their own ways. I think Lewis is a worthy successor to Morse.

We had thunder, lightning, hailstones and rain and sun today! All we need is a covering of snow and out weather pattern will be complete.

I heard a lot of sirens this morning but, because we often get them up and down here, I didn't take much notice. When they seemed to stop nearby however, I decided to take a look out of the window. Oh dear me, 2 cars had collided just down the road where there is a bend. I heard that one had overtaken on a corner and crashed into the oncoming car! fortunately I don't think anyone was hurt but the cars were a mess.

Love to all.....Cx

OK Anne,

Here are my two beautiful blue eyed blondes.................

Sophia (14 months) with Nieve (10 months) stealing her pacifier / dummy.

Yes, it was quite hard trying to photograph them together while they were both smiling and not grabbing the camera or slobbering all over it.

As for the Google Images, yes it was rather a shock as the first page was pictures of kilt patterns and one click brought out all the virus / trojan warnings nonsense............. obviously just one little nasty hidden away amongst all the good pictures.
I used to find that kind of stuff when our girls were looking for free music downloads and the nasties would pop up every now and then.

Just be careful and don't panic.

Hello everyone,

Help! I've been told that I cannot use my "user name" as it is already being used. I've explained that that person is me and have sent another message to try to resolve the problem.

Meanwhile enjoying this lovely weather but hoping for some rain soon.

All best wishes,

Reece

Frank - i am in shock

i have never received anything like this using google images - appreciate the warning

I assume its the older of the two little girls in the photo - do you ahve one of both together - or do they not sit still that long.

Robert - eagerly await the photo

Only a quicky today as leaving an hour early - thats what happens when you go away for the night on a saturday - washing builds up - no food in the house etc etc etc

Anyone watched Vera on ITV - thought it was quite good last week - haven't see it last night (will have to wait for OH to be out) he thinks she is nothing like a copper & won't watch it.

Nothing new there then is there - he hates most of the new dramas & some of the old ones.

Take care all - keep safe

Lovely day down south - lots of sunshine - little bit chilly

FRANK06

FRANK06 Report 8 May 2011 20:25

Hmmmm,

That was strange Anne .............. Having just read your post I went into Google Images, searched for Scottish Kilts and clicked on a couple of pictures of Hebridean patterns while taking note of a warning that copyright may be present for these images which is what I was thinking about.

What I did not expect was something that I have seen on less friendly sites, namely a small pop up warning that my computer was at risk from multiple virus and trojan attacks.
Clicking on cancel merely resulted in my screen filling up with the usual rubbish that all these viruses / trojans were threatening my computer and I would have to get help from the site to remove them !!

At the same time, my Norton Security flashed up a note that my system had been subject to an attack but that the intrusion attempt had been blocked.

My computer had then locked up so I switched off at the plug and back on and we are fine but just a warning to anyone searching as I would not have thought of any problems looking for kilt colours.

There you go, just don't panic as these sites are trying to encourage you to pay for help in removing non-existent viruses. :S
