We are a bit thin on the ground on this thread at the moment.

I don't even know what time the Royal Wedding is on - on the TV over here - its being kept remarkably quiet - or i am just in Mushroom mode.

I think I saw an advert for it last night - but I do tend to fast forward them - which is why i haven't see any info.

The TV guide is due on Tuesday so I can see what is on when for the RW - i dare say there will be loads on TV or in the papers the next day.

Isn't she skinny - she was wearing Black the other day & lookd so thin - my friend wants to give her a few good thick stews & dumplings with some suet pudding for afters just to get a bit of meat on her bones. One of our bookies is taking bets on the arrival date of the royal baby & also its name -

Just had a laugh there are even odds of 250 to 1 that Kate will jilt him at the altar. the things people will bet on.

I think it starts on our TV in the early morning - It will be on in the back ground while I do the housework or work on the laptop - I know i am working on the Saturday.

Well enough wittering for now - off to have a nose around the site and see if there is anything new on the chat .

Take care all - come back soon

Lovely day down in the south - hope the birthday party goes well.

Getting off my soapbox too Sue -

I think you & I could have a disagreement over the Diana situation.

I agree Charles is too old to become King - I do think Camilla is the best thing to ever happen to Charles & he should have married her when he had the chance when he was younger.

Do not get me started on the Diana topic - totally out of bounds that topic.

Well on that note & I won't be drawn into it again i am off back to work.

Take care all

I'm looking forward to the royal wedding too. My son is having a party - just an excuse to have friends round I think. We'll stay here and watch it in comfort! Our church is putting on a big 'do' at the cricket/rugby pavilion - big screens, barbeque, face painting etc.etc. should be fun for families but........I prefer the comfort of my own chair with a nice cup of coffee!!

The problem with this month is that the children only seem to be at school for about 8 days because of Easter, bank holidays and the royal wedding.

Hope you find your lost rellies Anne....at least it won't be for lack of trying!

I don't like textspeak either and can take ages texting a message out. I got most of what you said earlier. Have a nice day in the dungeons....lol

Looks a bit grey outside but I had better go and get dressed - got the mob coming for a meal tonight........arrgghhh. Can't believe that my granddaughter becomes a teenager tomorrow......where does time go? Frank and Sylvia - make the most of those gorgeous grandchildren of yours because they grow up so quickly.

Hope you are all well. Lotsa love. Cx

Hi Everyone

Anne I think we are just a bit busy at the moment and there are a few help threads getting around now .

I am wondering if your Emma was born out of England say Scotland /Ireland have you looked into that as I can't find anything on her with that name and date of birth and there should be something in census (silly me no census before 1841 senior moment sorry);

I can't wait for the Wedding I just love them,so grand the Royals do them so well.
I would love to see William jump ahead of Charles as King he is not fits to rule and that Camilla well say no more.
May Diana's memory live on.

! Must get off my saopbox now !

Nice cool day today so I am getting out the ironing board,I have to do it sometime I suppose.

Have a nice day everyone.

Thanks Susan - thats the one I had - - I have also seen the original record & i am sure it was Bourn - but all my paperwork & records are at home.

So totally doing my head in like - as i heard my neighbours 6 year old say to her 8 year old friend over the weekend - actions & all hair flicking all over the place - it looked so funny didn't dare laugh.

Too many hours spent watching Legally Blond etc - give me Scooby doo any day. Like totally awsome.

I think we live in a very different world from the one I grew up in - even my husband uses text speak on occasions - but not when he texts - he has a real go when I send him one with mixed letters & numbers. C U Ltr.

Btw I m abt2 gv a msg 2 U - rbtl its gtng ot of hnd ts txt ttg - ql tgbk sys

I will leave you to work this out - bit of rubbish really - one of the kids tried to give me a lesson - I gave up

Lovely day again down here - bit nippy - Is anyone having a street party for the royal wedding? Our street would not even consider the idea - i don't think anyone cares - there was a big thing on the news last night - is anyone interested.

Several people said it was a good excuse for a day off - several of my team think its a good excuse to earn double time on overtime by working that day. I know I could use the money - but I also want a day off.

I am off work next week as we have our hotel visits - its come round very soon - then its Easter back to work for 3 days & off again.

Wonder who is going to visit the thread over this time - we seem to have lost a lot of people recently.

Well must away - have cruise training this afternoon in the dungeon.

Take care all

Only slowly Anne? I will be going round that bend quicker than you I bet....lol Good luck with all that research.

What a gorgeous weekend but today has been much chillier with some rain. Much as I love all the Dick Francis books, I didn't watch the Grand National 'cos I can't stand to see the horses fall. It just sends shudders down my spine. Well, I suppose that shows I am not spineless though...hahaha

Do hope those lads move out sooner rather than later Sue....life should be much quieter for you then.

Got through a whole load of ironing today.....don't know where it all comes from to be honest. Maybe someone is sneaking in the through the back door and leaving theirs for me to do...:))

Love to all. Cx.

Well started to reply to the above and it all fizzled out - so back to square one and started again.

Thank you all for all your help and ideas - Where on earth did you find the reference to Emma Sophia Brown? This could be the root cause of the problem but on all the other info i have found she is down as Bourn.

She is my biggest brick wall so far. She could have died at the same time as her little girl. However Joseph remarried in 1846 I beleive.

I found the new marriage in Epsom - and he was down as a Batchelor naughty naughty - even though the pair of them lived in Southwark - they went to Epsom to marry. The children's baptisms are all in Southwark or Bermondsey. There is something very dodgy about the whole thing.

Joseph & Emma with the two children are on the 1841 Census as above, however in 1851 - Richard is staying at his grandparents for Census night - in 1861 Richard is back with his father & his new wife and family. So looks like they all made friends again.

I don't know where else to try - i have been to the actual records office for the area and found the actual PR's just incase there was a problem with the film (there wasn't) Emma Sophia seems to have vanished off the face of the earth.

Looking back at Dr Who, the Christmas special with Kathryn Jenkins in - do you think Emma was spirited away like her, which is why I Can't find her anywhere.

I will have a good search now to see if i can find any Emma Sophia Browns instead.

Beautiful day here again today. Looks like everyone was too busy over the weekend to pop in for a chat.

Are we all far too busy - or - can't find anything useful to say (when has that ever stopped us) - or - given up as fed up - or - found a better way to use our time - or - none of the above - please enter real reason in the box below.

Hello friends,

Having the kitchen ceiling re-painted - had a leak a few months ago and waited for it to be completely dry.

Anne - I had a good look yesterday for your Emma Sophia but the only place could find was in the 1841 census for St Mary Magdalen, Bermondsey, address: Bermondsey Street, Bermondsey, Surrey.

On the same page are: John Bourn, 60, Joseph 25, Mary, 50 and Mary 25 then Joseph Edwards, Emma, Richard and Louisa (5 mths.)

I cannot find her at all after that year. Perhaps her name is recorded as Brown in the following records.

Mine are all Bourne so I don't think any connection. Sorry I can't be more helpful.

Love,

Reecexx

We have had some very welcome rain over this week end and it is still raining today, nice a cool so much so we have got the fire all ready to light.

Our boys next door have been quite good but all is not happy there as one of them had all there belongings left ourside yesterday to the elements from what we could hear he was not payiong his share of the rents so with any luck there are on there out.
We have been told by another neighbour that they are leaving when there lease runs out, can't wait for that.

Off to town today to pay a few bills ,will check in again tonight.

Reece - here is the info I had and added to GR a while ago

I have been searching for years now (Ancestry - FMP - Record Offices) if you have access to any of the other more expensive ones or are good at wills or newspapers - I would appreciate your ideas.

I am looking for a birth/baptism date & parents for: Emma Sophia Bourn

Marriage details (on ancesrty & at Record office) 18 Dec 1836
St George, Southwark, England
to
Joseph Mallows Edwards (all his details found & proved)

1841 Census
St Mary Magdalen, Bermondsey, England
Joseph Edwards 25
Emma Edwards 25? poss 21
Richard Edwards 3
Louisa Edwards 5 months

I have Joseph & Richard on all the other census records & know Joseph married again (record office records etc) in 1846 in Epsom

Have now found out that Louisa died June 1847 possibly at the Poor Law Union in Horsley Down.
(thanks to a very kind GR member who cannot update on this thread)

May have found a death record for Emma Oct-Dec 1847 vol 3 page 218 - but can't afford the cert at this moment in time

If she shows up in any of your records it would be amazing. Can't track her down at all - If we can afford it later in the year we are going to try a trip to the LMA.

Thanks for all the help Reece.

Oh Robert - you must come back to us - we all have set backs at least all yours were at once.

Have to agree with Sylvia on the Sunglasses

Cynthia - what a sad day - at least your friend has been spared a lot of the hearbreak.

Reece lovely to have you back with us - If you think you can shed some light on our brick wall I will add some details for you.

I am sure Diane will turn up somewhere - we had the same sort of situation with my father & he did surface in the end - another man of great mystery.

Such a lovely day - pure blue sky - off to have a meal with some friends tonight - so took the afternoon off.

See Cynthia - I can spend a peaceful afternoon - not rushing around - makes a nice change.

Working tomorrow - then 5 days next week and off till Easter Saturday - we have our hotel visits on the 19th & 20th .

My mums anniversary next week - so feeling a bit down in one way - but excited about out couple of nights away. April is a double edged sword for me.

Well off to get ready for our evening out

Take care all

I now have a vision of Robert in sunglasses and looking rather like The Invisible Man in the old film.......lol Good advice from Sylvia there though. Hope it all works out okay Robert.

I wasn't particularly interested in the Scottish 1911 being released and then, I suddenly realised that I may be able to find OH's grandfather and his family. They were living in Liverpool at that time and should be on the English one but no joy! I am now wondering if they had gone back to Scotland on holiday or whatever, so that is my next mission I think. I was a bit slow on the uptake there......doh

Glorious day so must search out some washing :)

Where's Josie I wonder? Take care all.

Hi all

((((xxx)))) Cyns ... that must have been a hard afternoon for you.

Robert ................. I had cataracts removed from both eyes back in 2001, he did them 6 weeks apart because my eyesight was so poor that he didn't want to leave me with one good eye and one bad one for the usual 6 months ............. so he very sneakily booked the operating room for 2 operations !

What I did not know was that they can put slightly different lens in your eye, so they can change your sight from the very short sight that I had to long sigth.

I went from needing almost "coke bottle" lenses to needing only reading glasses.

But do be warned ........ everything will seem so much brighter afterwards!!

When it comes to having the operation done ....... do please take a pair of sunglasses with you to wear on the way home .......... even if it is raining!

Take care everyone

Hello friends. I didn't realise I havent been on here for a couple of days...losing track of time....must be a sign of old age!

What a lovely surprise to see that Robert, Evelyn and Reece had popped in. Poor Robert........having to 'shell' out all that money.....pardon the pun! Take a little time to recover from the shock and then you will feel strong enough to pop out and see us again.

Your mother is a mystery Evelyn but I wouldn't give up yet. Fans will do her very best and she's good at searching. Here's hoping Diane turns up soon!

The weather here is really springlike and is very heartening after that gloomy winter. It's lovely to see the washing blowing on the line. We have a beautiful clump of yellow and purple primula at the front of the house and they make you smile just looking at them.

Had a sobering day yesterday when I sat with my friend in hospital whilst her husband's funeral was taking place. She now seems to have a form of dementia and, although she know me, she kept saying that it was her father who had died. I read some prayers from the funeral service to her and she was very peaceful and calm which was a blessing. We have been through so much together, but never, ever, did I think that things would turn out this way. Such is life I guess.

Anyway, nearly bedtime so lots of love to you all........ Cx

Hi Everyone

Glad to hear you are finally getting some sunshine in the UK I can contest to it being very cold when I was over in Feb.

We have at last got some rain ...it just poored down last night and it has been raining all day today .
The gardens really needed it ,when it gets so dry we get lots of bushfires and they can be deadley for some of the folks that live in the bush.
Fires can very quickley get out of hand but with this rain that helps.

Nice to hear from you Reece, happy to hear your family had a lovely trip to WA ,I know Nannup very well ...pretty place not to many people live there but like all the country towns they are growing very fast as people are flooding out of Perth.
To much trouble there with the lovely youths of today in Perth causeing trouble where ever the go,I hate to think what it will be like in twenty or so years.

Opthomoligist next Friday he is also a Surgeon but he is treating me for Glocoma.Very nervous as to how much site I have lost ,he will give me another Fields test, I hate that test but it must be done.

Going to get dinner on a bit late tonight with it all and I can finally say I am cold Ha! Ha!

Love to you all

Evelyn Sorry no sign of your Mother but don't loose heart she will turn up .
