Hi Everyone, am sitting here at my computer with the the late afternoon sunshine pouring through the window, temp 20 Celsius another beautiful Spring day.
Sorry to hear that it is a wee bit chilly up there in Scotland Frank.
Dear Venerable Robert as someone else who celebrates a birthday in December, I fully understand your desire to stay in your shell till January. It can all get a little bit to much.
As my OH turned 60 this month I decided to make a fuss of him this year as I did nothing for his 40th or 50th. So he had a number of special treats and gifts throughout this month including going to see Bonny Tyler, in concert culminating with a Birthday Party last night. drinks and nibbles followed by dinner at a neat place called the Cadillac Diner completely themed and decked out like an american 50's diner.
What he did not know and absolutely blew him away, was that I had hired a 1958 Cadillac Fleetwood 9 seater Limo to take us all to the Restaurant and drive us back afterwards.
As he has a passion for early american cars especially Cadillacs. Last night for him felt like all his Christmases had come at once.
Watching him jump into the Cadillac was like watching a small boy getting to climb on a Fire Engine.
Now his birthday is over I can start to think about getting organised for Christmas, first on the agenda is sending my Christmas cards which I will do in about a weeks time, unlike Susan my Christmas tree does not go up until the Twelve of December.
And this year I have decided to think outside the square when it comes to Christmas Dinner I am getting to old to bother slaving all day in the kitchen for a family who pop in then out again, as they have invites to somewhere else and they are not hungry anyway. All for the sake of tradition Last year OH and I went to a Restaurant for Christmas Lunch something we had not done in 26 years it was great.
This year we are going one better we plan to hop in the car drive down to KFC [Kentucky Fried Chicken, don't know whether you have this american takeaway in Britain?] they serve Turkey on Christmas day
we will buy a large pack and drive to the beach about half an hour away and sit in the sand and the sun enjoying a 'downunder Christmas the way it should be no family squabbles or drunk relatives, no dishes no stress. If anyone wants to join us, sorry you will have to find your own stretch of beach.
Catch you all again Josie

So far.......shhh........we do not have any snow.......shhh. It is very cold and was -5 when I took my granddaughter home at 6pm. We're keeping the central heating on all the time at the moment just to maintain the temperature.
Had a very busy day running a stall at our church fair. Granddaughter looked stunning dressed as a Chinese girl. Was so proud of her.
Dear Venerable Robert, I think you will have to prepare yourself for a small crowd gathering outside of your shell on 25.12. We will be singing Happy Birthday very lustily. You can just wave at us if that makes you feel better.
Hi Evelyn......I know what you mean about Widdy but........she was invited to join the show and people are voting for her so............??? As someone said to me on Friday, if the producers want people to take the show very seriously as a dance show, then they shouldn't invite people like John Sergeant and Widdy to take part. It's a difficult one really. I am not sure we would watch it if it weren't for the bit of fun with Widdy to be honest. I might, but not sure about OH. My favourite is probably Matt but I think Pamela is excellent for 61 - she did the splits tonight........cor! It takes me all my time to pick something up from the floor these days!
Can't believe it is only 9.15pm. Feels like I have been up forever!!
Going for a browse around.
Take care friends. Cx

Oh Frank its a wee bitty cold here in Guernsey as well, we have had snow but the roads are clear, just a dirty mush at the moment, some gardens and fields are still white and my dark blue car has changed colour, I dont think I shall venture far today. How nice to hear from Josie again. Do keep wrapped up warm Robert, is there anything you need in that shell of yours, hope you have a nice wooly hat. There has been some more interest on my Trying to find mother thread who knows maybe she will be traced after all. at least we are back as far as 1927 now, that is 2 years further than ever before, I think it is wonderful that folk that dont even know me are so helpful, I am very grateful. I hope the roads are O K around Ann,s area or her OH wont be earning again, Careful how you go Cynthia and dont overdo it, you always seem so busy, glad you enjoy Strictly Come Dancing at least that makes you sit down for a while. I have enjoyed watching Widdy but now I feel it is time for her to go Matt is very good isnt he and Scott, I somehow cant take to Gavin, he always looks as if he is about to nod off, I would love to see Kara win, who is your favourite Cynthia? We have no newspapers or mail today as the airport is closed because of ice on the runway. The house is nice and cosy as we have a multi fuel stove and the radiators turned on as well I also have my thermals on, what a sexy site that is. Keep well my friends love to you all Evelyn XX I hope our Wayne is well

Cynthia,
I don't think the venerable Robert would be enamoured with a bunch of balloons arriving at his cave door unless they had a carry out !
A carry out........... Cairry-oot
a selection of refreshments usually conveyed in a plain brown paper bag, the modern equivilent probably being a Tesco bag for life ;)

Robert is our Venerable friend Frank.......it is only right that we celebrate with him on his special occasion. We will keep it quiet and dignified......just going to order the balloons!
I hope it doesn't snow where you are Anne - I can remember the probs your OH had last year and I guess you want to avoid that happening again at all costs.
Hope everyone else is okay. Cx

That wasn't Robert snoring,
It was the mountain rescue using their chainsaw to cut through all the frozen ice and snow in an attempt to free him from the cave he calls home.
They needn't bother as I'm sure that Robert is well stocked up with all his supplies and if he feels threatened then he will just burrow down deeper ;))
You lot are worse than the Sirens, trying to lure in the poor unfortunates to their doom.
Let Robert enjoy his peace and goodwill.................. in peace ;)

Robert - I have to join Cynthia on this one - snow or not - you have to pop out for your party
Susan you are only winning because rain stopped play - we had you on the run (sort of)
Cynthia - not a fan of Turkish Delight - hope it didn't squish too much
Josie - nice to have you pop back in again
Sylvia - glad the Kitchen is OK - hope you have a fantastic time at your Daughters - I know its a bit early but
Frank - Will be thinking of you in Washington - you lucky thing - wish it was me - i would love to go there
The Ouija board does not need to be that big - but not much use on our own - we need to at least have a couple of people together somewhere for it to work
I still have the Large HELP Clinic thingy - so no idea what is happening on GR
Wonderful news about Ancestry having the 1911 - but it won't be just yet shame
WHERE IS EVELYN - have you gone into hibernation as well
Well working tomorrow & i am on the emergency contingency list in case we do get snow - but hope they won't call me for Sunday - i need one day off
Well back to work - took a long time just reading through all the info on here

Hi Everyone, It's been a long time but I am back. I see the Snow is falling where you are Sylvia. Do wrap up warm. After an appalling winter and early Spring here, November has been a superb month with loverly sunny days and temps between 16 and 22 Celsius.
Susan is right True Turkish delight is perfumed because it is made with Rosewater. I adore this confection and when I was a child my Mother used to make it Along with Chocolate fudge and Coconut Ice for Cake Stalls and Fetes.
Am in the middle of making A large Devil's Food Cake for my OH'S 60th Birthday Party tomorrow. Must get back to it otherwise it will not be cooked before bedtime.
Take care catch you all later. Josie

Hi Everyone
Nice to have you all chatting away again.
Cynthia only doing the Decorations early because the OH can't help at the moment but I got it done sooner than I thought.
The lights outside can wait a while for the Grandsons to get on the roof for us,Rob has no chance doing it this year.
Frank I hope the snow stays away for you but I don't like the chances of that and poor Robert all alone in that cave I hope he keeps nice and warm.
Sylvia so glad your Kitchen is all done it must have beeb terrible having it out of action for so long,I hope you were easy on the take awayt hat would have been my way of copeing.
Have not heard from Kiwibird in a while.the mine explosion in New Zealand is really shocking and those poor men could not have been saved,I think there was 29 dead in that mine disaster. From what I have heard the coal is burning in the mine and the gases that are building up explode, there was a third one today.
Turkish Delight is so nice but Frank is correct the real stuff has a wonderfull purfume,I buy it from time to time .
Cricket just gone off for bad light and pooring with rain so have to wait until tomorrow . It is being played in Brisbane that is over the other side of the country,5 hour flight from Perth.
Better get on with my housework, did you buy your snow shovel Cynthia.
Love to everyone Suex

Sylvia,
We leave again on the 27th as it's back to work on the 29th then New Year with our Scottish grandaughter.........hey it's all go.
By the way Cynthia, Sylvia and I will be separated by about 30,000 feet so rest assured that there is nothing untoward in our both being missing at the same time.
Sylvia will be going that way >>>>>> with her chicken legs while I'll be throwing vol au vents out of the window going this way <<<<<< and never the twain shall meet.............
Sylvia, I think it's time you introduced your s-i-l to your w-r-p.
It's flown past my ear a few times.
Of course he may just be worried about you drooling over the keyboard ;))
Snow in the north east (Aberdeen etc) so I think you are ok for a ffew days Cynthia.
Not too sure about poor Robert down the east coast but he can always microwave the sporran !!
Anne, I think you are getting away with it for the time being.
Cynthia, We shall remain in touch in spirit.
Hands across the sea................ but we would need a heck of a big table.
P.S. Was that an extremely flat piece of Turkish Delight then.
Happy thanksgiving.................

Still be in touch from the other side??? Is there something we should know Frank? Should we all be sitting round a table holding hands?
The Turkish Delight was the last piece of a large bar which I had been working my way through this week. Unfortunately, I sat on it the other night but it was perfectly fine after a rest in the fridge overnight!!! It was still in it's wrapper by the way.....lol
So both you and Sylvia will be absent.............it will certainly be quiet round here then!
Bye ~~~~~~~
