Hi everyone :-D

Poor Reece, let's hope that your completion date finally goes through - I'm sure it will help you to settle down more.

Floods are very worrying and I do feel for folk when they lose their homes to floodwater. We are threatened with heavy rain later today :(

Thankfully, the snow disappeared quite quickly and life returned to some sort of normality. My daughter went back to work and left me the legacy of her cold. Thank you daughter dear!! But not a lot! :-(

I'm hoping to get some time to work on my tree for a little while and have been sorting and re-storing my photographs.

I went out for a quiet coffee at our local coffee shop the other day and one of the part time girls said that she knew my face from somewhere. This happens to me occasionally, so I wasn't unduly bothered.

We discussed where we had lived etc. and then suddenly, she said....."You're .......'s mum aren't you?" It then transpired that she used to work with my daughter and had been to her 21st birthday at our house. That was 21 years ago and the nice girl said that I hadn't changed a bit.... :-D :-D :-D :-D That made my day!!

Take care and love to all........Cx <3 <3

Hi Everyone

MIL on the mend ,she had some of her stitches out today ,that is 10 days in .

They are leaving the others for a few more days as the cut is in a silly place and could open up easily.

I will be glad to sleep in my own bed tonight, the Daughter is down with her now .

The weather here is still hot but not to unbearable ,the weekend is a different story 38.to 40 c is expected.

It sounds like you are all having a bad time with your floods and the Snow ,the floods in the east of OZ is terrible and a lot of them have only just fixed up there houses from the last floods 2 years ago.

Water is at a pemium too with lots of mud spoiling the fresh water suppies, that is all over the other side of OZ to me a 5 hour flight for me to Queensland.

Baby sitting the Grt Grandaughter at the moment and loving it ;-).

Better go and put some dinner on.

Robert nice to see you back and hope all is well with you and your Wife <3

Hello everyone,

Hope that those of you suffering are now all on the mend. You begin to wonder "will I ever get back to "normal" life again. I wish you all well again soon.

I am promised a letter this week giving me a completion date late March (Easter?). I live in hope!

Family in Oz all flooded out - Grafton and the Clarence Valley have had the highest flood water ever since settlement began. I do feel for them - it was so unexpected with the water rising really fast. I can't help worrying but don't expect to hear for awhile. People here have had a really awful time too with snow and floods and I have great sympathy for them all.

Found something odd in my tree - have a census where an elderly lady, living in the household is named as the head's (a widow) mother- in- law but I know that she is not. Was it the custom I wonder, to use that term for someone older other than "mother", as I have noticed that no other relationships are recorded e.g. "aunt" or similar. There was a family connection by marriage but not this one.

Love to you all.

Kiwibird Report 26 Jan 2013 22:50

Hi Everyone,

Glad to hear all is well with you Robert.

Am sorry to hear about your toe Sylvia ,
I can sympathize, about the pain, as the pain in my arthritic knees often causes me to lean to the side that is least sore when I walk,

which in turn causes pressure and swelling,

then I get corns on my feet, which in turn rub causing more pain and I hobble more and then my hips start to ache. It becomes a vicious circle.

So hope your toe comes right very soon <3

Sorry to hear you have been unwell Susan, hope your recovery is going well.

That heat over there at present must be very draining.

I am sorry to hear about your MIL , hopefully the prognosis is wrong and that her skin does heal back. It is not a nice outlook otherwise.

My Mother who is in her 80's has such paper thin skin on her legs, she only needs to get a small scratch and it will break out into an ulcer.

We had a week of torrential Rain and gale force winds but now are basking in all day sun and the tinniest of breezes,
the outlook for the next 10 days is Sun and lots of it :-)

Temps are around 24C which is very pleasant, without being to hot.

In NZ we are very lucky in that Temps here never get over 38C,

Unlike Australia, where temps have gone above 50C this Summer and they have had to create 2 new colours for their weather maps to show this.

I have friends 30 ks outside of Melbourne, Victoria, who are not far from Bush Fires and other friends in Brisbane, Queensland who are about be flooded due to Torrential rain, that should be falling in the South where everything is burning :-S
Tomorrow night am off to see Cliff Richard in Concert , can't wait :-D

My daughter bought me a Gold Ticket for Christmas and I am sitting only 5 rows back from the stage.
Which is exciting in itself as when I can afford to go to concerts I can only usually afford the cheap seats so far back that I have to watch on the big screens.

Take care everyone, be careful in that 'White Stuff' that you don't have any falls as it melts away.

Time to make some lunch, catch you all later
Josie :-) :-) :-) <3 <3 <3

I woke to an eerie silence this morning which is strange as this is such a busy, busy, road. The snow is about 5-6" deep, if not more. There are at least 6 abandoned cars which have been pushed over to the kerbs.

OH says there was fun and games at about 1am this morning as around 10 cars were skewing up and down the road and their passengers were rushing around trying to push them. I missed it all........ :-D

Can't see the point in attempting to go anywhere today but, as it's starting to rain, the snow may not last that long......whoopeee.....

Hello everyone.......my goodness.....I was hoping that this was going to be a quiet week but I seem to be meeting myself coming back.....and I don't even know where I've been... :-S

Lovely to see Evelyn, Arthur, Sally and Robert popping in and to know that they are okay ......... :-D

Glad to know you are feeling better Sue but just mind you don't overdo things whilst you're looking after your MIL.

Poor Sylvia isn't having a very good time of things with her poorly foot......it sounds horribly painful........sending lots of love... <3 <3

My daughter is off work with a bad throat and cough. It's the first time she has been off sick in over 2 years which isn't bad really. I made her a shepherd's pie earlier and took it down to her.

I also took my friend out for a coffee this afternoon. I think it did her good to get a breath of fresh air.

We have been threatened with some more of the awful white stuff tomorrow.... :-( :-( Just when I was hoping we had seen the last of it......sigh. Fortunately I am well stocked up so should be absolutely fine.

I've had my friendly decorator in to freshen up some white paint - skirting boards etc. It does make a difference and looks very nice again now. :-D

Here's hoping that tomorrow is a bit quieter...........or I may find myself going round in ever decreasing circles :-D :-D :-D :-D

Take care and love to all Cx <3 <3

Hi Everyone

More dramas in the family ...MIL was walking back into the front gate and caught the back of her foot on the bottom of the gate and now has 8 stitches in her foot ,cast on the front so she does not bend her foot up or it will open cut and will need doing again all over so I am sleeping there tonight to keep an eye on her and stop her from walking on her foot.

She is 92 and they say her skin may not mend again .

As soon as I am well this happens ,might send the OH to sleep tomorrow night after all it is his Mother.

Another warm day again but it is bearable at the moment, they said we may have a few showers last night but they lied ;-).

Going to pack my sleeping over case :-D.

Drop in again tomorrow.

My love to you all ...nice to see you Sylvia ,I know how much trouble a big toe joint can give you...I had mine removed about 8 years ago .

Hi Sue

and everyone

sorry I haven't posted since last Friday ..........

just had a quick read back.

(((((hugs))))) for everyone

The inflammation moved to my big toe joint last Friday .......... not surprising as I had been putting pressure on it as I tried to avoid putting pressure on the other joint!

......... it has been giving me gyp. Couldn't even get the sandal on, so I have spent most of the time sitting with my foot up, and ice pack at regular intervals.

I had a physio appointment today, managed to get the sandals on without discomfort, but it was pouring with rain! So OH took me.

Physio said I was doing all the right things .................. just time needed.

We've had several very foggy days, with low temperatures.

Fog went yesterday afternoon .......... rain came in overnight!

take care everyone

Hi Everyone

Feeling a lot better now and trying to do a bit of my tree.

Anne I wish I could send you some warm weather as I would love some Snow two ,it is so hot here.

Arthur I cannot say I am a fan of cats,we have a lot of beautiful birds in OZ and I love to encourage them in the garden but if I had a cat I would have no Birds.

Plan on getting a new puppy soon as we have now put up a side gate so it won't get out on to the road.

We had a lovely Christmas and New year but the weather has been so very hot we just stayed indoors in the air con hence my very bad cold that went to my chest.

My sister in the UK had her hysterectomy but it was done laproscopic and the doctor pulled part of her bowl through the incision on the way out ,it stayed that way for 5 days .
When she started having pain they found what had gone wrong and they had to operate again and she lost part of the bowl,to cut a long story short she is on the mend but I can't say I am impressed with the UK health system, thankfully my Sister is recovering.

I better get the OH's dinner going ...he has been very good over the last week or so .

Nice to see you all back again.

Edit ....I see I still have to put compatibility on for Emoticons :-| thought they may have fixed that by now :-D :-D :-D

Hi Everyone

First I must apologize for not being on the boards for a while .

It has been so hot here and in and out of air conditioning is not a good thing .

I have been in bed for a week with a very bad chest infection and have been fining it hard to breath.
My doctor has me on all sorts of Antibiotics and I am starting to come good again .
I did hear from my Sister in the UK last night who told me about all the Snow you are having,I think a bit of that would help all of us out here.

It is very nice to see everyone coming back and Robert so nice to see you and your family are OK.

I am going to have a nice bath in a minute and I will be back on tonight so will catch up on some of the news .
