Hello everyone, hope you are all free of snow, if not that you are enjoying it!!!
No snow here, strong winds and VERY cold.
I keep making myself some good wholesome soup and have donned the thermals,I am not concerned about the look just going for the comfort.
Keep safe, love to you all

Everyone else has chipped in,in the last few days and not wanting to be left out, I thought I'd do the same.

All is well with me/us.

Best wishes to you all.

I am fine - had a back problem for a few days, but now hopefully recovered.

Have had internet problems but they are now hopefully a thing of the past. Funny how everything is OK and suddenly stops.

Kittens are fine - they are now small cats but just as mischievious. They like nothing better than sitting in front of the monitor whilst I try to work on the computer.

We also now have the snow and it is settling. As I live at the junction of a slope and a hill it can prove difficult.

Did a big shop yesterday in case I cannot get out.

Well the "White Stuff" has arrived with a vengance - it started around 0840 this morning & is still falling - non stop & occasional blizzard

Needless to say we decided not to travel - will see what tomorrow brings

Thanks for the info about the sack Sally - we were going to use the old car mats as they do the trick too - we are now waiting for the call from the inlaws tonight to see how much SNOW - there I said it - they have

So very glad I had the day off - staying in the warm doing my family tree things again - it is certainly an addiction.

Cynthia - you could make a start on my rabbit hutch (another name for our small house) if you want its only small

Sylvia - take care of yourself - at least you got to chat with your relies if not go sightseeing.

I really do miss Frank - we all had such fun in the old days

Anyone for a snowball party - just wrap up well & come & join us we only have around 3 inches at the moment -

Take care all <3 <3 <3 <3 ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-)

Good morning everyone!

We have had a smattering of snow and, it that's all we get, I will be a happy bunny :-D

So glad you persevered with that picture Evelyn - well done :-D

I seem to have caught the Spring Cleaning Bug early this year...... :-S I decided to take down all my blinds to wash them, by hand, in the bath. Dear oh dear....my back! My knees! It took me two days and I was cream crackered by the time I had finished.... :-(

My husband said the rooms look brighter........they MUST have been dirty!!! :-0

Of course, having cleaned the blinds, I then had to clean the windows........

Then, yesterday, I dry wiped all my white walls - they weren't bad at all thank goodness :-D

Today - maybe a bit of ironing and that's IT! For now...... :-D

I have had a bag of unwanted blankets etc in the garage for a while and, finally got round to finding a good home for them. I googled animal rescue centres in my area and contacted them. I got such a lovely reply from them and, they even went out of their way to arrange for someone to come and pick them up.

I have just treated myself to a new dressing gown, as has my daughter, so I washed them and added those to the bags. They will be lovely for some poor unfortunate animal to snuggle into - especially in this weather :-D

We haven't heard from Arthur for a while......maybe he is being kept busy by the antics of his kittens.....hope all is well though.

Must go and start the day......love to you all Cx <3 <3

Hi Sue

and everyone

well, our Aussie visitors arrived last Saturday (the 12th) and have now left ............ currently on their way to Los Angeles, where they will get on board a Qantas flight to Brisbane in about 2 hours time.

It has been a good, but not excellent, visit .............. largely because I and the husband both had health problems.

They are among my most favourite rellies, so we did have lots to talk about. She is my second cousin, but is only about 7 or 8 years younger than me.

I had a recurrence of inflammation of a couple of toe joints due to arthritis, so was hobbling around the whole time they were here. The only shoes I could wear were ................ my summer sandals

The only treatment is ice, elevation, rest .......... and pain killers.

It did mean that I couldn't go out with them ....... so OH did all the sightseeing AND shopping things

Meanwhile, R was suffering from a bad attack of asthma, which turned into bronchitis. He was in bed most of Tuesday, OH took him to a walk-in medical clinic on Wednesday, and they were back there early this morning (Thursday) to check x-rays, etc. At one point yesterday the doc was worried he actually had pneumonia ...... which could have stopped them flying home.

The problem was caused by going on a 3 day cruise over New Year .................. there was lots of smoking on board, and the smoke was getting into the air conditioning vents. R is susceptible to smoke

Anyway, OH and I are now on our own, and getting back to normal ........ whatever that might be

I hope you do not get the amount of snow that has been threatened!

take care

s
xx

Hi everyone,
It's bitterly cold here but as yet no white stuff, though it is forecast for early tomorrow,
Hope the forecast is wrong as I am not a big snow fan.
I have got plenty of food in so won't have to go out,I shall remain indoors in the warm
Cynthia it took me ages to get that photo on here but I wouldn't give up and finally it worked, thank you so much for your help my friend.

Hello - anyone there

Sally at least the animals are having fun

According to the news - we are all going to get a big dollop of the "white stuff" tomorrow - I have the day off & we are going over to the East coast to the In-laws

Well that depends on the "White Stuff" - we may find a lot less or get half way & turn back - anyway - i am going to make sure we are prepared

Spade in the boot - blanket on back seat - sandwiches - biscuits and bottled water - torches with good batteries - AA card - snow boots - phones charged - scarves & gloves & thick coats - good tank of petrol. Think i have it covered unless you can think of anything else? not use to trecking in the snow

Assume the other half of the world is sweltering by the pool with the BBQ

All we can offer you is a very heavy frost agin this morning & frozen milk

Hope to hear from someone soon

Take care all ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-)

Evelyn.....I'm proud of you! You've got Diane's photo as your avatar . It does make her seem more of a person if you know what I mean :-D :-D :-D

We've had a bit of snow this evening - hope we don't get too much :-(

Mind you, I have so much food in that it would be good to get some of it eaten up I think.

Hello everyone, see I am still around.
My brother in law and his lovely wife took me out for a meal last night, most enjoyable, they have been so kind to me since I lost my Mr Grumpy, not sure I would have coped so well without them, bless them.
Glad to know you are all o k.
I am saddened to hear about the dreadful fires in Australia, nature can be very cruel
Still looking for Diane and she is still hiding, but one day perhaps

Nice to see a few of you back - I am no longer alone :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D

Josie glad you have sorted some of your tree - if you ever need any look ups on census - let me know i have an Ancestry subscription - got it for Christmas - just drop me a pm or 2 - glad to hear you have some work

Sally thank you for the sympathy

Watched "Oranges & sunshine " very thought provoking - how did the governments get away with it - let alone the organisations all in the name of "Christian Charity" & what happend to the children in a civilised socirty is way beyond belief.

Thats me off my soap box for a sunday afternoon

Morning everyone! Seem to have been going thisaway and thataway for a while now.

Haven't forgotten you all - just that nothing really interesting has happened - just day to day plodding stuff :-D

I've been dipping in and out of my family tree too Kiwibird. As new info comes on line, I tend to go off in all directions and then wonder why it's bedtime again :-S

The fires in Oz are dreadful and I do hope all our friends are safe :-(

Reece, you sound much more your old self - :-D I've given up keeping too much stuff and now dispose of things which will be of no interest to my children. Makes life much easier I have to admit.

Going out in a tick so had better go and make myself respectable - will pop back later ~~~~

Kiwibird Report 13 Jan 2013 04:05

Don't despair Anne all is not lost ;-)

I have returned

Have been very busy for the last week, managed to get a good deal on Ancestry UK.

one months subscription for around £4 . Have never been able to afford a full subscription to Ancestry.
So I have been spending each day of my break before I start work again on Monday working on extending both my Maternal Grandmother's family who lived in London, Surrey and Oxfordshire. And my maternal grandfather's family in Lancashire.

Discovered that a brother of my maternal gg grandfather who according to research done by a cousin was still single in 1881 and died around 1900.

I found him in 1891 living with a wife and 2 children next door to the address he was living in with his married Brother in 1881.

So have been busy finding his wife and 6 children he had before dying in 1901.
A whole line we knew nothing about.

But the biggest discovery I made was on Boxing day when I could not access my Tree on here
:-P
So went to FMP instead as they had offered em 60 free credits.
And decided to work on my maternal 3x great grandfather Wright's Siblings, a part of my tree I gave up on about 4 years ago as It was like looking for needles in a haystack..

After wasting nearly all my credits I finally found the right Benjamin Wright with a wife an a daughter in the 1851 Census. He then disappeared . After some detective work I finally found him in Australia :-D

He had gone to Victoria, for the Gold rush that started in 1851, 5 years later when he was established his wife and 2 daughters went out to join him he had a further 8 Children in Australia
. And the oldest daughter had 14 Children only 2 dying, I have not even started on the other Siblings but it is very apparent that I have masses of cousins in Australia to find.

Luckily Where we now live is not far from a public library with a Geneolgy section and they have free access to Ancestry worldwide so have spent some time at the library finding Australian records.

My sub to Ancestry only allows me into the basic English set but been great for finding the rest of the family that did not emigrate.

I also got side tracked as I realised I could make contact with people on Ancestry who had copied some stories I had written and attached to my Tree I have had on Ancestry for years, belonging to my maternal grandfather.

They have been in touch :-) and are distant Cousins, one of them is able to provide me with some information in areas that I had run up blank.

So am feeling very HAPPY :-) :-) :-) as far as my family researching in 2013 is going.
It takes my mind of mine and OH'S work situation :-(
I have got 29 hours next week and possibly the following but beyond that have no idea. Normally it is very quite this time of year with everyone away on holidays before School starts back at the beginning of Feb,
however a massive survey the company undertakes every year for a government department, on peoples use and habits when it comes to Alcohol and should have been completed in Dec,

But the government departments who commission most of the surveys the company undertakes, where very slack this year and did not provide us with the names and numbers we needed until the end of Nov instead of in Sept.
leaving us with only 2 useful weeks to try and complete what should have been 2 months worth of work, even 60 extra people being employed in Nov, so it has meant that we got work for Jan.

For those of you in the UK
Be thankful that you are getting some of that Wonderful White Stuff :-D Australia is on fire, and those not burning, are slowly roasting in the extreme heat. While in NZ you have the choice of either being washed away or blown away with mini tornadoes touching down in random places and torrential rain washing Campers out of their tents in Campgrounds in the far north.

Temps are around 22-32 Cel depending where you are, In Wellington.
we are around 23 Cel most days with 15-17 Cel overnight.

Luckily a lot cooler and much more pleasant than at Christmas :-0
But have been having a lot of gale force winds up to 130 kilometers an hour, that are not conducive to spending time outside even if the Sun is shinning.

Hoping that your dip in the pool was cooling Susan, though I would imagine that the temp in your pool is most likely in the mid twenty's

I notice that Cynthia and Sylvia are busy with 'Fanny under Gaslight and a new family tree help site that has been started by some Genes members on Facebook, a really good idea.

Well take care everyone , will catch you later

Josie :-) :-) :-) <3 <3 <3 :-D :-D :-D
