Josie - lovely to have you back with us again - sorry to hear your troubles

I too know how you feel as MY OH was more at home than at work for nearly 2 years - & we have just about struggled through - no fit young son to help us out -

However we did have the occasional fuel bill helped out by the outlaws & i had some much needed overtime - only down side was i was never at home & constantly feel very tired. He got very very depressed for months - if you need to talk you know where to find me.

We are still very lucky & seem to keep healthy (apart from the OH winter cold).

Sally - are you Ok were you not feeling well

I am very sad to lose Lisa - she did a lot to buck us all up she was so bubbly - but she was the right one to go as the others did have the knowhow & were better dancers - it made me cry too when she started on Sunday - it was so sad.

At least she will be back next week as they all do a few mins in the final.

Well better go -

I have a look round our new office this afternoon we will be on the 5th floor - but no sea view - never mind it would have been a distraction - i will content myself with looking out our spare bedroon window.

From there we look out over the town (lovely at night with all the twinkling lights) & down to the sea in the distance - and up over to the countryside & Cissbury ring - on a clear day you really can see for miles.

Take care all <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-)

Hi Everyone, Thought it was time to come out of hibernation :-D

My computer decided to finally die on me. Was able to get a second hand one, my Son who is a Computer Nerd said he would be able to put my old hard drive into it.
However when he did this he discovered that the old hard drive was damaged and I thought I had lost all my data and Family Tree photos.

Luckily, while I had copies of my Family Tree on my hard drive. My main tree's are sitting on the Web.

A friend of ours said all was not lost and that he could save everything off the hard drive. So finally in Oct I had a computer with all my data on it again.

My OH is still out of work, he has been to a couple of job interviews that looked promising but missed out in each occasion to younger men. He has become very despondent and has given up job hunting.

Living with my 'wall to wall' as I put it , is very draining, as he is so negative. I am glad I have had about 20-28 hours of work a week over the last couple of months, so that I can get out of the house.

My Son who moved out of Home in July, unfortunately moved back in, in November.

I was just starting to enjoy the benefits of just being a couple again.

Though his moving back in has some much needed financial benefits and he his more helpful around the house then he ever was before.

It is Summer here now and the temp is around 20C-22C every day while it is great to have the sun and warmth, there is also high humidity some days which makes it oppressive and causes the osteoarthritis in my knees to play up. And walking anywhere becomes a real physical undertaking.

Also doing Christmas baking is exhausting when the temp in the kitchen is close to 30C.

There are definite benefits to having Christmas in the winter time as most of you do.

As usual I am rushing to get all my Christmas preparations done in the last week,
Christmas Tree should have gone up 5 days ago, cards should have been posted, baking should have been finished. Ha HA

I came down with a nasty stomach virus at the beginning of Dec, then it was my birthday, another year older yuk!! and for the first time in decades I was invited to a couple of Christmas functions. So I have effectively lost 2 weeks.

It's hard to believe that Christmas Day is only a week away today and only 2 weeks to the end of 2012.

Oh well back to my Mince pies and shortbread baking.

Take care and keep warm. In Sue's case keep cool.

Catch you all later Josie :-) :-) :-) <3 <3 <3

Hi Everyone

Waiting for our dear neighbour to arrive home ,I am sure he is very excited about coming home.

Cynthia

I have been talking to my Uncle in Gloucester and he tells me it is freezing over there and he too has been quite sick with the flu.

Over here it is the reverse and older people get sick and sometimes die as a result of the heat so we keep a close watch on the MIL...she will not have air con and just gets by with her ceiling fans.

Better get back to the cricket Australia playing Sri Lanka,we are doing OK ;-)

Love to you all <3 :-D

Oh my goodness Sue - you've certainly being doing some sick visiting lately haven't you? Sad about your uncle over here and I hope your dad comes to terms with it gently. Hope all the others are well on the road to recovery now.

Arthur - I don't think we can enlarge our avatars on here. You would have to take a close of the kittens for us to get a larger view. It's a pity really because there are some interesting pictures around.

I have been sniffling and sneezing with a cold for the last couple of days but, at last, I think it is drying up. :-D

Will be really glad when it's 6th January and we can get back to normal. May put the tree up on Monday............such a killjoy!

My son is taking some of the family to Manchester this afternoon to visit the German markets.......hope they have a good time. Meanwhile, I will be watching Strictly and wondering who will be next to leave. It's been a very standard so far.

Going to drink my coffee now...........

See you all soon and love to all....Cx <3

Hi Everyone

Finally finished the Christmas shopping and all my cards are gone off.

My elderly neighbour comes home to morrow so I will not have to water anymore after today that will free up my time a bit.

We went up to Perth on thursday as my dads younger brother died in the UK on Wednesday ...he was very upset ,his brother was quite sickly for a long time but even though you expect these things to happen it always come as a shock when it does and dad is 84 .
While up there we visited our neighbour in hospital ,he looks well when you consider he nearly died and in fact did twice on the way to the Hospital.

We are off to visit the MIL for a while, when I get back have to ring my Sister in the UK .....she has just had a hysterectomy on thursday ...hope she is OK..

Drop in again tonight :-D

Quite difficult to see on such a small photo. She is becoming silver, not quite a tabby, but very evenly marked.

Is there any way to show larger photos or thumbnails that will expand when clicked?

Nice to be warmer, but could do without the rain!

Ok now this is really silly - its the third time I have tried to type this today & lost it all

What is going on - Am I the only one left - the only one to pop in - :-( :-(

I had a couple of days off & noone around - however i did do overtime this morning so not really a day off

On the way home at 9am this monring after being in the office a few hours it tipped it down - more like being out in a monsoon

Hope the Kittens are behaving well & the Christmas tree is still standing

I cant believe i am the only one left with time on my hands to do an update

Going off to sulk in the corner now :-0 :-0 :-0 :-0 :-0 :-0

Take care all

Just finished my cards last night - phew - spent 20 mins at the post office getting stamps - they cost more than the cards - Stamp 50p 1 box of cards 12 for £2.99 (24 p each) until i went to the counter & they had reduced the cards to 12 for 99p thats 8p per card & they are really pretty cards too.

Sorry to hear about your friend Cynthia - I have done several cards this year but not sure if I will get a reply or hear they are no longer with us - sometimes you are left wondering as you never do get to hear. Trouble is the family & mums friends are all getting into their late 80's early 90's now.

My old school friend just told me not to send to her mum this year as she has had to go in a home now as suffering from Vascular dementia now -

You seem to hear this sort of illness so often now -

I loved the WDYTYA they postponed it for the new Michael Palin series they seem to have left one of the best ones to last - even if I didn't know who he was - he seemed very interested & was really keen to follow things up. just like old times

Some of this series were really dull & you got so fed up of them

Well better go - will discuss this more another time - spent so long in the post office no time to finish the sarnie.

Take care all <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

Sorry folks, like Sue, there don't seem to be enough hours in the day sometimes..... :-S

I dreamt about Evelyn the other night. I was giving her a guided tour of Liverpool for some unknown reason. I used to know my way around the city but not sure I could do it now. She had one of those little cases on wheels and kept leaving it everywhere and we had to go and find it. We seemed to be having quite an hilarious time of it though...... :-D :-D :-D

I've finished searching through the war records and am now trying to sort out a mystery. Several years ago, I had contact from a chap whose family bore my maiden name. I was still 'green' back then and went along with things.

However, I remember that I later tried to fit this chap into my family tree but simply couldn't tally him up with anyone.

Then, he sent me a photo of some of his family and one bore an amazing resemblance to my late father. :-S :-S :-S

Again, things went onto a back burner for a while until I received a message this week from someone who knows a bit more. I am now going in another direction but, still can't fit him in :-( I will persevere! ;-)

Re my daughter's faulty boiler.......I sent a complaints form and an email to the housing association people and have received absolutely nothing in response. I phoned up and was told that it takes ten working days for a complaint to be processed. Maybe they hope we will forget about things in that length of time. Hahahaha

My Christmas cards went off last week and, yesterday, I received an email from someone who always looks forward to mine because they will make him laugh! Apparently, my round robin letter was 'vintage stuff' this year..... :-D

Nice to know that I can still make people laugh... :-D

The down side of this is when I opened a card to find that an old friend had died in November and that his wife has advancing dementia :-( Their daughter was kindly letting everyone know. When I spoke to her she told me how much her father had loved my round robins - so I sent her one in memory of him.... :-)

Had better go and tackle the day - it's a bit busy.........

Love to all Cx <3

Old Report 10 Dec 2012 18:18

I think you will find 2 are eliminated this week.

Really think the dance off should have been between Lisa and nicky - he stood no chance against Denise.

Final should be amazing and I could not pick a winner from Louis (remeber it is definitely more difficult for the male celebrities), Kimberley and Denise.

Nobody has commented on the lat WDYTYA - John Bishop. Well worth waiting for and so interesting.

Funny how times change. Minstrels would now be very non PC and lay preachers are unpaid members of the church, not highly valued members of the choir.

I wonder if the rules are still the same in the navy - so unfair to jail a stoker because the ship was sunk.

Bon Voyage Sylvia - Safe Journey - enjoy the time with the little one

Happy Christmas & a healthy New Year

Its still quite cold here - but none of the dreaded white stuff thank goodness

Strictly was a bit of a surprise - mind you - i think he probably was the weakest one left - i am sure its going to be Lisa this week - not that i want her to go - i really think she is fun & she is so good for those of us that arn't stick insects or twigs - & she can certainly move too.

Have to admit i am not that keen on Kimberly or Louis - he is getting better but needs to let go more - would love to see Lisa win - but I know she won't - if not Danni - i do like Denise - but some times I think she puts it on a bit.

Come on Evelyn - join in

Off for a potter about

take care all <3 <3 <3 <3

Hi everyone

it was a drizzly day here, but quite warm.

Not at all Christmassy!

we are madly trying to get our cards done, ready to put them in the post by Tuesday. We really do not want to take any with us on the train to finish ................ we're still sending out 100 or more cards, most with letters.

I had to go to the Eye Care Clinic at the hospital this morning (ie, Thursday) to see a retinal specialist ........................

and the eye exam went really well :-D :-D

They took digital photos of below the surface of the retina, not just of the surface.

It tells the specialist what is going on below the surface ......................

.............. I was absolutely fascinated looking at the pictures on the computer.

Anyway, he found nothing wrong .............. but says it would not be a bad idea to go back every year or 2 years for them to do updates.

I also had a glaucoma test, with 3 different eye drops .................... it took about 3 hours for my eyes to get back to normal!

It really is getting manic around here!

lovely to see everyone coming back to the thread :-D

Take care

Lovely having you back with us Sally

Safe journey to the other side of Canada Sylvia

Have the rest of the day off - its so chilly all I want to do is curl up and cat nap -

Just like the very large furry ginger lump that purrs has been doing since i arrived home - wonderful life being a cat in my house.

Not that he would agree with me at the moment he thinks its time he was fed - which it isn't - his idea is that he has slept at least half a day so its time for food - being given a very dirty look now & he is licking his lips at me - shame i dont take the hint

Turned round now with his back to me in a huff - now i share the room with a sulking great lump who really would like my lap to sleep on but I have a laptop - He hates it - the other morning it was just sitting on the floor on its tray - Ginger nut came in walked very slowly over to it - prodded it with a paw - then gave it a clout and a filthy look and turned his back on with a last kick of the back leg.

He can be the most sulky cat when he wants

Well back to the sorting out of the family tree - getting the decorations out tomorow which means I have to do the christmas cards - one of my least favourite things.

Take care all <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3
