On the records found by the kind GR member at LMA re Diane Leslie MacLeod they certainly DO say she WORKED there and was NOT a patient..

jansmith Report 23 Nov 2010 15:26

I had seen she worked there and the info was for staff records at the hospital as well as patient records i thought. I will read it through again
edit
yes does talk about staff records being closed for 75 yrs and patients for 100yrs

Thank you Jan.
I seem to have become rather protective of Evelyn since her post on the new Clinic Board and the replies on it.
Old she may be,computer lit not too good, but daft she is not yet....I think.;)
If that is another avenue to go down then I shall certainly take it.

Phoning them now.

jansmith Report 23 Nov 2010 15:34

Thats ok , i found it when i googled the name of the hospital and records. I have been following this thread and know that if there is any avenue you will look at it. It would be good to find the missing "link!" shame Scotland 1911 is not out yet!!!

FannyByGaslight

FannyByGaslight Report 23 Nov 2010 15:55

They do not have the records of those years only much earlier ones from when it first opened,BUT, the woman I spoke to(very nice and helpful)said that on her records there it says that if the detailed records of the nurses are not at LMA then they are still with the Hospital.
I have an address to write to and will look for a phone number tomorrow to try to phone first and see where and what that gets me to.

Thank you Viv, my guardian angel and Jan for your help, what would I do without you all?
This crazy old bird has just been out for a drive needed to get away from someone playing with his new remote control and the curse words, feel much better now.
Lovely to know that you all care enough to help me, thank you

jansmith

jansmith Report 23 Nov 2010 18:21

shame they didn't have anything as it sounds like she would have been happy to look for them for you had they been there

FannyByGaslight

FannyByGaslight Report 23 Nov 2010 18:38

Thats why I prefer talking to writing Jan.
Maybe more luck tomorrow, dont worry, I lay it on a bit about how long this search has been going on and the urgency of trying to make an old, old, woman happy before her number is called..:;)

FannyByGaslight Report 25 Nov 2010 14:49

Springfield Hospital have been phoned again today as the blokie was out yesterday that I needed to speak to apparently.
They are going to have a search to see if they can find any records of Diane as per my conversation from Surrey History Society that they are most likely, if anywhere, still in the hospital..
But as he is a "very busy"person as he put it,it may take some time.
At least we are getting in lots of practise of patience !

Hi Evelyn, I heard about your Mum from FannyByGaslight aka Viv by what I've read on here!

Ho hum! Well, I read pages 1-10 and then fast-forwarded to pages 31-34 so might have missed some stuff. I'll read the rest as well though.

The email from Highland Archives is from the head archivist so would hope he knows his stuff but I'll have a look next week to check in case there have been any more Stornoway school records unearthed. We have a brand new Archive Centre but alas it's not open on a Friday!

Fort George has a room devoted to details of officers from the Seaforths and Rossshire Buffs. There are photos and details of campaigns etc. I have no idea if there's any to do with a Major MacLeod but will try to have a look - by luck, they have free entry this weekend, and I live just a mile from it!
I see Evelyn has been there and was told that some records were destroyed so maybe I'm on a hiding to nothing, but still worth a look. Sometimes people donate items and histories to the museum, a needle in a haystack perhaps but I'm happy to try!

Some interesting names on there - Gormilia/Gormel or variant spellings is actually the Gaelic for Dorothy. I have a Gormel MacLeod in my tree, she was born and died in Skye though.

Any idea of the denomination of the Ministers?
If Church of Scotland then there is the Fasti Ecclesia
http://www.archive.org/details/fastiecclesiaesc00scot
If Free Presbyterian then there are some magazines available though they may just be from 1930's

Only approximately 150 days to go to the 1911 Census being available .. not that I'm waiting for it, or anything...

I'll read pages 11 to 30 later. I need to sleep now!!!
