I have been trying to delete some of the many copies of my last entry but cannot, the site is not working for me.
Anything is possible re relatives of Diane, as I have said many times she told lots of porkies so I wonder will we ever find the truth.
I know what you mean LK about family likeness but as I never saw these people I have no idea what they looked like.
Mother had a lovely complexion milk and roses type, very high cheek bones quite an attractive lady and she had a lovely speaking voice

reply from LMA!
Thank you for your email of 11/10/2011.

Within the Springfield collection, few staff records survive and none
appear to cover the period 1927-28. You can search the catalogue online
to see the range of material (ref H46) by using the following link:

http://search.lma.gov.uk/OPAC_LMA/login.html

I am sorry my reply will be disappointing to you.

Thanks Jan, it's the same old story isn't it? Another brickwall. One could almost believe Diane was deliberately covering her tracks and made a jolly good job of it!!

Evelyn

Evelyn Report 22 Oct 2011 16:52

So Diane remains a mystery.
I wonder what could have been so bad that made her want to distance herself from all her kin.
The way this is going, could she have been a part of MI5?????

Have you already researched the names mentioned in Evelyns Will, ie

Veronica Goddard Fenwick. and the rest?

Could any of them still be alive?

Cynthia

Some of the GF rellies live near Fans......but, despite emails, phone calls and letters........they won't reply to anything. I can pm details if you are interested. Let me know. :-D

Evelyn has given me the go a head to contact the Stornoway papers again and let them print the photographs .
You never know they might jog someone's memory

Cynthia

Cynthia Report 23 Oct 2011 08:11

That'sgood Quoy.

Actually, you have given me an idea.

There are a couple of magazines around which are aimed at the 'older' age range. I wonder if it's worth putting an advert in them?

A couple of years ago, I was looking for an old friend whom I hadn't seen for 40 years and someone contacted me with details and we got back in touch again.

Evelyn...................................?????

Evelyn, is that okay with you?

Evelyn

Evelyn Report 23 Oct 2011 09:06

Oh yes please Cynthia, I would be delighted if you would do that for me, please tell me the cost and I will send you a cheque.
Much love to you all my friends

Evelyn.
Don´t know about MI5 but possibly a witness protection programme.!!!
An organisation like Saga which has it´s own magazine might be worth a try, or what about Peoples´Friend which is Scotland based.

Hope you´re having a peaceful weekend.

They're the two mags I was thinking of wisechild ;-)

wisechild Report 23 Oct 2011 15:00

Cynthia, there´s also another one which is a monthly issue. Unfortunately I can´t for the life of me remember what it´s called, but I used to take it regularly when I lived in England.
That´s 6 years ago now so it may not be on issue any more, but it was specifically aimed at the over 55s & had all sorts of contact columns, including a family history/lost relative one.
Anybody out there remember what it´s called.???

Evelyn

Evelyn Report 23 Oct 2011 15:04

Marion you are probably thinking of Yours

wisechild

wisechild Report 23 Oct 2011 15:34

You got it Evelyn.
Talk about senior moments.
Mind you, 6 years is a long time.
The Lady´s not a bad suggestion either, especially if Diane was looking for work, but not sure about the family contact aspect.

Cynthia

Cynthia Report 23 Oct 2011 15:42

I'll try them all. :-D

Having known Diane I know she would be delighted with all the attention she is getting, just wish she had told the truth more often
