Hi Cynthia,

I like your idea, I have seen this thread very late so I will help if I can but my question is:

Does Evelyn have copies of all her brothers Full Birth Cert's, sometimes folk make the mistake of telling the truth in error as I have seen from something else I worked on.

I could purchase those for the search with permission.

Kind regards
Amanda

Just having a think about the newspapers....

WHY would a woman who died in Stonaway in the late 40' early 50's have an orbituary in a Dorset paper..???????

It's nattering me.

:-S :-S

I said that at the time, Sue. Unless she had a connection to Dorset or she was of a great age or there was something really interesting about her, I can't see why she'd be in the paper.

I have looked a the Dorset Echo and the Dorset Western Gazette and neither of their archives go back as far as 1945 to 1953.
Still :-S :-S

Thanks for the info about Evelyn's brothers.

Cynthia Report 25 Apr 2013 22:24

Almost my bedtime but.......

Evelyn doesn't have any of her brothers' birth certificates but I think she will see if she can get hold of at least one. She doesn't live anywhere near her family so it's all a bit difficult for her.

Many of the family papers were destroyed during the war unfortunately.

I don't know what it says on the marriage cert yet Sue. Either the information has already been given earlier on here, or I will have to wait till Evelyn can get hold of it at the weekend. Sorry.

FBG went to the archives in Dorset and checked the microfiche for the newspapers. The death was probably in many papers because of the lady's great age.

Apparently, someone in the family burnt all the photographs................arrrgghhhh.

Does anyone want to take on a specific issue of this mystery and work on it? It may help us to bring things together a bit............perleeeeze...... :-D

Hark.....I can hear my quilt calling me........night night........and thanks for sticking with it :-)

I'd offer to do the military side but going by the info we have, I think I've already done it!

Hi all
Just popping in.......good to see the thread on the move again.

Think we can rule out Deidre as possibly being Diane- the name rang a bell & I found her marriage some time back:

Marriages Dec 1931   (>99%)
Macleod  Deirdre G H  Withers  London C.  1c 1

But we will keep on looking!

Good morning........ :-)

Thank you Ann.....I think you probably have covered most aspects of the military side but, can I ask a favour.........please?

Would you have time to bring it altogether and post it as a complete post so that I can make a note of the page where all of the military stuff is, and refer people to that page when they ask if such-and-such has been looked at?

I just think it would be great to be able to say (in answer to a query)......"please look at page *** which shows you which records have already been searched."

I will keep a note of which page each section is posted. Hopefully, that should bring things up-to-date and avoid further searching through 99 pages of theories.

Are there any volunteers to bring together all the Springfield Hospital notes we have on Diane please? Is that a hand I see waving in the background??? :-D

Now, where is there a kind person who could tell us where has been searched re the very old lady whose death Diane referred to as 'Aunt Kate', when reading a newspaper in Devon? :-D :-D

As I have some free time today, I will try and gather the Goddard Fenwick stuff together and get it posted.

I'll have a quick look and get started before I make the beds............. ;-)

I'm sure I've seen somewhere that there is a MacLeod DNA project - is this something Evelyn might consider, to see if indeed Diane was a MacLeod?? Not sure how these things work, but just another angle that might tell us if we are on the right track??

I have reached page 70 of this thread............. xjskwirufndpqkeicnay.....is now how I am beginning to see things!! :-D

It is VERY hard not to get side-tracked but I have tried to stick to simply getting details about the G-F family. It's coming together nicely and has given me some more thoughts.

Funnily enough Vanessa, I have just passed something about DNA - somewhere on the pages 60-70.

Going for lunch......... ~~~~~~~~~
