Traciey Report 17 Aug 2009 15:37

If they did have a family they probably stayed over there as they would be grown ups by 1934 and doing there own thing. I wonder if this couple moved back due to older age.

I beleive Diane must have had brothers and sisters somewhere. But where is anyones guess!

Be back later.

Arrival Date: 16 Apr 1934

She seems to have Mackay as a middle name on the image, there was not one on her marriage cert.

I see but on the otherhand, my husbands x4 grt grandfather put on his marriage cert that his father was deceased as he had been told he was deceased by his grandmother, infact I found him very much alive. We must try other avenues, I wonder where he died? And where was his wife Jessie when he returned!

Edit, Ok I got all that lol

I'm not too good with Army things either but if they had a child the service number would be on the childs cert thats why I wanted to find a child. I wonder if previous census of Robert and his family would give us a clue to potential childrens names.

FannyByGaslight Report 17 Aug 2009 15:05

I have had a TOTAL flip out.

The brides name was JESSIE Macdonald on cert ,not Alice.
Where did Alice come from?
Edit......
Sorry folks, looks as though the transcriber got her mixed up with the next lady down on the page, who was an Alice but not a macdonald.

FannyByGaslight Report 17 Aug 2009 15:03

No,but the military station he was at in 1896 was

Dotacamund?rangoon.
And they were married in a Presbytarian church.

And he was Army medical staff,no corps thing given on cert..
Sorry I am rubbish at army stuff.

Traciey

Traciey Report 17 Aug 2009 14:29

Good work viv matching that information up, makes sense him being a medical student then going into army eventually becoming a Surgeon. Viv is Roberts Service number on the marriage cert to look for his service records?

Traciey

Traciey Report 17 Aug 2009 14:25

I was going to suggest to look for a potentail child of that marriage you found but there are no MacLeod children on Service Returns until 1914 so am not able to view it, however there is an Ava Margaret Al McLeod b 1879 (wonder if the Al stands for Alice) the name of the women on the marriage cert.

Edit: checked out above McLeod child and is not born to above parents.

You can do it with births or deaths also, scroll down to Service Returns and type in a name your looking for and up will pop all returns for that name.

Traciey

Service returns are of Military persons serving abroad, they can be births, marriages or deaths. They are found by scrolling down the list of Districts and just clicking on Service Returns.

Tabitha

I will show my lack of knowledge now
Where/what are the service returns on SP?I have never seen them.

Wish we knew how Diane recieved her private allowance before she married, was it drawn on a bank or through a trust fund,or through a solicitor or what?

Traciey

Traciey Report 17 Aug 2009 12:44

Vivienne I wonder why that Captain in Indian Army changed from McLeod to Macleod, I found strange that there was no MacLeods in the early 1900's for service returns on SP but there were McLeods, it makes you wonder.

I know its probably no relation but I found found an Ida Colina Campbell McLeod born to a Serjeant in the 1st Batt Seaforth Highlanders but his name was Kenneth?
