Have you already researched the names mentioned in Evelyns Will, ie

Veronica Goddard Fenwick. and the rest?

Could any of them still be alive?

So Diane remains a mystery.
I wonder what could have been so bad that made her want to distance herself from all her kin.
The way this is going, could she have been a part of MI5?????

Cynthia

Cynthia Report 22 Oct 2011 16:40

Thanks Jan, it's the same old story isn't it? Another brickwall. One could almost believe Diane was deliberately covering her tracks and made a jolly good job of it!!

reply from LMA!
Thank you for your email of 11/10/2011.

Within the Springfield collection, few staff records survive and none
appear to cover the period 1927-28. You can search the catalogue online
to see the range of material (ref H46) by using the following link:

I am sorry my reply will be disappointing to you.

I have been trying to delete some of the many copies of my last entry but cannot, the site is not working for me.
Anything is possible re relatives of Diane, as I have said many times she told lots of porkies so I wonder will we ever find the truth.
I know what you mean LK about family likeness but as I never saw these people I have no idea what they looked like.
Mother had a lovely complexion milk and roses type, very high cheek bones quite an attractive lady and she had a lovely speaking voice

Could she have been adopted and given another name(no records for that time are there!!) and this is why she cannot be found in births etc??

29 replies Evelyn.?
It is not you but the site is playing up.
What I am wondering is do they have a family resemblance or could they be cousins because of politeness. I had people I called aunty when I was small.

Evelyn

Evelyn Report 21 Oct 2011 18:05

Donald and Ishbel were mothers cousins, I have never met them, I only know what she told us about them, I dont know about Ishbels age but I have always been under the impression that Donald was older than mother.
I have never met any of my mothers blood relatives.

I wonder if you could tell us more about your cousins.
Are they definitely blood relatives?

Anything is possible in this story wisechild!!! :-D

However, there is a massive age difference between Christophine and Diane......Christophine was 40 in the 1911 whilst Diane (wherever she was at that time) would have been maybe 5 or 6. But........by the 1920's.......who knows??

Too many flippin' co-incidences every which way we turn....... :-S

Sorry Jan.....forgot to bring those papers down.....later....I promise

Regarding the nursing connection.
Diane was assumed to be Scottish, but Christorphine wasn´t.
Is it possible they could have worked together?

Those are the only ones coming up that could be her aged 102 at death...No Kate/Katherine/Kathleen or any other kind of name similar that I can find...Not even a few years either way.....There are a few Catherines slightly older and younger at death ,but these are the only exact ones.

I have made a rudimentary search of them all on 1901 census and looked at the Death cert of Catherine Matheson (nee Robertson)and searched her on 1911...No child of the age with her nor did she have children called Donald and Ishbel/Isabell on census at all...

Evelyn.... :-D :-D :-D

Here is something else for us to work on.....

Evelyn remembers her mother reading something in the Dorset Echo in the late 1940's - early 50's. It was an item about a lady who had died aged 102 in the far north of Scotland. It may well be connected to Aunt Kate.....maybe Catherine but she doesn't think the surname was MacLeod......is this worth a shot?

I have emailed the Dorset Archives to see where their old newspapers are kept. Do any of you live around that area?

Fans had a quick look on SP I think - there seem to be several Catherines who died at that age in various places in Scotland........so another needle in a haystack situation, unless, of course................................................. ;-)
