Find Ancestors

I have checked for those 1901 people on 1911 Kathy.
I can only find the Mackenzie lot and they have no "extras"in the house...

I can not find the Macaulay family nor Stuart family on Stornoway...

Thanks Evelyn. There are records for the hospital but patient records only go up to 1936 and admissions and discharges up to 1948, which is presumably too early.

Mother died at home, she had had treatment at Weymouth and district Hospital, it no longer exists.

I spent some time yesteray looking for a Robert of Seaforth Highlanders but didn't get anywhere!

A couple of ideas

Could the records of the school in Stornaway be searched again, looking for any girls born in June 1906(or even a couple of years either side of 1906, just in case!)

Did Diane die in hospital, or, if not, was she a patient in a particular hospital?
Could a date of birth be obtained from those records? Her records, if any, will probably be closed, but perhaps permission could be granted just to be given her date of birth.

Come on Diane enough is enough where are you, please show yourself and solve this mystery for us all.

Hi Jan, it may be a good idea but, somewhere on here I think Fans says something about there not being anything else to find about Diane's nursing career.

I will jog her memory - that could be hard going though - it's failing due to age!!


Wisechild -yes, this thread IS getting rather big - I'll try and keep the precis up to date and ask people to read through it first- if they would be so kind of course! :-D

I spent a couple of hours yesterday reading the post from beginning to end & I can see that the same questions have been asked several times & the same possible links have been found.
It´s wonderful that so many people are getting involved, but the fact is that the thread is now so big that no one really knows what´s been done & what hasn´t.
Cynthia´s precis has helped a lot, but I think things are getting very muddled.
Please will someone hurry up & find Diane.

any more thought on if it could be a good idea to start a new post asking just for look up of hospital records at LMA for Diane ? (idea i posted at bottom of page 62)

Kathy posted.........Had a look at 1901 census and the only families I could find in Stornaway who had children Donald and Isabella ( no Ishbels ) with mother Catherine ( no Kate's ) were
Donald Stuart 6 mths f Donald
Donald Mackengie 14 yrs f Malcolm ( this is probably a wrong transcription and it should be MacKenzie )
Donald Macaulay 12 yrs f John

I wasted 6 credits on 1911 c checking Donald Stuart but it turned out to be the wrong family and I don't have any more credits .

Of course Donald or/and Ishbel could have been born after 1901 !!!!!

Cor...that took a while to find,hope you meant these Kathy?....Will get some credit and look at the others on 1911(if I can find them) but I may have to do that in the morn if my help does not turn up too early as Im so sorry but I am just so weary again after cooking apples for freezing,apple pies/Rhubarb pies/chicken pies and preparing everything for Sunday roast plus all my normal everyday stuff..........I want a holiday please.. :-(

During the last 2/3 weeks I have lost a stone in weight...The wonders of concrete mixing/laying ,cooking for all helpers and carrying heavy loads are to be applauded....But I am still Crackered...
No 2 D.I.L phoned to ask about a knitting pattern prob she had(Yes I knit too)just after I said I wanted no annoyances and she was not long on the phone I can tell you..!...Lucky we get on so well... :-D

Kathy ,I will back track to those 1901 census that you are asking about later this eve as I am now off to peel millions of "fallen"cooking apples that I was given to freeze down before they go off..
Methinks some will have to go inside a nice pastry coat as well though....

My father H R J Roy registered Mothers death in July 1952, she died in Weymouth Dorset of Bowel Cancer. There was no will, really nothing to leave as we were bombed out several times in WW2 and lost photos and paperwork that most families treasure.

I have done a lot of searching of Military records over the last few days with the name of Robert Macleod and variants of the that name, none of the service records in the Military have a child with the name of Diane Leslie Macleod I am sorry to say.

Either she was not Reg or that is not her correct name,sorry I have not read all of Evelyns thread but does Evelyn have her Death Reg is there anything on there that may shed light on her.

Not been much help sorry but I will keep trying from time to time ...you never know what records get entered on Ancestry it is updated all the time.
