shame they didn't have anything as it sounds like she would have been happy to look for them for you had they been there

Thank you Viv, my guardian angel and Jan for your help, what would I do without you all?
This crazy old bird has just been out for a drive needed to get away from someone playing with his new remote control and the curse words, feel much better now.
Lovely to know that you all care enough to help me, thank you

They do not have the records of those years only much earlier ones from when it first opened,BUT, the woman I spoke to(very nice and helpful)said that on her records there it says that if the detailed records of the nurses are not at LMA then they are still with the Hospital.
I have an address to write to and will look for a phone number tomorrow to try to phone first and see where and what that gets me to.

Thats ok , i found it when i googled the name of the hospital and records. I have been following this thread and know that if there is any avenue you will look at it. It would be good to find the missing "link!" shame Scotland 1911 is not out yet!!!

Thank you Jan.
I seem to have become rather protective of Evelyn since her post on the new Clinic Board and the replies on it.
Old she may be,computer lit not too good, but daft she is not yet....I think.;)
If that is another avenue to go down then I shall certainly take it.

Phoning them now.

FannyByGaslight Report 23 Nov 2010 15:19

On the records found by the kind GR member at LMA re Diane Leslie MacLeod they certainly DO say she WORKED there and was NOT a patient..

Evelyn

Evelyn Report 23 Nov 2010 15:02

To the best of my knowledge my mother was not admitted to a mental hospital, she worked there, I have 3 brothers and we would all very much like to know of mothers past so there is no problem there.
Thank you for your interest

Relating to the hospital records, might be worth getting in touch with them?
Mental Hospital Records and the Freedom Of Information Act (2000) and Data Protection Act (1998)

Because of the nature of these records and the sensitive, sometimes distressing, information that they may contain, it is necessary to place strict access restrictions on records that name patients for 100 years after the last date in the record. Staff records are similarly restricted for 75 years. Such restrictions ensure that the identity of a patient or staff member is protected and that sensitive and confidential information is not released for general access.

Health records are generally deposited with an archive repository by a local health authority and once transferred, they are held by the repository on behalf of the Lord Chancellor under s.4(1) of the Public Records Act (1958). Although restrictions to mental health records are applied and strictly adhered to at Surrey History Centre, as public records, health records are subject to the terms and conditions of the Data Protection Act 1998 and the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and access to them may be considered under the terms of this legislation.

Once it has been established that records relating to a particular individual have survived then a searcher may complete and sign a form requesting access to restricted documents. Surrey History Centre will then liase with the appropriate health authority responsible for depositing the records and reach a decision as to whether or not permission for access should be granted. There are several exemptions within the legislation that can prohibit access to sensitive records being granted, although such exemptions are cited and explained and are subject to appeal to the Freedom of Information Officer in Surrey County Council and ultimately to the Information Commissioner.

It should be remembered that even though one family member may be keen to find out key information relating to an ancestor admitted to one of Surrey's mental institutions, other family members, who may still be alive, could be a little more reticent at the prospect of such information coming to light. To protect the identities of third parties sometimes mentioned within health records, any references to third parties who may still be alive will be redacted or concealed from view - even if a general permission for access is granted.

Copy of email sent

To whom it may concern.
I have found the details of a Will that I would very much like to purchase

Robert MacLeod died in Liverpool Workhouse Infimary on 7th of March 1917 aged 58 years, occupation was Ships Carpenrter on his death cert and his home address was
14 Battery Park, Stornaway.
Confirmation was granted to Catherine MacLeod McKinnon ...widow?in Stornoway on 12th January 1918 I think and the Will was sealed on 28th January 1918,Registry London.
It was then returned to Scotland and resealed I am told by someone at the Records Office in Edinburgh but have yet still to get a copy as they say it is not with them although they had its details in front of them I am told by them,I know...very strange.
Please would it be possible to start your search from the 7th of March 1917 through to 1930 as suggested to me by the last person I spoke to in Scotland this morning about this matter..
My home address is

######
My phone Number is

#######

I have never applied for a copy of a Will or any other Deeds/Papers that may go with it before so I do hope I have done this correctly.
I would like everything relevant to this man that could be found please.
Thanking you for your time and patience on this matter.
Vivienne

Just bringing this forward from the last page as I think you may have missed it Erin.?
It was looked up at LMA by a GR member for Evelyn through me..

This is the PM I received and passed on to Evelyn.

Diane Leslie Macleod started work at Springfield
7.6.1927, left 19.6.1928.

Only had clerks minute books..

I will be going again maybe next week. So will see what else they may have. Girl did look and couldnt see anymore that would help. But worth another try.

Sorry its not much. But at least you now know she was there and was a nurse.
