Well lets pretend it never happened, I am 78 and if upsetting old ladies is the thing to do I shall just have to put up with it but I dont want them upsetting people that have been so kind to me.
I didnt see the thread that you refer to so couldnt put a reply on there, I think a private message would have suficed to put me on the right track

Signing off the computer soon.

No one has upset me Ev,you should know by now that is VERY hard to do,but I did not like the way your post was handled and it made me CROSS ,nor did I like the remarks I saw on that other thread I spoke of ,especially as they spoke of me as "another member"and not by any of the names I am known as on here when they know my boardname very well, who doesnt with what it is?..
If I had been able to answer on your thread on the Clinic board I would have said my say on it then, but of course as I am not one of the Clinic nurses I could not,and I would not be one of them for all the tea in China and I may upset one or two of them intentionally if I see it happen again with anyone whom I know to be of your age and kind personality ....

And just to add that anyone who has a pop at you again will get some of that Tongue Pie that I have been studiously taking note of from Janey Canuck..;)

Springfield Mental Hospital - known years ago as the asylum - is where, so I understand, my great-grandfather worked; he was a bricklayer.

Evelyn, it would not show much of the hospital but if you would like to see a photo of him doing his work, I would be happy to send it to you.

Evelyn Report 20 Nov 2010 22:52

Please Viv dont let anyone upset you as what you did you did in good faith and thought you were doing the right thing. There is no way you would upset anyone intentionally, lets just put it down to experience

Evelyn

you had absolutely no reason to apologise to the helpers on the Clinic board

It was not your fault.

They are supposed to be there to break down brick walls.

Unfortunately, they are only allowed to use GR, findmypast and Scotlands People .......... not any other sites.

It was not your ignorance Evelyn,it was me telling you to do it,so if it is anyones fault that you got the answer you did then it is MY fault.
I did explain on a thread someone posted that they were discussing it on why I did ask you not to give your thread number, but that thread is now deleted..
At least if this thread gets deleted(Evan forbid) I have my file of most things that have been done by me And others on here in it ,so not all would be lost.
The Sheriffs Office on Stornoway called while I was out yesterday and left a message on my answerphone to call them back about the Will we want to see,so I shall do that on Monday.

You did not break any rules - the Help Clinic is a new board set up to help these type of searches -

I am very sorry that they put so little effect in - as Viv said - it is good to have a fresh search

Kind regards

Thanks.

There are these records at the National Archives - might be worth a look.

DT 10 contains the bound volumes of the Register of Nurses (SRNs) 1921-1973. Although the Register was opened in 1921 it includes details of nurses who had qualified previous to this. Printed nominal indexes are held under references DT 10/1-56 . DT 10 also contains the list of nurses which was opened under the 1943 Nurses Act to allow those who had failed to register under the provisions of the 1919 Act to do so (DT 10/201 ). The Roll of Nurses (SENs) which was opened in 1944 is held in DT 11 . Both male and female assistant nurses, as they were called then, are included on the same Roll, but assistant nurses who worked in mental hospitals were not deemed to be eligible for inclusion. The change in the name to State Enrolled Nurse took place in 1961. In 1962 the Roll of Mental Nurses was established. The covering dates for DT 11 are 1944 to 1973 and printed nominal indexes are also included (DT 11/1-9 ).

Both the Register and the Roll contain information of use to the family historian and both are open without restriction. The type of information given includes: full name, qualifications, where the individual trained, and home address. Any alterations to this information may also be recorded, such as change of name upon marriage, change of address, date of death and any removals from the Register of Roll on disciplinary or other grounds.

Ann,this is the PM I received and passed on to Evelyn.

Diane Leslie Macleod started work at Springfield
7.6.1927, left 19.6.1928.

Only had clerks minute books..

I will be going again maybe next week. So will see what else they may have. Girl did look and couldnt see anymore that would help. But worth another try.

Sorry its not much. But at least you now know she was there and was a nurse.

***************************************

Not sure if she was a registered nurse, but certainly the first thing found for absolute certain on her before her marriage..!

So big thanks go to that kind GR member...

Thought it rang a bell, but too many posts on this thread to plough back!

Did the person search their records then? - not clear from your post
