Ellen,

Thanks very much for all the information, I did look on igi but think I must be doing something wrong because I didn't find all the children born to Daniel and Margaret.
On the 1871 you found it also shows a Folie which must be Felix b. 1816 in Ireland, brother to Henry McCluskey b. 1791.
I have looked on the igi for Henry b.1791 birth in Ireland to find his parents but so far no luck.
I don't live in Glasgow so can't visit the Mitchell, although I did go there last year and had a look on the poor relief records for other family members but I had'nt found my McCluskey's line then, wish I had.
Perhaps I will e.mail them and see if they can help,
Many thanks
jean

Hi Jean,to find siblings born in old parish records "Hughwallis" site is better than the normal "Familysearch"

I think it's £ 15 for the staff at Mitchell Library to do a search and printout for you .

1 1880 BUTLER DANIEL M 58 CALTON GLASGOW CITY/LANARK 644/04 0907 VIEW (5 CREDITS) ORDER
This thread from Catherine gives you the date and place of Daniels death in Scotlandspeople. If you pay the 5credits it will give you more details, and his parents should be on it.You could also look for the deaths of the McCluskey.

Ellen,

thanks again, I have just found Daniel's death on S.P, he was still living in Kirk street at the time of his death , son Patrick signed the cert. Also gave his parents names which is great.

I have been looking for a death for Henry McCluskey between 1861 / 1871 but so far nothing coming up for him even with the surname variations.

Ellen,
Thanks for your interest,
The 2 Henry's you found are not the Henry I am looking for, 1st one surname McLachlan is too young , my Henry would be 70 plus, the 2nd one is one of my Henry McCluskey 's which I have already got , they did like to keep family names didn't they ?
Oh well back to the drawing board .
Haven't had a chance to look at the Mitchell website but I will,

Hi Ellen ,
Haven't had a chance to continue my search for Henry McCluskey, been too busy looking at the virtual Mitchell site, it's fascinating.
Lots of streets I remember from when I was young ( long time ago now ).
Found William Street in Anderston where I used to go to nursery and Main street Bridgeton where some of my ancestors lived.
Looking at the photos of Kirk street I think there are some of my ancestors in that picture lol.
Must get back to the virtual mitchell, will continue my search for Henry later.

regards
jean
