Cecil Jackson born Eaton Bray Beds 1890.
1891 census Eaton Bray.
1901 census Eaton Bray

The story is that Cecil was fed up with life in the sticks and went off looking for adventure. He jumped on his bike and rode to Southampton.Signed on to the Olympic and sailed to Belfast where he signed on to the Titanic for the trip back to England and again signed on for its maiden voyage.
On the Encyclopedia Titanica site his last address is given as 22 Graham Rd Southampton. Can anyone please look up the 1911 census to see who he is living with and if any of his mates from the village jumped on their bikes and went with him.
Thank you

The Cecil Jackson living in Southampton is not the one you are looking for as he was born Southampton.

I've just looked at the Encyclopedia Titanica at Cecil's record. He gave his address as 22 Graham Road in April 1912 when he'd sailed to Southampton from Belfast. I haven't been able to find him on 1911 census; I think it's probable that he was living in Belfast in 1911.

Thanks Corinne

Thats an idea.
Was there an Irish census or any records for around that time.

If he was at sea would he not have been included in the 1911 census .

Hey there, i managed to delete instead of edit to add more info lol.

i'll add more data in a sec...

Just so others don't think we've all gone weird, i made the point that the inferance is he was still on dry land in 1911 and not at sea.

I am curently going through passenger data now to see if i can find him anywhere else.

It is possible he has already sailed to New York and liked it then going on to sign the Titanic?

Hmmm, this Cecil Jackson alights at Southampton. Sadly is doesn't state where he got on or his age.

UK Incoming Passenger Lists, 1878-1960
about Cecil Jackson
Name: Cecil Jackson
Port of Departure: New York, New York, United States
Arrival Date: 28 Jul 1907
Port of Arrival: Southampton, England
Ports of Voyage: New York
Ship Name: Philadelphia
Search Ship Database: View the 'Philadelphia' in the 'Passenger Ships and Images' database
Shipping Line: American Line
Official Number: 150617

It's possible this ship 'popped' into other UK/Irish ports before getting to Southampton.

I dont know when he signed on with White Star but he went to Belfast on The Olympic. I think that sailed from Southampton.

edit

If this passenger is my Cecil he would be only 17.Family were ag labourers in Eaton Bray.Cant see where he would have found the money to travel.

Very helpful.

So Cecil could have signed on earlier than the Belfast trip and been in America around the 1911 census.Do you know if White Star (Cunard) would have records.
