I am confused on two census 1881. My G.Grandmother lived at 4 Wilmer Gardens Mary Ann Shipp(1848) in census 1861, she married George Anderson(Handerson.1848) in 1866 with their address being 3 Wilmer Gardens Shoreditch, I found a census 1881 with them living at 3 Wilmer Gardens Shoreditch, with a son geroge(1880), this is where the other census is confusing. George Anderson who married Mary Ann Ship had a son called George(1880) (my Grandfather), he was born in 7 Duke Street, Bethnal Green, his birth date matches the Army records that I have, I found a census 1881 with him living at 7 Duke Street, B/G. but the other chilren are different, to me they seem like the same people on both 1881 census. can anyone clear this up for me.

I can't find the other census record with them at Wilmer Gardens.

Yes this is one of the census, the other 1881 has the name slight wrong, it heads George Henderson 1848 3 Wilmer Gardens Shoreditch Haggerston, both George and Mary A and daughter Emily 1874 who I can't find after that date and son george 1880 St luke.

I can only find the census posted above.

Can you post copies of the 2 you have found please?

Personally I think the Duke Street family is yours. They have a daughter Eliza who was probably named after Mary Ann's mother (I notice on the 1861 census Mary Ann's mother is called Eliza).

Yes this is the other one. Adress being 3 Wilmer Gardens Shoreditch. this is Mary Ann's address when she got married tho George Anderson.

Yes I have the birth certificate for Geroge Anderson 28 March 1880 7 Duke Street, B/G Middx parents are George Anderson and Mary Ann Shipp.

George has the same occupation in both, too.

Yes Eliza Taylor is her mother's name, it's just that both census match both different address.

The surname on the other 1881 census is definitely Henderson.

Yes, on the George anderson(1880) father's name George Anderson,
on his Marriage it's George Handerson and on the census 1881 it's George Henderson both with a H, and both Wilmer Gardens. I am wondering if it's just miss heard and written down wrong on the marriage and census.

Both states carman and the marriage states Horse Keeper which could be his job looking after the Horse as a young man and then riding the carts later in life.

Personally I think it's just co-incidence that there's the George Henderson living in Wilmer Gardens in 1881 as the other family do appear to be yours.

Just out of curiosity, when did George and Mary Ann Shipp marry as I haven't found the marriage on Free BMD?

Why do you think that the George born in Duke Street is 'your' George and not the one living in Wilmer Street in 1881 ?
I know you have a birth certificate, but why did you choose that one, ...Did you know his mother's maiden name?
