Hi Can sks help please with Birth and 1901 census if poss

I have a James Conway b? his father was a policeman in Dublin not sure where ,so i was thinking that James could have been born in Ireland or Oldham area but cant find a thing

James married in 1920 Oldham reg office .. Alice A Platt born abt 1900 again Ireland/Oldham area

They had 2 boys Edward b1920/1986 and James b1926 he died of lead poiseningwhen he was young so he must of been at school age but cant find a death cert

Hoping someone can help me with this many thanks

What was James' age on the marriage cert.?
From that you can work out his date of birth.

1911 census search showed:-

HOUSEHOLD PLATT ALICE A F 1895 16 Oldham Lancashire

and

HOUSEHOLD CONWAY JAMES M 1892 19 Oldham Lancashire

adding the nine years missing to ages above, would these ages match the cert.?

there's also this one born in Ireland:-

This looks promising so it looks like James was born in Oldham not ireland also his father was a police man
as james is the eldest im going to try and look for the other children to see if i can find a maiden made

as there first child was born in 1920 and they were married then the two you have found look right as he would of been 41 if using the other james b1879 just seems a bit late to start having kids but then again lol

No have only just found out about them i knew her name was platt from the birth certs found the marriage on LBD

Checked 1911 census and Alice in 1901 is the same Alice as the one in 1911 census as she is living with mother Annie L. and brother Frank, but father Edmund is not there.

I think the only way round it is to buy the wedding cert for James & Alice to be ale to conferm the info as the more you look the more James you find

Edit ...yes i could only find James conways born in the lancashire area also

To be sure you have the correct people you really need to buy a copy of their marriage cert. from Lancashire Registry Office. This will confirm their dates of birth and will give their father's names and professions. It will also give you James' profession and the address that he was living at, which may help.

Addresses don't show on a 1911 search, you have to pay to view that.

If Alice turns out to be the correct one, then this is her parents marriage:-

that's strange, just noticed that the age of James is the same in 1901 and in 1911.

This one does seem to fit quite well as it is the James aged 19 which would be close to that of Alice.

Thats why i am gonna buy the cert as i noticed the age also i was trying to work it out will have to look at the census its self to see the mistake

Just to finish off, for now, have checked 1901 census for James and age is definitely 9yrs and not 19yrs. So date of birth does fit.

this is the only Alica A I could find with Oldham birth
