Find Ancestors

Hi All,

Looking for the birth of a Cyril Ailey about 1906 either West Ham or Walthamstow Essex.

Siblings were Stanley 1898, Elsie 1899, Connie 1902,Leslie 1904, Frederick 1905, Cyril abt 1906, Hilda 1907, Edith 1909, Gilbert 1911,Joy 1914, Doris 1918 and Ernest 1919.

I can find nothing on Cyril at all. He married a lady called Meg and they lived at 4 Debden Close Woodford Green, Buckhurst Hill, Essex then moved to Braemar in Scotland. One of his daughters lived at their house at Woodford Green when Cyril and Meg moved to Scotland.

They had three children John c1938, Mary c1940, and Ann c1943. All born Woodford green Essex so the birth may come under West Ham Gt London Essex or Walthamstow.

When you say you cannot find him, have you looked on the actual untranscribed BMD or just on FreeBMD?

You appear to have missed a couple?? I have highlighted the ones you have not mentioned.

You have Connie with the wrong birth year also.

I would also say there appears to be no room for Cyril unless he was also born in a between year, however Alfred George was born in 1906?

the 1915 birth of Leslie also has the 'll' missing off the mothers maiden name, but i think thats a transcription error.

These are great thanks Tracey and their mother was Maud Biddy Chignell.
I know Cyril was a little crippled and have pictures of him.

Tracy I have the birth date of Ernest Ailey from my cousin Paul and he says that his dad was born 1919. Do the birth come out a year later do you know?

By the way Doris is still alive.

Some people do get the years wrong... memory fades etc, however Ernest was registered in the 1st Quarter of 1920, this means he *could* have been born in Dec 1919, parents have 6 weeks to register a birth, so it's quite possible he could have even been a very late November birth and registered in early Jan 1920.

Want to know more about George William Ailey 1902.

Maud Biddy had a brother George William Chignell.

I know there were 12 surviving children and my mum says that they used to sleep top and tail 6 in a bed. Boys in one girls in the other in the same room.

Cannot find a marriage for Alfred either....

Ernest was born on 19th December 1919.

Still wondering if Cyril or Syril was a nickname.

His children were John c1938 Mary c1940 and Ann c1943 I was told by a cousin.

ok let me find their birth and then maybe a marriage that matches what we have?

I've searched from 1937 to 1939 and i have not come accross a John Ailey yet?

The only Ailey birth in that timeframe was Barry & Terrence, Gilbert's sons.

I'm going through the untranscribed BMD records on Find My Past.

Can't afford that and Ancestry.
