I'm trying to locate the family of my Great Aunt - Mrs Draper who lived in High Street, Kensworth, Herts in 1930 she was born in Stotfold, Bedfordshire area that's the only information I have available. Would really welcome some help on this please?

You don't have her maiden name I take it? if you do you might be able to look for marriage and offspring. If this is really all you have I would go down the electoral register route. This would have to be done in person - or by someone working there - where the archives are stored. This is usually at the nearest main library to the area. It will only give you people over 21 but might be a start.
Where is Kensworth anyway??

Mrs Draper is one of 5 sisters, 2 of which I have ruled out.
Mary born 1891, May born 1881 and Sarah 1876 all in Stotfold, they lived in Brook Street, Stotfold, Herts. Anything else I could help you with please don't hesitate to ask and thank you again for your willingness to help me.

ps I've replied on the mauve button this time!

Mrs Draper is the sister of my Grandmother Annie Dear born 1887 in Stotfold, Beds/Herts died 1977. Parents were Sarah Dear/John Dear who were both born in 1846. I believe her maiden name was Gentle.

Another MISTAKE her maiden name was DEAR not GAUNT. So sorry!

Christine, I might be going a bit mad here (quite common with me!) but I can't find them on census reports. If you have them can you put details on here, e.g.for 1901?
Thanks

The only information I have is that in 1930 - Annie Dear's sister Mrs Draper of High Street, Kensworth, Herts admitted her sister to the Three Counties Asylum in Arlesey, Beds in July 1930. This information was written on my grandmother's medical records. She was placed there suffering with post natal depression upon the birth of a stillborn child and stayed there until her death in 1977.

Hi, where could Mary Ann have been in 1901, not with the family?
Did they have off-spring?

Age a bit out, but fits with Bedfordshire/hertfordshire move (I don't think the original necessarily says Arsley, very hard to read):

1901 England Census

Name: Mary Dear
Age: 14
Estimated birth year: abt 1887
Relation: Servant
Gender: Female
Where born: Arlesey, Bedfordshire, England

Registration district: Hitchin
Sub-registration district: Hitchin

Phoebe Harvey 40
Rosamund Harvey 8
Mary Dear 14

There is one Draper-Dear birth:

Name: Arthur W Draper
Mother's Maiden Surname: Dear
Date of Registration: Jul Aug Sep 1917
Registration district: Hitchin
Registration county: Hertfordshire, Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Middlesex
Volume Number: 3a
Page Number: 1095

Perhaps the 1930 birth - she would have been in her 40s? - was a stillbirth. I don't see a Mary Draper death in 1977 to match, unfortunately. (Sorry, got confused, it was Annie who died in 1977.)

Likely marriage of the child (I'm assuming that the parties, born before 1920, are deceased):

Name: Arthur W Draper + Elsie M Bennett
Date of Registration: Jan-Feb-Mar 1941
Registration district: Httchin
Volume Number: 3a
Page Number: 2832

Could be the husband's death:

Name: William Draper
Birth Date: 9 May 1885
Death Registration Month/Year: 1970
Registration district: Luton
Inferred County: Bedfordshire
Volume: 4a

Mary Ann Dear may have been born earlier 1878. The following info from Janey looks promising and I thank you for this. Where do I go from here?

There is one Draper-Dear birth:

Name: Arthur W Draper
Mother's Maiden Surname: Dear
Date of Registration: Jul Aug Sep 1917
Registration district: Hitchin
Registration county: Hertfordshire, Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Middlesex
Volume Number: 3a
Page Number: 1095

Likely marriage of the child (I'm assuming that the parties, born before 1920, are deceased):

Name: Arthur W Draper + Elsie M Bennett
Date of Registration: Jan-Feb-Mar 1941

I haven't found any Draper-Bennett births. (There are Draper-Bunnett and Draper-Bonnett births in the same area, but marriages to account for them.)

Possibly Elsie had been married before even though young, given the timing, WWII, and Bennett wasn't her birth surname, so there could be a different mother's surname on the birth records of any children.

I would get the

Draper-Dear marriage cert
Arthur Draper birth cert
Arthur Draper marriage cert
William Draper death cert

-- i.e. all of them! -- to try to verify the connections and see what additional information they might offer.
