Have you got his marriage cert? The name and occupation of his father would really help here. Can you put his marriage details for us to see please?

William Entwistle died aged 70 in 1935 Dec Q Chapel en le Frith 7b 900

hi i`m back, no dont have marriage cert but he is the william that died in 1935. He is also the one that is married to helena (edith) & living as boarders with the fords at dove holes. and thankyou to you all for the info.
he was born in Darwin, Lancashire so that should narrow it down & be easier to find. ty

i am looking for the divorce of William Entwistle & Mary Jane Evans. IF it took place it would be between 1901 & 1906. Can anybody tell me where i can look this up plz?

brummiejan Report 27 Mar 2010 18:58

Alison, why do you think he divorced? It's possible but not likely as it was difficult and expensive, so most people just split up and set up home with another partner.

well i`m pretty sure that wiliam was married to mary jane evans & i have looked to see if she had perhaps died. not found evidence of this yet? so then thought maybe they divorced. William went on to marry helena edith vernon in 1907.

There is a William Henry Entwistle born Haslingden still living with his Mary Jane in 1911, married for 21 years. That could be the marriage that Brummiejan has posted.

And several other William Entwistles in the area of around the same age.

Alison, how do you know your William married Mary Jane Evans? Or how do you know he was married twice?

SnowyJen, I think that family is the one I've found in 1911, children Annie, Alice, Harold and Fred.

Hi Alison
If you're sure he married Helena vernon then you need to get the marriage certificate to confirm the fathers name
the marriage has already been posted by Madmeg

GRO: Chapel le F. 7b 1682

Good advice SnowyJen. That cert will also show if he was previously married (we hope).

Just had a thought, don't quiz me, leave me till Monday, might be able to solve this by devious means.

i traced a william entwistle 1867 back to darwen where he was born & found that he was married to mary jane evans. i have since come across another one born in darwen also married & this time to a rachel & they have 1 daughter florence e entwistle 1888. this william is a painter which my william was. my william married helena vernon but not until 1907 a year after arnold (helenas son) was born. he was also a painter. i think i shall have to send away for william & helena`s marr cert & hopefully find some answers in there.
