Not getting this with Delia though Andrew..?

Quinn / Gavican marriage 1905
Quinn/ Gavican birth 1912

not seeing where a second marriage figures?
am I being thick lol

If the John married to Delia was married 6 years by 1911 and is the right one ...then 'Delia' Must be Teresa Gavican..there is no second wife??

i think i finaly track down micheal gavican but would like conformation that i have the right one, i found micheal married to marry murry who have a bridget gavican in 1843,
so that mean that birget is just two years out, with age on the marrige certifcert i have for 1905

i found him using family search.org

batch no
c701711
dates 1830-1862
source call no. 0989745

type film
printout call is none
and the next one is type (but noting found)
so i petty certian this could be them but it would be nice to just have it confirm,
from sombody else,
as bridget was age 30 in 1905 so if you take 30 away from around 1875
and if you add 30 to 1843 1873 so only two year out, and see i can't any other michael for her father, i hope i have hit the jackpot witht this one, which meam great grand parents, i have possible found thank you

Ooooh, I don't think any of that makes any sense!

For the name Bridget Gavican, the IGI has two births/christenings:

Bridget [Gavican]
Christening: 03 AUG 1843 Roman Catholic, Strokestown, Roscommon, Ireland
Father: Michael Gavican
Mother: Mary Murry
Batch No.: C701711

This one is way way too old to be the one who married in 1905,. You can't subtract 30 *twice*! Someone who was about 30 in 1905 was born about 1875. Not 1843!

The other one is

Bridget Gavican
Birth: 30 NOV 1874 , , Ireland
Father: John Gavican
Mother: Honoria Tiernan
Batch No.: I024675

Now, that one was "submitted" by someone. There is no confirmation that it is true.

But -- you're looking for a Teresa, who married in 1905, not a Bridget, aren't you??

Oh, except I see that on the 1912 birth certificate, the mother was called "Bridget"?

JaneyCanuck Report 24 Jun 2010 17:52

I checked the parishes available in the IGI, at Hugh Wallis's batch number site.

In 1911:
John Quinn was born in Ballyhaunis, county Mayo
"Delia" was born in Delvin, county Westmeath

Neither one of those places is included in the batches in the IGI.

So searching at familysearch.org for their births isn't going to find them, unfortunately.

good evening janey

i will try and make myself a lltttle clearer this time as english and maths were never my stonger subject at school, so here i are the detail as i see them

my grandmothre was acooriding to the our marriage certificate in 1905 in which they both age 30 at the time, when they got married.

her full name was
tresea birget gavican

which is on the 1905 cetiifacte that i have and and for some reason unknow to me,(yet to be found out) delia. show up as his wife for six years

on the 1911 cenues, and not bridget tresea gavican,
who one would assume should be on it,

and plus on the 1905 marriage cretifcte that i have it name a micheal for the father and their is no mention of a john for the father,,

but she was married to a john quinn who father was james quinn he was a famer
as both father were famers,
.
i know it very complicate that why i want to asking all you good people to help make sense of it all,

hear a litllbit of extra information
johne quinn was living at bodoen walk or bollen walk wilmslow(writing ver faint)
and she was living at
ladyfeild treance wilmslow (writing very faint)

hopeing with luck i might of made my self a littler clear this time
sorry for the confurison,
i aprrecation any help i can get you been great, and a real thelp to me without people like you would not be where i am now, as on my mother side gone bac to 17090 which is dare more ever hope for.,

I looked around for both of them in 1901 in England for quite some time this afternoon, with no luck at all. (Trying by first name only, last name only, as Teresa or Bridget or Delia, etc etc.) I also looked for their deaths, as all possible names, but no luck with that either!

One thing to note is that the spelling of Irish surnames in English records can get a little wonky.

It's worth keeping things like GAVIGAN and GAVIGHAN in mind too, and then of course Ancestry mistranscribes it as things like GARICAN.

LADYFIELD TERRACE
and
BOLLIN WALK

are both in Wilmslow in 1911.

Unfortunately there are several households on each of them, and no Gavican or Quinn among them.

I searched in the 1881 census (which can be searched by address) and found that Bollin Walk is in a place called Bollin Fee, in Wilmslow subdistrict, Bucklow district.

I searched the 1901 for everyone in Bollin Fee born 1870-1880, but they just aren't there, it seems. :(
