I AM NOW TRACING MY MOTHERS FAMILY AND I NEED YOUR HELP WITH, WALTER CHATLAND BORN COVENTRY IN ABT 1864
I ALLREADY HAVE CENCUS,S FOR 1871, 1881,1891 AND 1901
I ALLSO NOW HE MARRIDE LIZY LINDON IN 1888 AND LZZY DIED IN 1907 AGED 43,
I HAVE GOT AN IGI RECORD OFF FAMILY SEARCH THAT SAYS
WALTER CHATLAND BIRTH 17 OCT 1863,
BUT I CAN NOT FIND A GRO INDEX FOR THIS ????
I CAN NOT FIND ANY TRACE OF HIS DEATH
HE APPEARS IN THE 1901 CENUS, SO IT WOULD HAVE ACCURED
AFTER THIS DATE.
ANY HELP YOU CAN OFFER, IN THESE MATERS WOULD BE GREATLY

thanks brenda
just finnished searching 1881, 1891, 1901 cencus
and i can not find any menstion of an elizabeth johnston born 1880
in coventry warwickshire, so there is a good chance there has been an error on the records, its worth a try,
my next job now is to trace her death,
i must first trace all elizabeth hill marridges on or after 1926, as she appeared on staveley hills death cert as widow, i suppose she may have
allso moved from the area.
this is where it gets hard, no cencus to fall back on,

You will need to order as written and I believe that both the register and the certifiate will most likely say Johnston. Bearing in mind that many of our ancestors couldn't read or write, it would have made little difference to them.

if the name johnston is on the register, will that mean the certificate will be johnston, or could it just be the register that is wrong or both.

Thats some job you're taking on! Didn't Tracey say that she would look up that birth for you when she went to wherever it was she said she was going to......sorry, having a bit of a blank mind. Me, I would pay out for the certificate and take the risk. Lots of luck is wished for you!
Ps
She is the only Elizabeth Johnson/Johnston born in Coventry 1879 - 1881.....just checked on freebmd.

i have checked out that image for george hill
and i think your right volume xvi 350 not 330,
i have also made a list of all elizabeth johnson and johnston
born between 1880 and 1882, and i will search through, the cencus's tomorrow and try to eliminate them, have you
got any tips that might help me, this is the only idea that springs to my mind.

THERE WAS A DIDGIT MISSING ON BIRTH
INDEX, IT WAS ALSO WRONG IMAGE WHEN YOU TRYED TO VIEW IT, SO YOU HAD TO SEARCH THROUGH THE PAGES UNTILL YOU GOT THE RIHT LISTING, EVEN THEN IT WAS HARD TO TELL IF IT WAS A 3 OR 5, COULD IT BE THAT VOLUME 16 WOULD BE ALL HILL BIRTHS, AND THAT384 TO 584
GEORGE HILLS BORN COVENTRY, JUST CARNT MAKE ANY SENCE OF IT.

1845 GEORGE, AND THEN FARTHERS NAME HENRY, THE MARRAGE CERT PROVES THIS WRONG, THE ADDRESS ON CENUS VICTORIA STREET RECURRS LATER IN MY TREE SO I KNOW THERE IS A CONNECTION, I AM WONDERING IF RUGBY WAS A DISTRICT IN THE 18 HUNDREDS.

Easenhall is in the Rugby registration district but cannot find a birth for that district. there are these in Coventry however.
