What a shame, I think in that case you need to order the birth and marriage certs from www.GRO.gov.uk using the references given earlier, they cost £9.25 each.

Clive, that's really sad. They can't stop you buying your own copy of the certificate, though.

my dad gave all info he had when lorna died to my brother,and has been very hedgy about letting me know any info,it is possible that he has told my brother to make it difficult,its almost as if there is something in his background that he doesn't want me to know,my brother hasn't updated his tree for a while and again he is not very forthcoming with any info he has that i dont.

You say your brother has Lorna's birth cert?

it should give the full name of her mother (and hopefully her father)

we need to know these names if we are to help you further.

i only have howlett as mothers maiden,no father,so those on my tree may be wrong

well i thought howlett was a mistake but after reading what info that you guys have found i not so sure,but as we are talking i trying to find a link between howlett and lorna,as of yet other than the birth cert i cannot find a thing

Hello again Clive. There is a tree on Ancestry, owned by a Clive Maddock (yourself?), which gives Lorna Elizabeth Mills birth date as 11/06/1913 in Cheadle, Staffs, death is 2003. Married to Ernest Henry Maddock 1904-1964.

Tree gives mother's surname as Howlett.

You need to get a marriage certificate to find out her Father's name.
Also, are you sure about the date of birth?
