Well she wouldn't be emigrating without her family at that age!

Stephen, what gives you the impression she emigrated in 1896?

The 1930 census has her emigrating in 1896. Just checked again and it is 1896.

Carl didn't get to America until 1898.

Did he marry her in England?

1920 census says 1898, 1930 says 1893 as does the 1910.

Sorry must go now. Will check back tomorrow.

Yes i was just looking at that now....

Hmmmm, he's single in 1910 and a boarder and their first child is born 1909??

So we can assume that their first child was born around the time of the census?

Has his parents rounded up his age?....it's possible he was born 1910??

Thats one of my confusions. The census 1901 I have seen too and thats why the emigration date saying 1896 is confusing. This is why I am keen to find her emigration record and whether she went with any other Watts relations. Thanks

I don't know if this is the same Louisa and cannot connect it for sure but thought I would post it 'just in case'

Name: Louisa WATTS
Date of departure: 25 May 1893
Port of departure: Liverpool
Passenger destination port: Quebec, Canada
Passenger destination: Quebec, Canada

Date of Birth: 1883 (calculated from age)
Age: 10

Occupation: Child

The following people with the same last name travelled on this voyage: -

Emelia WATTS ......... aged 8.

Ship:
S S SARDINIAN

Wm Richardson
Allan Line
Montreal, Canada
13634
2517
812

These two were part of a large party of Children (probably home children) travelling to Canada.
- All travelling without parents!

It 'could' be that some of them went on to America at a later date?

Stephen in your new thread

http://www.genesreunited.co.uk/boards.asp?wci=thread&tk=1197995

(thanks Ginny, and it should be deleted - Stephen did you really want people doing all this work over again??)

you say the person discussed in this thread isn't the right one.

You say she had her first child in 1909. Can you give the name, and say how you know this? Certainly the child's name is rather important for searching the 1910 US census, e.g.

You do know that you can search outbound travel records at findmypast yourself?

If this is the wrong person, then your Louise did *not* marry a Carl Dietrichs?? And could have gone anywhere in the US, not necessarily Washington state??

Maybe if you could give the information you know *definitely* and where it comes from, e.g. the info about the 1909 birth.

No I didnt want that at all and was very grateful to all those who did. I know she is the right person but what I was asking for was -As she wa still in the UK as a servant in 1901 she obviously came to the USA after 1901 and the fact that her first child was born there 1909/1910 I was hoping she could be found on a ship and whether she had any other Watts relatives with her-maybe not immediate family as they were here in the UK.
