David, you should be working backwards and in that way you would have his child and then buy that cert and have his wifes full name from that backwards to find the marriage.

who registered his death?

No obvious martin Wellbrook on 1861 census - not England anyway

He was born in 1827, Stepney London and died 1893. There was a Martin born in 1852/53/54 who may have been his son.
Can find a Martin marrying in Dec 1860 but would like to find out who to and what children they had.
Maybe Martin (born 1827) married in Ireland. How do I find info for Irish marriages.
